Nope, all the maps I know of and makers make 3+ hour missions and the main reason for that is to give bombers, both high and low level enough time to fly how they want, either low and fast and at many targets or slow and high at possibly one to two targets the entire time. This will never change in my missions.

    Agree 100% Spiritus.

Still haven't flown your updated map yet but hopefully I'll get to do it soon.

Same here for 4 hour duration.

Ah okay, did not know that. I had the idea that most maps lasted about 2 hours or three tops.

And well, I am a bomber pilot liking long flights so I can understand those ideas also.

4 hours in CloD goes by quick doesn't it?

Wish I could say the same thing for a lot of things.

Had a chance to seriously fly this map twice now without playing wth tanks (So Fun). In one instance we were able to roll the map in about 2.5 hours with a small contigent of bombers concentrating their efforts. Once without a roll all the way to a painfully long tie. Did like the change of day thing tough. Just different. Thanks for the change of scenery, good stuff!

I played (badly) on this map this evening. Landed at Thelville with about an hour of map time to go. The sunset on the clouds was incredible - so lifelike.

Finally got to play it a couple of days ago and caught the last hour or so. The sunset is excellent and the change in colour etc is also great. And the gloom does change the tactical environment re visibility and tactics etc which I think helps adds variety to the server rotation.

I found myself humming Sandman while flying for some reason.

    Thanks again Spiritus

This map towards the end makes me wonder if we could do night ops. Have we ever tried that? Blennies (Wellingtons?) sneaking around in the almost dark while being hunted by 110s?

Night works weird in Clod however, I'd like to propose someone test the winter map in a quick FMB mission. Set the time at 4:30 and run it at x16 to see what things look like from 4:30 and on.

The snow may give enough glare to make it doable. Again, this could be completely a waste of time but the snow makes me wonder about it.

Glad you guys are enjoying it too.

Is it possible to freeze the ingame passage of time?

Wouldn't be realistic, but if you want the lighting.. why not?

Okay just done some testing, from 16:00 till about 00:00 the only thing that gets darker is the sky, the ground stays snowy and bright (reflection of the moon?).

I just made a mission that starts @ 16:00 and it's actually very fun, the horizon isn't too dark against the orange of the already set sun but straight above is pitch black! Excellent for RAF nighttime bombers! Also the Searchlights work nicely at that time of day + Flak at night looks scary as hell.

What we need now is flyable Beaufighters in night-time skins

    Re: Operation Relinquish v2.0

Just something that came into mind while tinkering around with the new winter map during night time testing.

If you needed a night mission during summer, you'd have to create a special map for it with brighter and maybe grey/blue ground textures I guess.
Also a slightly brighter skybox texture.
Maybe that fixes the total black-out effect other maps have? I'm not sure how lighting works in this game.. but that's my 2 cents on it.
There's always some sort of ambient light in the darkness, how little it may be.

Also the "lighting" setting in the editor helps a great deal with visibility, it's basically gamma values correct?

That timing of the Beaufighter vid couldn't be better though, super hype!

This is honestly one of my favorite maps, the attention to detail is amazing. PLUS, any map that lets you drive tanks is a win in my book!

    Re: Operation Relinquish v2.0

    Hi SM,

Came back from holidays to minor repairs to the Sim Pit.
First map I get in the air on is the new Relinquish.

All that bloody snow makes it feel all Battle of Stalingrad - but let's not have THAT conversation.

Has anything changed about the water with the winter map?

Usually I can skip bomb the dam by flying up the estuary.
This time I had to dive bomb parallel to the dam.

Might also be a month away lack of flying chops.

    Re: Operation Relinquish v2.0

As far as I know no, I skip bombed the ships fine so the water should be fine, it is clod so if you notice something around the dam document it and add it to the bug tracker.

I missed the dam twice skip bombing when I came back but it did blow on a third try.

Time changed to 1215, ends at 1615. At 1615 there is still enough light from the sunset, moon glare and ground/snow glare to easily see any and everything.
Just my opinion but this map gets way too dark after the first 2 hours. The last hour everything is monochrome and it's pretty much impossible to see anybody.

I gave you all an extra hour, thanks to Bliss for making the change. Even though the light is low the last hour its a perfect time to bomb or learn how.
