    Team Fusion 4.0 Install - "Unhandled exception" error

    Hi everyone,

    Nice to meet you all. I bought CloD yesterday and am excited to play it.

    However, I'm just going through the installation process (since this morning!) and have been having an issue with installing TF mod 4.0. I have extracted the files into a folder, so I have the Mod 4.0 Installer (application), Mod-v40 zip file, and the original RAR fale (Team+Fusion+4.0+Mod+Installer+Complete) all in one place. When I double click the application (Mod 4.0 Installer) and hit Install (installing to the il-2 Sturmovik cliffs of dover folder in the steam folder), I get an error that says the following:

    "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close Immediately.

    Cannot read that as a ZipFile."

    I have not tried clicking Continue in case it will corrupt my install and take me back to square 1. Please let me know how I can fix this!

    Thanks,
    SharkBait

    4.0 Installation Problem

    Installation of patch 4.0 is a common issue amongst new players. Below is help...:

    First make sure your antivirus is off, the 4.0 shows what is called a "false positive", wich means the Antivirus program assumes it is a virus because the extracted file is an 'exe' file...So, disable your antivirus and then go to the extraction process by right clicking the downloaded file, choose to "extract same location" with 7Zip program. After that you should be able to continue to install 4.0. When the process is done make sure to make your antivirus program active again.

    I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

    TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!...

    Re: Team Fusion 4.0 Install - "Unhandled exception" error

    Thanks Lewis! I appreciate your response.

    Just a few clarifying questions -

    I actually don't have any anti-virus programs other than Windows Defender. Should I disable it when I download TF mod 4.0 from the internet or when I'm extracting? I also haven't tried unzipping it into the same location so will try that as well... fingers crossed! I'll report back with results.

    P.S.
    Also, while I retry, here is a screenshot and the error message.TF 4 Error.png

    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Go to ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steam apps/common/Il2 Cliffs of Dover/ Redist

    In the Redist folder you can repair and update anything from directx to netframework etc.,etc. Just run all those apps and let it do a verify and repair. Then try starting the game, even if you havent all patches yet.

    Thank you Lolsav! I have actually done that and I believe everything is up to date. The game does run fine (currently on TF mod 3.01 since that's the latest I was able to install successfully). What do you mean by "let it do a verify and repair"?

    Thanks guys! I was able to successfully install TF mod 4.0 and the rest (up to 4.312) after 12 hours of trying. I'm super excited to hop in and play around with the controls now. Appreciate all your help!
