Minor problem with 4.321 hotfix. SLI does this with hotfix. Worked fine before hotfix.

Hi Icarus,

I've always seen this with SLI. I'm not sure why you're just seeing it now though.

Weird, because I did not get it with the big 4.3 patch. I noticed it worked fine because it was the patch that fixed SLI. As soon as I installed the hotfix...bingo I got that. No biggy.

By the way...
Does anybody know how to activate SLI in CloD? It seems not working in this game.

Hi Vit_unit,

You can use Nvidia Control Panel to force AFR1 or AFR2. Or, you can use Nvidia Inspector to import Luthier's profile;

Profile "Il2: Cliffs of Dover"
ShowOn GeForce
ProfileType Application
Executable " il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/launcher.exe"
Setting ID_0x00a06946 = 0x000240f5
Setting ID_0x1033cec1 = 0x00000001
Setting ID_0x1033cec2 = 0x00000002
Setting ID_0x1033dcd2 = 0x00000004
Setting ID_0x1033dcd3 = 0x00000004
Setting ID_0x1095def8 = 0x00000004
EndProfile

Both methods work for me.

There's some new Beta drivers out 337.50. The good news is that there's a Cliffs of Dover profile now included! It doesn't look like it's SLI enabled though, Im testing it at the moment.

Cheers,

Septic.

AFR2 makes very bad with the GUI for me. Its so messed up its nearly unusable. Again, I don't recall this prior to the hotfix either.

Hi Icarus,

I'm confident that the Hotfix in itself can have no bearing on SLI but maybe something changed during or after installation, perhaps the executable in a different place and not linked? I do suspect that somehow, maybe you didn't have SLI enabled before? I only suggest this because the double cross-hairs is always there when SLI is.

I've spent countless hours over the last three years messing with SLI in Cliffs, it's a game in itself to me. The only reason I continue with it is because I have a GTX590 (both GPUs on one card) and I prefer to see two GPUs at ~25 to 40% usage @<55c rather than one of them at 70% usage and <70c. I couldn't advise SLI for any other reason, I don't believe it's worth it. I run two monitors, second just for device link, maybe it's worth it with a three or more screen high res set up to share the load?

It can and does work for me but you might need to spend some time getting your system to run well with it. I don't get the GUI problems using Luthier's profile. Also, from memory, disabling desktop composition for Launcher cures the GUI problem but introduces screen tearing with Trackir for me.

Hope you get it sorted old chap.

Thanks,

Ya the only thing I can think of as well is that it was off somehow. For sure it did not happen before 4.3. That I know for absolute sure. I tested sli on and off and this did not happen. Come to think of it...Might have been older drivers. That would make it sli/driver dependent.

I use sli for everything else and don't want to have to turn it on and off for CoD. Can you please explain how to use those settings in nvidia inspector. Not sure where to put them.

I don't use SLI but sometimes see that. I assumed it just meant I had accidentally double clicked the launcher.
It does not seem to cause any problems for me.

If you don't want SLI? Then there should be no need to old chap. As long as you have your default in Nvidia Control Panel>Manage 3D settings>Global Settings>Multi-GPU rendering mode> set to NVIDIA recommended. This default will automatically use only use one of your cards for Cliffs of Dover but use both for SLI in games that are supported.

You can use a program such as MSI Afterburner to see how your GPUs are being utilised.

Please ask if this isn't the answer you wanted.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what I was yabbering on about (tired?). I do run it on default and don't need to turn it on/off because the minor issue is not a big issue. However, I do want to try Luthiers profile, but don't know where to put those settings in nVidia Inspector.

Hi Icarus,

Someone's done a good guide somewhere but I can't find it. I'll try and explain.

You need to look for the 'export user defined profiles' button at the top.

Choose 'export all driver profiles Nvidia Text Format' and save them.

Then open that file you saved with Notepad.

Then paste the profile (below) into that file.

Save.

Then look for the 'Import user defined profiles' tab and choose 'Import (replace) all driver profiles (Text Format).

Then choose the 'Add application to current profile' button at the top and navigate to your Launcher.exe in steam programes folder.

If you have an error, you might need to delete the current profile for 'Launcher'.

Good Luck!

Septic.

Profile "Il2: Cliffs of Dover"

Setting ID_0x1033dcd3 = 0x00000004
Setting ID_0x1095def8 = 0x00000004
EndProfile

If you get stuttering with SLI then try locking your frames below the refresh rate in game.
