DCS Fw-190 vs P-51 dogfight with EDGE - Spotting works!

A quick dogfight - please ignore my mediocre skills, and appreciate the awesome graphics from Eagle Dynamics!

    1.5 is awesome!

I found the same improvement in aircraft spotting as Flare.

Pre-1.5 I found the enemy contact would suddenly disappear as it extended away. Invariably it would also change direction & altitude after it temporarily disappeared, completely disrupting the dogfighting experience as it magically would reappear from a totally unexpected angle, frequently with guns blazing.

Now we can track the opposing aircraft without interruption and far better counter its moves. I like it!

One small criticism is that the trees are now 2-dimensional cardboard cutouts, interlocking at 90 degrees. This is no doubt to preserve frame rates, which are excellent. This will be more of an immersion problem for low-flying mud movers; the terrain looks fabulous with altitude.

It is fantastic....performance is on par with the BoS engine and it looks better IMHO....and its only a beta! Hope they can smooth out the netcode problems (which are still minor, but CLoD seems to be far better in that department).

Don't have BoS, can't talk about that. IMO DCS WWII is better than CloD in every way apart from Damage Models, Terrain/ground units/amount of content, and multiplayer (netcode and community - can't beat the CloD community.) With the new graphics DCS really takes the edge (pun not intended) and it's flight models and realism will always be better IMO.

However CloD is still more fun since the MP is better

We'll have to see what TF 5.0 brings with terrain. Using DSR Clod looks absolutely beautiful with reasonable frame rates on fairly high end PC's. The annoying shimmering of distant terrain and in-cockpit is much reduced, as are the jaggies with 2xAA. Unfortunately, the trade off is playability -- the higher the resolution the more difficult to spot distant contacts, exacerbated by the smoothing effects of AA. If TF can find a way to eliminate that trade off ie playability vs eye appeal, then this will a huge plus for Cliffs of Dover.
