Just a small upgrade with our chair..simple wooden construction from a man that builds kitchen furniture.
The stick's base dimension were drawn into a millimetre paper sheet..for reference reason...
It is a 20 euros job..the base elevates until it reaches the pilow levell
The frame at the borders of the wooden "balcony"..prevents the falling of the stick making it more stable and secure
The throtle is placed upon an old 4pod stool...we only cut the circular edges under the suggestion of our friend swive

LuseKofte, that quadrant is gold. Love the control column as well.

I've put my spit simpit on hold for a more generic ww2 twin project. It'll be almost all metal save for some delrin knobs and assembled with aircraft hardware, rivets, and sheetmetal. Going for a large trim wheel and a row of 8 levers (rads, throttles, prop, mix). Made a couple of cam stops for the throttles for engaging BCOs, very similar to flight idle-to-reverse setups. Will also have adjustable idle stops, so my Blenny will stop choking at idle.

Going with $12 arduino leonardos (x2) which will give me plenty of programmable I/O and analog inputs.

    Here is my Cockpit

    IMG_1429.jpg

It has a bit of everything, I also use it for IFR-training to practise for my ATPL license.

    IMG_0373.jpg

    IMG_0367.jpg

The fans on the roof are coupled to the canopy-open control via com-port and some transistors,
when I open the canopy in-game I feel the "wind".

    IMG_0372.jpg

Another cool Feature is the installed "butt-kicker", this I recommend to any sim pilot, with- or without
Cockpit (it can also be fixed on a normal chair).
Like that you can really feel the engine running, firing of the guns or impacts of bullets.

Lovely set up romanscho. I like how you have built the cockpit.

I bet now you don't mind being sent to your room

    Very nice!

Got 6 SAITEK FIP´S FOR 1/4 of the price, I really do not know what to do with them. But I figure I can use 4 of them on X plane and see if there are ways to get them to work on COD and DCS .

If not I am afraid I have to start flying FSX or P3D, Worst part is I am drawn to do so

Wow oh wow. Where in the heck did you get that quadrant? Is it a custom fab job or can you buy that and assemble?

@SmokeJumper it's not a kit, just a personal project. I borrowed some design elements from various quadrants I researched online and from working on them. Going to get sucked into a real project (3 way Luscombe ownership), so I need to get this one done! hehe

I suspected that it was some custom fab work. I like to build stuff too. I built a 4x4 and smash rehab houses.

Would you be willing to take some close ups and PM them? My Saitek X55 throttle will crap out one day so might as well build one. I now have enough broken Microsoft Force Feedback sticks to start pulling them apart. I'll obviously share that here when I do.

The latest MSFFB2 stick I picked up for $30! You can find them cheap often enough if you keep your eyes open. The stick is so good I have a Warthog packed away unused. Bought it off Sundog because he also has a FFB stick but customized. Turned out to be sweet. He put an add out and I randomly got to meet him and he ended up having a spare video card to sell me! Made a new friend and got new toys. No complaints.

    Good day.

I buy and sell equipment all the time latest aquifers is something I do not see myself using, but I got these 6 Saitek FIP instruments for the quarter of retail price , quite expensive stuff . It is basically it is small screens showing up to 16 different gauges in one, it got flaps and gear buttons and you can adjust the gauges with two wheels. Pretty neat.
But only for FSX and X plane.

Wow, that is quite a journey you have been on Nails! I admire your imagination and workmanship. It would be great to see you flying your cockpit at some time.

    Cheers for the inspiration

    Re: Show us your cockpit

Nice update nails. Where did you get your screen printing done? Looks superb. I just did some more work on my quadrant. Added a large trim wheel and have started fitting the electronics. Ordered a hall effect sensor to start testing, though right now I have mechanical levers to run the pots. Spacing between the levers is wonky as I haven't finished installing the top.

To paint or not to paint?

    Re: Show us your cockpit

Designed this this afternoon to replace my old, broken cockpit which hasn't been functional for about year.

Bomber setup with stick on platform folded down and out of the way:

    1.png

    2.png

    3png.jpg

    4.png

Fighter setup with stick on platform, locking hinges engaged and yoke slides down out of the way:

    5png.png

Beer/coffee holder on the side and the keyboard rests under yoke area. Should be much easier to get into as well.

Heading to the hardware store now. Should be able to get all the material for under $80.

That pic reminded me of a joke...

A guy walks into a hardware shop:
    - Hi, can you sell me a wrench?
    - I'll be glad to help. What size?
    - the biggest one you have
    - Sir, if you tell me what it is for I could find the ideal wrench for the job
    - Sure, is to use it as a hammer.

Blender is awesome. So are cupholders and more switches than you can shake a stick at.

Lol, I literally used my crescent wrench as a hammer today because my hammer was just out of reach and I was on my back working and didn't want to move for the umpteenth time.

Some progress for the day: Switched the wheel design. I would have had to reinforce the pvc connections if I put it on wheels, and since it is so light now I compromised, works perfectly although I had to JB weld the swivel bearings! Also used those gate latch locks instead of locking hinges on the fighter stick base. Hoping to be finished by this weekend so I can fly again, excited to try flying with a yoke when I take up bombers.

Very nice progress spiritus, I have hopes of getting a yoke for bomber fun someday as well but they just don't have anything on the market that seems worth the $$ to throw at it let me know how that one works out for you (which yoke did you go with?) Love them old stangs, that a 66?

    Re: Show us your cockpit

Yeah, 66 Fastback GT. Bought her when I was 14, worked all through high school to pay the loan off my dad co-signed with me. Now been slowly restoring her... more like taking her apart because I don't have the cash flow right now to start fixing and putting back together, so you must wait Lolsav...

Phoenix, my buddy has been using my basement as a small storage shed for free for the last 6 years so I confiscated what he had, which is the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with the three-lever throttle. Never used the yoke but the levers are awesome, I use them for gear/flaps/bomb bays. Once I try it out I'll let you know.
