    Sealion

Sunrise, ground fog, short Channel crossing, Spit II's & 109 E-4/N-DeRated (limited to 20 each). What's not to love?

    Red Briefing

    Late September 1940 – Sealion v1.1

Weather: Partly cloudy, winds from the SW @ 10 knots.

    06:00

Get your asses out of bed, Jerry is crossing the Channel!! We've heard rumors for weeks from the French Resistance and have seen the pictures from our reconnaissance aircraft of the build-up at Calais but we didn't think Herr Hitler had the nerve to actually try and invade. Folkestone and Dover were heavily bombed last night and are still burning. Before dawn German troops began loading and have set sail with a ragtag fleet of civilian and military vessels. The Cliffs of Dover appears to be the landing site and rumors are running wild of German paratrooper landings all over. Several companies of elite Fallschirmjäger have occupied the town of Hawkinge making use of the nearby airfield impossible. Expect heavy ground fire in that area. We cannot allow the Germans to establish a foothold on English soil. Remember the words of the Prime Minister and do your duty today.

""If this long island story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground." - Winston Churchill

    Fighter Command Orders

    - Establish air superiority over Dover (AX23). Expect the Luftwaffe to launch frequent attacks on the harbor and nearby coastal defenses (AY23.7).

    - The Royal Navy has launched a group of destroyers which are moving south from AY28 to block the Invasion fleet. Provide top cover as the ships are vulnerable to air attack, especially enemy dive bombers.

    - The army is scrambling to move troops & tanks into Dover and throw the Germans back into the sea. The rail yards at Canterbury (AW25.1) & Ashford (AU23.9) are packed with men & equipment and are prime targets for German level bombers.

    - If we weren't stretched thin enough, Bomber Command will be launching constant attacks on the German invasion ships. Jerry is sure to have a strong fighter presence over their fleet and the Blenheims will be easy meat if we don't tie up their fighters.

    - In accordance with their Blitzkrieg doctrine the coastal airfields at Littlestone (AV22.2), Lympne (AV23.2), and Canterbury (AW24.8) are sure to come under attack. After constant attack from fighter-bombers Manston was abandoned in late August. The RAF cannot afford to be pushed further inland if we hope to achieve air superiority.

    Bomber Command Orders

    - Several waves of German barges, destroyers, and support ships are crossing the Channel from Calais (BB21) heading towards Dover (AX23). Every ship we can destroy at sea is one less spilling jack boot thugs onto our beaches.

    - French Resistance reports that a large contingent of German High Command & Officers have gathered at a bunker complex at Cap Griz Nez (AZ20.8) in order to spectate the invasion. It's possible the Führer himself could be in attendance. Disrupting their Command & Control could throw their invasion plans into chaos.

    - The airfield at Calais-Marck (BC21.7) is home to German fighter-bomber and Stuka squadrons. The Luftwaffe is sure to rely on them heavily today for close support of their invasion forces. Raids on their airfield would not only draw fighters away from defending their invasion fleet but also allow our boys on the ground to man their guns without threat of Jerry bombers overhead.

    - Several months of hard fighting have worn the Luftwaffe down to a fraction of the original strength. Pilot and aircraft fatigue are so great they have requested help from their Italian allies. A detachment from the Regia Aeronautica has recently became operational and were probably responsible for the bombing of Dover last evening. Knock out their base at Zutkerque (BD20.4) and send them back to Italy.

    Blue Briefing

    Late September 1940 – Sealion v1.1

Weather: Partly cloudy, winds from the SW @ 5 m/s.

    06:00

ALARM!!! After weeks of hard fighting OKW has decided to launch Unternehmen Seelöwe, the invasion of England. Under cover of darkness our troops began loading onto barges and support ships early this morning and are now a few kilometers off Calais. They will begin landing at approximately 09:45. The English defense is in shambles after abandoning most of their equipment in France and will be no match for our troops and panzers if we can see them safely to the beaches. In a series of daring pre-dawn operations, Fallschirmjäger dropped into England to capture key crossroads behind the beachhead including the critical airfield at Hawkinge. They are lightly armed and will not be able to hold against determined armored counterattacks.

    Bf 109 / Bf 110 Orders

    - Establish air superiority over the invasion fleet sailing from Calais (BB21) to Dover (AX23). Sweep the English from the skies!!

    Ju 87 / Ju 88 / He 111 / Erpr.Gr.210 Orders

    - A group of British destroyers were spotted sailing south from AY28. The thinly armoured vessels our troops are using are no match for the guns of the Royal Navy. Destroy them before they lay waste to our fleet.

    - A British Coastal Battery in AY23.7 will be able to bombard our transports from kilometers away before they reach Dover harbor. Knock these guns out of action.

    - Over the past several weeks the British have setup formidable defenses in Dover harbor (AX23.6). The Kriegsmarine will bombard the harbor prior to troop landing but accurate dive bombing will be required to neutralize the strongpoints.

    - The rail yards at Canterbury (AW25.1) & Ashford (AU23.9) are being used to rush men and equipment into Dover. Bombard these installations as well as any trains you see to delay the enemy from moving reinforcements to the front.

    - The airfields at Littlestone (AV22.2), Lympne (AV23.2) and Canterbury (AW24.8) will allow the RAF to get fighters over the battle area quickly. Put these fields out of action once and for all.

    Re: Sealion

    What a beautiful mission!

Tried it yesterday, and the scenery's at morning takeoff
and those mighty furball's over those ships..!

Great map for both bombers and fighters.

    One Q.: "winds from the SW @ 5 m/s."
How high is this wind effective..did You set any "top limit"?

Appreciate Your hard work on this great mission!

Well I hope Br20 (with correct markings ) is there then. In fact lately italian aircrafts disappeared from the maps in rotation. But if the next patch will bring us in a "new theatre of war" I'm afraid you'll have to familiarize with our wonderful flying machines

This is a fantastic map, HG!

It was very stable and ran smoothly for me even when Bliss was pushing us close to the new 120 player max. The early morning mist at both Eastchurch and Rochford airfields is amazing (thanks, too, to Team Fusion).

This was the perfect mission to try the fixed 'n tweaked Spitfire 1a 100 octanes (thanks, Buzzsaw ). Great mission, great sim.

I don't think it is in rotation now as there was a bit too much going on with AI (ships & ground vehicles) and was causing some problems during the 120 player test. I am working on a scaled back version that should appear soon.
