    Operation Relinquish v2.0

Updates will be seen once you see v2.0, Bliss has been sent files so shouldnt be too long.

Added tank spawns near the commandos and panzers. Hope they work.

All German 4cm AA has been replaced with Bofors.

Date change to January 5, 1940. Winter map.

Time changed to 1215, ends at 1615. At 1615 there is still enough light from the sunset, moon glare and ground/snow glare to easily see any and everything.

EDIT: Will add another blue base for heavy bombers with concrete airstrip.

January 1940...you mean, during the "Phony War" period, before Germany invaded France? Or is that year a typo?

Yup, I like the subtle changes. The lighting the last hour is spectacular, should be awesome dogfighting scenes and ground explosions.

@Rebel, nah, just forgot to change it to 1941 when I sent the files to Bliss and figured since its not really historic anyways I wouldn't bother sending him another email with the files again.

Added new blue airfield for heavy bombers. Windsocks also added to top of hanger or control towers for better visibility at all airfields. No reason for blue heavies to sign off now. Clouds and weather are part of real life.

Thanks for the feedback Dietrich, it should be in the rotation tonight and I took your advice, Haute Fa.... or whatever. haha. Big, wide concrete airstrip. Heavily defended as well. 109E3 and 109E4DN available for escort there as well as 111s, 88s, BR20s and 87s.

The map came up this morning, but there was no new airfields. Only the regular ones, and certainly not Haute-Fontain. Salute!

Yeah the brief will say Operation Relinquish v2.0 at the top, plus the new blue field and it is winter and late afternoon. Should be up soon.

    Re: Operation Relinquish v2.0

Sounds like the map is up and working almost perfectly...

For some reason the spawn points for tanks are registering as "spawn all types" so both red and blue can spawn in near Deauville in anything they want on both sides... an obvious problem and interesting... its spawning people in at the nearest airfield which is not remotely close to the tank spawn areas... interesting!

Tank spawns can be a pain to get working so I'll take a look on my end in the AM and I've let Bliss know just in case its something on his end which I doubt. Hopefully I can keep the tank spawns but I'll fix it so we won't see SU-26's shooting red and green lasers and RAF HE-111's or LW Blennies flying around!!!

Sorry for the issues, although it sounds like it was good fun tonight when the map came on!

Probably I've found what renders sometimes the Caen rail yards hard to be destroyed.
Also if you drop bombs on the trucks indicated in the image part of them will be not destroyed.
The once that remain intact can be destroyed only using machine guns and cannons (but it's very dangerous to be done due to the heavy flak around).
I've done no less than 20 bomb test on them and it happens always what stated above.
Just to let it know to you not a criticism at all.
I really like this map!!Great work!

I'll look at that, thanks for the info an pic with arrow. This target has been an issue but I'd think you could still take it out without destroying those rows of trucks but I'll move them closer to the hospital and see if that does anything.

    Re: Operation Relinquish v2.0

    Okay, couple things:

Fixed (Hopefully) the tank spawns. I forgot to change the .mis file after opening the mission again in FMB to change the time before I sent it to Bliss. When you do this, the FMB automatically deletes the tanks and replaces them with every aircraft. This seems to match the reports of what was happening so hopefully it works now.

Blues target in the city of Caen, changed around the trucks (See Hardegen's post) to see if that makes them destroy-able by bombs, also remember that the factories across the river are part of the target and between those two areas there shouldn't be an issue of rolling that target. I checked it, one or two JU88s should be able to take this one out.

    JU-87 added at Le Havre.
    Blenny IV added at Crepon.

    Re: Operation Relinquish v2.0

Thanks Dave, I like it a lot even though it might be rough on lower end machines. Sorry!

I was on it tonight, Red rolled it with 7 minutes left. Myself, Slowbanter and Snarglepuss were really the only Blennies, Chuck flew a couple missions before having to sign off but for that small amount of Blennies and rolling that many targets I was pretty proud.

I flew all 4 hours, had about 10 sorties, 4 deaths, 4 landings, 2 crash lands which one was a capture and one hiding in a French girls hayloft, 3.48 kills and we Blennies were taking out targets like it was cool. Very fun (although I hope Bliss can get the new one up soon which should fix the weird spawn).

Good way to go out since that was likely my last flying time until I come back in May.

Yep the winter landscape was a nice surprise when I logged into the server last week. Great work Spiritus - my favourite mission keeps getting better.

So the SU-26's and captured birds weren't intended? I thought it was an easter-egg mission from you guys!

Had loads of fun anyways, great stuff!

Haha nope, Those spawn points should only allow tanks. If this latest update doesn't fix the problem and I'm back in NE I'll call on Ezzie or Freya to just remove them... or fix them since Freya has got them working in his map.

Speaking of easter eggs.... there is an easter egg in that map.

I like the map very much.

What I dislike however is the fact that some pilots think it is an arcade style free for all and killing spree map. That behavior made it virtually unplayable for me.

I got shot down a lot by teammates as well as enemies in variious planes when taking off from the panzer field so I had to revert to a tank in stead to have some fun. (I checked and they were afaik a Brazilian group not on comms in TS)

By the way, some of the vehicles do not work, The 6 rad and 8 rad vehicles do not work, which is a pity.

Maybe soneone could look into that so that all vehicles will become playable.

That spawn point has been fixed, you should only be able to take tanks out of the Red and Blue spawn points near the commandos/panzers. Vehicles are buggy as hell right now in CloD but hopefully can be looked at.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already but the end time for the mission is potentially a bit late. In the last 30 mins it basically turns into a night mission and it becomes almost impossible to spot enemy contacts. That might've been intentional, I don't know. CloD looks a bit weird at night though. The clouds on my screen looked purple...

Clouds are a tad low as well, I kinda doubt ground control would let their pilots fly in that weather.

I kinda like the darkness around the end of the maps time limit though. Perfect for RAF raids on Blue airfields!

Some tips...when it gets darker increase your flight altitude...more you'll get high more you'll have light available and lower flying contacts will be very easy to be spotted...

Regarding instead the difficulty of spotting enemy AAA emplacements on the ground I've found a solution that worked pretty well...set them all in fire!

After testing it before and after, it really is only the last 15 minutes which are getting to the threshold of visibility issues for spotting contacts, theres still plenty of light to see and navigate. The clouds should look purple/gray like they do for the 10 minutes right after sunset and all the colors are gone, I think CloD has it pretty close to reality.

England is far north of the equator, so the sun will be low on the horizon during the winter months because of the Earths tilt away from the sun during the winter months.... this is why its summer in the southern hemisphere during the norths winter. I don't live there, but I'd assume England gets about 8 hours of daylight during the winter and nearly double that in the summer? The farther away you are from the equator the more extreme changes of daylight you see, and CloD models this very well IMO.

Yes, the last targets the sides should go for are the airfields, thats the easiest way although I honestly have no problem spotting ground targets even in the last 60 seconds of the map.

While ground control might not have let air ops proceed, its realistic to see low level clouds after a winter storm has began to clear. I was going for the idea that it just snowed and the storm began to break rather than its winter and there must be snow on the ground.

Hardegen said it right, gain more altitude and it stays lighter. Also make sure your primary/secondary illuminations are mapped. During testing I thought it was extremely satisfying to roll all the targets while the day slowly faded, then come on final to Crepon in the last couple minutes as the moon started to glare on the wings.

I just like utilizing more aspects of this sim and the hard work done to it. To not have people see and experience weather, clouds, wind and different types of lighting would be a shame IMO.

One thing I've thought about doing, which would take more scripting would be to decrease the mission time, so say 3 hours and 30 minutes. Once that time elapses, then the map is either won or tied but doesn't restart until the 4 hour mark, giving everyone 30 minutes (in the low light) to return to base. I love rolling maps at the end but I'd rather be able to return to base and land. The problem with this is people would take advantage of this and look for easy kills on landing.

Please do not make it a 4 hout map. There are people here who like to fly several maps during several hours of gameplay and a 4 hour map would make it a possibility (judging from the non-random map rotation I have seen so far) that people who every day can for instance only fly between such and such hours will constantly end up on this map.

Two and a half hours, 3 tops should be more than enough for this map.

The maps always been 4 hours. I think almost every map on ATAG is 4 hours. I believe ATAG has implemented a randomizer and even if they didn't, the only way it would become a problem (having maps at the same time) is if either side never rolls any maps.

Two and half hours is not much for those who fly high-level bomber formations. Allowing for assembly, the slow climb out, a circuitous route to avoid enemy concentrations and the journey home, these can easily have a turn around time of 2 hours.

prob fall on deaf ears as high level bombers are like 5% of the community.
