    Weekly DCS World Stream

    Dear all,

After the success of the Twitch Stream yesterday, we are going to attempt to do a weekly Twitch stream (when the software is cooperating and I am not traveling). Currently, I am thinking that it will be on Sundays at 1800 UTC time. With the kinks worked out, the streams will be archived for later viewing and users are free to re-broadcast.

It’s my hope that the first weekly stream will be this Sunday, 28 June.

I will also be doing an open Q&A on the channel chat the half hour prior to the stream starting.

    More details to follow…

    Thanks,
    Matt

Next Wags Stream on DCS: W 2.0 Sunday June 28 / 18:00 UTC

    http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...53&postcount=2
The next stream will be a on Sunday, June 28th at 1800 UTC. Although there will probably be some new elements, this stream will for the most part duplicate the previous test stream now that we worked out some kinks. This time should also work better for most viewers.

    http://www.twitch.tv/wagmatt

This stream will also be archived for later viewing for those that cannot make it.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Re: DCS: World News

Some detaill extracted to June 28.

1º Module manager and options boton has moved to the upper position of the main menu. The rigth menu has been reordened.

2º Wags have "installede" a Belsimtek F-5E and a F-15C. (and Flamming Clifft 3). New modules?

    3º New options view.

4º New radionavgation beacons added to the caucassus map.

5º Great quantity of new countries and first show on the editor theater selector pannel of the Straigh of Hormuz Theater.

6º NTTR nevada theater has been extendes to all directios with respecto to the 21 Stream map dimensions. I suppouse 100-200 km or more, but Wags tell the california size can be extended to reach the pacific. wags tell NTTR map can be 64 Gbs size.

Comparative pic of the NTTR map on the 21 June Stream. The Death valley mountains (I suppouse) has gained on definition and detaill.

    Re: DCS: World News

I review otherwise the Stream and on 11:14 minute, Wags tell after NTTR release, the theater map will gain more updates with mew textures, resolution mesh and airbases (Tonopa Airbase has planned), other will be the south part of the map with the National training centre (Fort Irwin) to use them with a Combined arms area to make training / mission and Campaign (vs Opposing Force / 11th Blackhorse Cavalry Regiment?). Other parts can will be update has the Saint George country, with Airport and better detail zone on east NTTR map.

    Re: DCS: World News

Official video by Bunyap, that show the Wags Q&A previous to the June 28 Streaming.

    https://youtu.be/zuGf8ytY4h4

MudSpike Q&A translation, with interesting detaills.
    http://forums.mudspike.com/t/dcs-wor...-june-28th/467
Q&A section was recorded by ED I think, but here's a brief summary of what I remember (all paraphrased, accuracy mistakes are all mine):

Note to self: send @wagmatt an iTunes voucher, as he and his music library have been stuck in a well for over 20 years now.

Updated using @bunyap2w1's video info - thanks!

Q1: Will the ATC system be revamped?
A: Yes, Wags worked with both an F-18 and F-15 pilot to create a more realistic ATC system that is being implemented now. Different landings (emergency, break etc), frequencies, start-up controllers and wingmen. Focus of the team right now.

Q2. Will NTTR trees have collisions? How will they be handled?
    A. Yes, with a single rectangular trunk polygon being solid. Whole forests (rather than urban trees that are more individually placed I guess) are still being worked on and might be done after launch though. Performance is important for this part.

Q3. What is the weather engine and what's due to be improved?
    A. More realistic weather! Nicer clouds, dynamic high/low pressure systems. Support for turbulence, especially around mountains for updrafts etc.

Q4. How many more countries are being added to the Mission Editor?
    A. A pretty extensive list of new countries will be shown in the stream, e.g. Iran, UAE etc. Many are placeholders rather than having skins/units done so far.

Q5. Will we see special target units on the NTTR?
    A. Not really units, but the satellite terrain does have range/circles to use. The map will be hopefully expanded after release to include some more detailed around NTTR and the surrounding range and airports.

Q6. Size on disk of NTTR map?
    A. About 46GB (forty six) for Nevada (Editor: so with DCS 1.0 full at about 27GB, buy stock in SSD makers)

Q7. Possible to fly multiple players in one package, plus AI take the lead?
    A. Yes! In multiplayer the player doesn't need to be lead. Can be any member of the four-ship with an AI lead. Great for datalink systems and more realistic sharing.

Q8. What is the model vis option for? Is the 'smart scaling' (called 'Model Visibility' in the config of DCS 2) a LOD system of seeing aircraft closer (as an option)?
    A. Not really model scaling, it's more just an icon that scales. When an object goes to a single pixel, say, this icon helps other aircraft visibility (if that option is on, it's optional). Great for the WWII aircraft.

Q9. Will the existing free Black Sea/Caucasus map have collisions on trees?
    A. Unlikely, no. That map may be redone and released in the future though (either free or payware). The map is being improved in terms of textures plus in the future improve the mesh, objects and range, e.g. the Crimea.

Q10. Any sound engine improvements in 2.0?
    A. Yes, a new API is being worked on, including position info for 3rd party and mod makers so that it is easy to use. Cleaner separation of sound and game logic, which helps performance.

Well they really better work on the colors. The colors I have seen from screen shots are no where near accurate for the area around St George. That being said It will be a fun Map, I look forward to flying thru Zion NP! I also cant wait to fly the Fillmore Beaver area!!

You are right Freya, There is the town of Virgin down there, but it is south of Beaver.. That being said the I-15 corridor north of St George is known as the Fillmore - Virgin - Beaver area.

In all seriousness the eastern area of that map is one of the most beautiful places in the country, there are two national parks, (Zion and Bryce) and two National Monuments (Cedar Breaks and part of Grand Staircase Escalante ) not to mention numerous state parks; The Tushar mountains to the east of Beaver are over 12,000 feet high. That's Just Utah, on the Nevada side of the map there is Red Rock Canyon Nation Conservation Area and Lake Mead National recreation Area, both of which are quite stunning from 30K feet in the air, not to mention Nevada is the most mountainous state in the US. I know it is a flight sim and we are not there to sight see, but I hope they at least try and do it justice.

Wags interview of thedevildoggamer on DCS: W 2 (first 45 min)

    http://www.twitch.tv/thedevildoggamer/v/7943279

    In summary (by mwd2):
    - Open Alpha will have DCS World 2.0 + NTTR (payware or free for A-10C Beta User) + Caucasus + Su-25T + TF-51D (no split to bring DCS World 2.0 earlier!)
    - Dedicatet Server after the OpenAlpha (no date)
    - All Aircrafts in DCS World 1.0 will work in DCS World 2.0
    - each client in a Multicrew-Aircraft need a Licence for this aircraft
    - tree blocking of sights and weapon impact later (dependent on the performance!)
    - Low Detail Area on NTTR: No Objects
    - NTTR should get an overhaul (hopefully) after release Strait of Hormuz
    - Spitfire (external model) fly in DCS World 2.0
    - the Team is working at MP issue, fix crashes and optimization - if these done, they will release it just the next day.

    Re: DCS: World News

Have ED hinted at a release date yet? I am hoping to see it released by the end of September but I won't hold my breath as I am sure there is still plenty of work to do and bugs to iron out.

    Re: DCS: World News

I think September is probably the date that ED have in mind right now. VEAO announced last week that their P40-F will be released in September and I suspect that's the date they were given by ED who won't want to be doing a minor release in between now and the major DCSW 2 release. Time will tell though.

DCSW 1.5 coming in September - new rendering engine but only Black Sea map. Sounds like a step-by-step transition into DCS 2.0. Probably for the best if it's not ready to keep other things from hanging around too long.

I think this is a good step for open alpha as it allows us to identify any issues with edge before testing the new map rather than doing both at the same time. The most important element for me is the improved performance, particularly online. Hopefully I will soon be stutter free.

    Re: DCS: World News

    Preliminary Changelog DCS: World 1.5

    http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...86&postcount=1
    Dear all,

What follows is a preliminary changelog of DCS World 1.5. Because 1.5 is being built from a new branch of our code, we cannot account for changes made in earlier branches. As such, we had to create much of this changelog based on memory and older bug tracking reports.

Because of this and that we will probably be adding or modifying items, this changelog is very preliminary and subject to change during the Open Beta period. Also please note that we are still awaiting changelog items for most of the BST modules.

As items are added or modified, they will be highlighted in red.

As for the status of releasing the 1.5 Open Beta, we have good news: we created the 1.5 branch (release version) today. Just as soon as we complete smoke testing, we will release it.

    Sincerely,
    The Eagle Dynamics Team

    DCS World 1.5.0 Changelog

    General
New unified executable. Separate executables are no longer used for the front end and simulation.
New graphics engine with the following features: DirectX 11 Support, optimized for GPU rather than CPU, improved lighting and shadowing, and improved graphical effects like contrails, flares and missile trail smoke, improved water
Improved VR support with Direct Display mode and VR front end GUI, but still very much work-in-progress until hardware reaches consumer release versions
    Corrected track synchronization errors

Note: Once DCS World 1.5 is out of Open Beta, we will update the DCS World User Manual to reflect all of the following changes

    Main Menu
Moved Options to icon at top of Main Menu.
Moved Module Manager to icon at top of Main Menu
Created Log-in / Log-out dialog at top of Main Menu
New Login dialog with the possibility to stay logged in
    Options
Changed System / Graphics “Scenes” to “Terrain Textures”. Also changed to Low and High settings.
Added “Ultra” setting to Visib Range. This is for high-end systems only.
Added separate Low and High settings for Heat Blur.
HDR now simply has On or Off settings.
    Depth of Field settings added.
    Lens Effects settings added.
Clouds settings added (no affect until new clouds are implemented).
    Anisotropic Filtering settings added.
    Model Visibility settings added.
    Flat Terrain Shadows settings added.

    Re: DCS: World News

More info to the 1.5 changelog

    http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.ph...86#post2487386
    DCS World 1.5.0 Changelog

    General

    - 0.7.0.0 Rift support with Direct Display mode and VR front end GUI, but still very much work-in-progress until hardware reaches consumer release versions

    Bf-109K-4

-New Options for setting rudder and aileron trim tabs in options menu

    C-101

    - Several cockpit textures issues fixed
    - Parking brake implemented
    - Startup training mission with English voice overs included

a couple of notes about 1.5:

    - We won't build 32-bit binaries anymore. The users of 32-bit systems will stop getting the updates. Steam users will have to switch to a special 'beta' to keep using 32-bit DCS (locked at 1.2.16).
    - Netcode improvements will come later
    - ServMan support is currently broken but will be restored. This will require some minor work on ServMan part. ServMan maintainters are welcome to PM me.
    - The infamous network 'integrity check' was removed and will be replaced with a different tech.

While release build creation and final testing are underway, here are a few images of the new MiG-29 cockpit.
