Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

I was watching the 1C forums through most of the "Storm of War" development stages and I was greatly disappointed when it had all of its initial problems and ended up being dropped by the publisher. From the videos I have seen you guys have done wonders with the sim.

I bought it when it first came out, and was obviously disappointed. Came across it again more recently after buying BoS, and now... love it! Thanks TF!

Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

Thanks to Team Fusion this sim has been made into the best CFS out there.

It is still suffering from the adverse publicity it received when it was first released as basically an unfinished product. However, since Team Fusion have worked so hard and long to generate the patches it has not only transformed the sim (it is more than a game) but made it the place to be for immersion and fun.

I love the BoB era the sim is set in but am looking forward to TF 5.0 and the Western Desert maps.

I can only agree with yupik21......thanks TF!

I found out about it when I googled FMB questions for Il-2 1946 and everyone was comparing the two games.

Cool Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

Wanted to get into flight simulation and finally chose FSX Steam edition. FSX is good in itself but non combative. My dad was in the RAF in WW2 (Lancaster rear gunner - yuk) and I wanted to fly simulated war missions. Found "Rise of Flight" WW1 sim and CLOD on software suppliers websites. Purchased both approx. 4 months ago. Managed to install the 5 Team Fusion mods and am totally immersed in it. Upgraded my complete hardware in order to run CLOD properly. Have just purchased head tracking kit and trying to commission it - not easy but hopeful. CLOD is great - I wish my dad was still alive to witness how realistic it is.

Cool Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

I was enjoying DCS World and using youtube to "learn more" from the experience of others via "how to" videos when I came across CLOD, ATAG and others. It looked very realistic, totally immersive and great fun - I had to get me some!!

    Thanks in advance Folks....~S~
Thanks sincerely for your response to my initial post (a little help), a couple days ago (1/24/17), your tech tips and guidelines are the Fantastic, but the very best roadmaps may fall short for the sight impaired - hense "GPS" I've been grappling with CLOD for a year now after my initial 'go' in 2012, and I rather suspect that there are plenty of other potential ATAG members out there lacking in techy start-up talent who have thrown in the towel along the way. "refer to your initial "how" question posted 2015 +/-" I will get there in time but the process for me is a long way from "fun"... In my case I moved into computer management just about the time Win98 and networking blossomed and I became brain dead.

Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

I was looking for a Combat flight sim, rather than civil aircraft sim.

Came across some video's on YouTube for IL-2 1946 and C.U.P

Searched for a newer game in the series and came across CLOD.

Both were cheap on Steam, so i purchased them both.

I think BoS is a better entry into prop flight sime, while CloD certainly is the more complex one.

    https://youtu.be/iux7Ak9hKo4

This was the first video clip I ever saw showing Il2 Cliffs of Dover and it blew me away ! The way this guy tore that poor Wellington apart.....I remember thinking " I want to do that ! " I still get a buzz from shredding Wellingtons now.

I stumbled into CLOD really, I had never heard of IL2 at all. The last flight sim I played was back on a Sinclair Spectrum !!!
I had no idea sims had become so realistic. I only found the video by chance as I had really enjoyed playing the sub sim Silent Hunter 3 and I wanted to search for a WW2 bomber equivalent, where I could control the crew and man different stations like SH3. This video was in the Youtube results selection and the rest, as they say, is history....

Some guys spend a lot of time and effort putting together quality videos. It's important people see those videos and have easy access to them. CLOD Team Fusion sells itself, one 2 minute clip was all it took to get me hooked....

Hi all, actually a friend was playing it and I tried it and liked it ( it had the Fusion patches althgough i didnt know that). Went to steam and got it and it was ...well different. After I found the patches totally different and as per my initial introduction to the game.

Now after months i came back to it and trying to make EDTracker work....well that is a challenge!

Followed it initially and read a lot of crappy reviews. Didn't do then, what I normally do, and unfortunatly didn't purchased it anyway... forgot all about it and became the father of three sons

Some month ago while getting into DCS again flying the Tiger I stumpled into CLoD and especially TF Since I have been playing around and now I'm here!

Don't think I've posted in this thread yet...

Responsible for bring me to CloD are the excellent videos of a certain Soren Dalsgaard. Can't remember exactly how I found them (random Youtube browsing?) but those excellently scripted little films are amazing. Thanks Soren - I'm well and truly addicted now!

I bought a new rig and bought this game the same day it was releast. Boy I was amazed until I found out it was nothing to do with it and its buggy behavior. I started to fly it the same day you see when I registered here

Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

Been playing IL2 for years and years, starting before the Ju-87 was flyable. Lately with the B.A.T. and VP Mod packs. I never had a system before that could run CLOD, so I stayed with IL2. I picked up a new system two months ago, so I decided to see what all this "eye candy" was about. So far, so good....I've been able to turn up all the graphics up to Max, and I'm impressed. ...I'll probably stick with single player until I get things down pat. I see that a new North Africa map will be out in a few months. That could be interesting. I haven't given up playing IL2, but the eye candy of CLOD is hard to resist.
I picked CLOD up for two reasons.....I have the system to run it well, and it was dirt cheap.....It's funny, when I downloaded the base game, I couldn't get it to launch until after I downloaded the TF Mod. After I did that, it ran perfectly the first time.

I searched the internet to find a flight simulator with the highest level of realism so that I could enjoy flying again as I have in my past and within my economic capability. It was not for the game per se, but realism of flying high performance aircraft of the WWII era.

I found it here thanks to the ATAG community
ASUS GB20CB Intel I-7 w/Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070, ASUS Swift PG279Q (3), VKB GF/KG12, CH Pro throttle, MFG Crosswind Rudder, EDtracker Pro

Quit your job? Well here I may be able to assist.

I suggest you stay up daft late and then go in smelling of campari and kebabs

It's a winning combination on the job jettisoning front.

here.. I wrote a short play about it:

    Act I Scene I

(chap arrives at work): (this is your part)

oh.. sorry boss chap... I seem to have jettisoned "camparibab" on your loveley new shirt...

    Act 1.5 Scene I
this is your part as well by the way

    "Sorted !"

    Curtains, flowers... and so on.

see... its easy... when you know how.

Re: How Did You Find CLOD?

When the online flightsim / game 'Fighter Ace' closed it's doors in 2010, I began looking around for a replacement. Had dabbled a bit with WWIIOL (Didn't care much for the limited graphics and the high learning curve), didn't like Aces High, Wings of Prey wasn't massively multiplayer (limited numbers per room), blah, blah, blah...

Then I found Cliffs of Dover. Bought the collector's edition boxed set on the spot. However, until now, due to various issues, it has pretty much remained unplayed. Team Fusion's commitment to the game are what brought me back. A derivative of 'Fighter Ace' is in development, which will be ok for simple 'log-in and fight' type play. But it's based on arcade style physics, so something with more immersion and realism is also welcome as a second option where more time is available to get my HOTAS setup ready, etc.

Have watched pretty much EVERY Allied CloD video on Youtube I can find. Now for the hard part, getting up to speed (No pun intended).
