It is the same procedure except trickier as you are trying to look round your stick and fly a steady course at the same time. Rotate the course setter to line up with the compass needle and you will see what your course is then transfer that number to your DG without altering your heading.

Personally I rarely bother. I either just zoom into the compass briefly to see where North is and estimate my heading from that or I just rotate the course setter to my desired heading and then turn until the needle is within the lines. The latter does sometimes involve zooming in for an extended period to get the needle in approximately the right place but once you are lined up you should not need to zoom in again to keep it lined up.

Something that's always bugged me. Does anyone know what the metal 'pointer' is for on the lower left side of the course setter casing?

I'm sure it must have been there for a reason, but can't figure out for the life of me what it is.

This lever is for lock the Course Setter in position (in real P8).

A "Quick-and-dirty" method to read actual course and ignoring DG, acceptable for "over Channel" navegation and "go for home".

Leave Course Setter pointed to plane nose (360/0º as in respawn), look at number the + point in Couser Setter scale, due parallax error need compensate.

Mirror this number for oposite side, is your actual heading.

May I suggest picking up a cheap second monitor (I got mine free as a verge pickup - Reduced-Reuse-Recycle) and running Virtual cockpit. No more having to move the joystick to see the compas!

course setter = compass (is it correct ???)

you mean :

1. set the north at course setter
2. read the number οf degrees
3. set the number of degrees, at Directional Gyro
4. you are ready to fly.
