    Re: Sealion

oh... to be sure I'm not complaining, I just love your mission briefings in here.

Thanks for taking that extra effort to provide those recon photos

I take it when you say 'knock out the airfield' - that we just hit Calais Mark enough times and it will become non-operational ? Does it have a % that comes up for those fields ?

    Thanks again

    Re: Sealion

I've had very little success bombing those ships in this mission., to the point where I no longer bother.
I think there is a problem with the way water is reacting with bombs (they're sinking below the ships, even if they strike the hull).

I can only suggest that people make some short .trk files, and then enable external views on them afterwards to see what's going on

In my experience, .trk with external view doesn't work with ships on ATAG. When you see the movie, the ship is always far from the point where it was in "reality". So you see your bombs falling in the void and the ship exploding hundred of meters away

    Re: Sealion

I really love this map. Plenty of different targets and a full plane set (finally I could fly again a Br20..). And as I hear in TS it's the preferred map for many others. The problem is that we could play it a bit yesterday evening only because Steam crashed in the former map. Actually, at night CEST time in the last two weeks we only played Hellfire Corner and Kanalkampf. I like those maps too, but everybody would like some variations. So let me make again my old proposal: wouldn't be possible to insert one more map in the rotation, just to break the 24-hours cycle and have different maps at same time every day? I think everybody would be happy in this way.

    Re: Sealion

    Again: this map is awesome!
I manned the ships Bofors the last 2 times i played the map and obtained 20+ kills with it.
Video recording did not work unfortunately when i hit a Blenheim and it disappeared in a big fireball! First time i saw this.

Question to all: was the map ever won by one side? Everytime i played it ended in a draw.

At any rate, I've got no worries. I prefer the Spit 1a 100 octane over the Spit IIa below 20 angels anyway. E4's, E4N's.....bring 'em on!

I find the Spitfire IIa really shines above 25 angels. When I see Ju88's and He111's are being flown, I really enjoy "going hunting". Frequently they're not escorted, but they're still not easy to bring down before they reach their target.

    It's all good, IMHO.

I have noticed your hunting skills on a few occasions. But not many manage to shoot my 111 down when I am at altitude.

    Re: Sealion

Skipping bomb ships should be the same as any other mission. After TF4.0 the water within ~10km of the coast is broken so that bombs fall below the surface & planes explode on impact with water. You can see these areas in the FMB by placing a large object (factory or ship) in the water and moving it around. If the object sits on top of the surface the water is normal, if it drops below the water is borked. I tried to avoid those bad spots as best possible but in the last 30-45 minutes as the ships approach Dover they are passing through one of those bad areas. So for at least 3/4 of the mission length they should be in "good" water.

I still think there is a bit too much going on around the invasion ships and will likely remove several of them to increase performance at some point.

You say this, but above is this

"I've had very little success bombing those ships in this mission., to the point where I no longer bother.
I think there is a problem with the way water is reacting with bombs (they're sinking below the ships, even if they strike the hull)."

I saw this myself last night.

If you say there is a problem with 10km, and just about everyone I know says this setup has issues, how about moving the ships ?

I hate to see a good mission not be playable. To have Blennie pilots say they can't destroy ships and wont bother trying defeats the entire premise of this map (it's no wonder the Germans rave about this map then - lol).

But seriously, can you move the ships and keep the same overall mission intact ?

I think this ugly bug is not yet mentioned in the TF Bugtracker. It would be great if you can add this issue. Elsewise I can also try with my limited knowledge about it.

How many tons of bombs are required to destroy the rail yards? I've never seen them destroyed.

Thanks for this map, Gruber. It is literally my favorite, haven't seen the lightning everyone's talking about though :/

    v1.3 changelog

    - Split the invasion ships into 2 groups in an attempt to eliminate pauses when players get within visual range of the ships. One convoy now crosses from Calais to Dover while another crosses from Boulogne to Folkestone.
    - Reduced % required to complete rail yard objectives.

    Awesome changes- thanks.

That Canterbury railyard was extremely difficult to destroy. I look forward to more 110 raids on that target now!

Would it be possible to repost screenshots from first page, as they ar no longer available?
I drop bombs from Stuka and nothing happened - so I completely missed targets. I probably did not even found them.

    Re: Sealion

    Great stuff.

Its to bad this stuff could not be uploaded to be displayed on the "mission briefs" page on the main ATAG site. Its a cool feature and as far as I can tell only 2 of those missions are still on the server, and, the briefs for those missions are not even close to up to date with what is actually on the server. It would be awesome to see all the missions and there briefings displayed on the main "missions briefings" page again with recon photo's and all the other cool stuff.
