Curious are these Il-2 firing his unused rockets on his base direction on RTB. :D
I notice on some mission, despite my commands they dont attack targets on ground.

BTW - Injerim, BO$ planes have a realistic FM :lecture: ... for a R/C model airplane (and even break similar to Styrofoam ones). :D
But is a fun game.

Disagree totally The PE-2 LAGG and IL2 got better and far more realistic FM than I can recall any other game has, that said I have not flown any of them. But saying they fly like RC or styroform planes tells me you flown neither of these planes

Hi Mastiff,

Thx for the video.
I like the sky and I am "warming" to the winter landscape.

Obviously you have reasonable gunnery skills. Wondering what are your thoughts on the "hit" model? Seems a few hits from a long way out causes planes to fall apart. Appreciate that this is 43 rather than 40, so improvement in armament is to be expected. But compared to CLoD, either the ammo is far more deadly or the model is generous to the shooter. Maybe being too critical as this is still an Alpha build, so the devs are still assembling the big blocks of the game, fine tuning will come later.

As well as buzzing around aimlessly in a fighter, I enjoy being a war winner and flying bombers (looking forward to the he-111, and a completed JU87). So it will not be much fun if a Yak gives me a casual spray and pray and my aircraft bursts into a bunch of pieces!

thx

That first video is really cool, I enjoyed watching it indeed.

The second video seems like a bug or something as I have not personally experienced it, perhaps something to do with the fact that it is like half done.

Who knows, I guess I will do some experiments, see if I can make that happen myself reliably and if so, I suppose reporting the bug would be the next step.

Of course I dont fly any of then, nor pretend fly in a Styrofoam one. :)

Does not seem that this aircraft has little weight?? Like R/C ones (http://www.crodog.org/slowstick/plane%20in%20tree.jpg). ;)

I dont doubt of "realism" in BoS FM, much less of the il-2, after all if you just release (neutralize) the joystick this plane do a looping itself... :D

But is a fun game.

Due to no trim, but the fact is I got your opinion on the 109, but the LAGG and PE 2 Are a handful to fly. Reading how they performed and flying them I can only say hurrah
Finally something new within flightsim.
Don't get me wrong I think many things are missing , but trying to survive in these two planes are pretty entertaining

I'm having fun with it (BOS), I posted those vids because Squirrel was testing out the FM awhile ago and It got me laughing :) Wasn't trying to knock it :P

I know, I just answered 1lokos.
For me this game only feature is to fly 3 russian planes and try to survive offline against ace opponents. I have great fun doing it in this order.
PE-2 ( try to do anything fishy in that one) Too me as a sim pilot only is the best modeled plane to date in all true ww2 sims. (DCS I have flown too little to compare)

LAGG Give me the same feeling, you truly understand how impossible it is to fight BF-109 with it in real life. In CLOD you always got a shot at it no matter plane you fly.

IL2 This plane got potential, it feels heavy but something is missing. Maybe when they manage to implement trim we will see.

YAK 1 Well it is a great opponent to the BF 109 but to me it does not feel right.

BF 109 Like flying WT

JU 87 Same feeling as IL 2 a bit disappointing, I like the stuka pit in CLOD much better.

I tend to disagree. I had a few fights on line in the 109 to see how it was developing. One particular bloke in a Lagg shot me down several times. Now, I don't claim to be much chop in a 109 but that said, I was still trying pretty hard . Bit of a wake up call actually.

First off Mastiff, I enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting. Secondly I am pretty stupid when it comes to FM or such. But like I've always said, in some things, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to see something that might not be right. The 109 you shot down about mid video seemed to fall apart in mid air. Now I'm not debating the FM here merely saying that it just didn't look right. Now if the tank had ignited, perhaps via Hollywood special effects, and it had been blow apart, then perhaps falling apart could be explained. But if not then that 109 was in some very poor shape structurally wasn't it. But ALPHA is ALPHA and so the testing goes on. I do like what I see though when I'm not being nit picky.

I only tried online once, I did not shoot anyone down I think , but I hit 3 BF-109 over a airfield. I did it easily but they was not looking over their shoulder . I think it is not many clod fighter pilots in there.
Because they know they have to watch their six. If you fly offline missions on qmb and put BF 109 ace agains you, you will see a different pattern.

thx

hit model still WIP.

and as the DEVs have siad they watch 100s of film cans on WWII planes gun cams and came to a conclusion that, most planes shot went down or killed a pilot with 1 to 3 second press of the triggers.
also I do not think there will be vertical convergence, only horizontal.

but still only 49% and still work is being clamored out.

not sure if the damage model is going to be more detailed.

I do know that if I get hit by debris it makes damage.

Hi Mastiff,

Thx for the response.

Interesting their report on the combat footage.
Modelling individual round trajectory is included in many games so I'm guessing the devs have this under control.

As a gamer a lot of these things are about perception and previous game experience.
So I could easily be incorrect about what I expect to see in the game and what the devs have produced in accordance with their research.

They say they are aiming for simulation so I guess we can only take their word for it.

As a WW2 aficionado I'm hoping BOS will be the new benchmark in FM/DM for aircraft of the era.

The thing that bugs me a little about the DM is that even the tiniest squirt of mg fire anywhere towards the fuselage seems to result in the attacked plane spewing out smoke. Makes me think the effects are scripted rather than calculated where rounds to a certain area cause either x, y or z damage rather than working out if the rounds actually hit / penetrated a certain area. ROF DM was a bit smoke and mirrors too where it looked like it was more complicated than it really was. I was hoping for a CLOD / DCS level DM where each individual bullet strike is mapped and a system in your plane will only take damage if the round passes through it. Right now BOS isn't giving me that impression but I could be wrong - it'll just have to be tested out to see how it really works.

I wish you would pose that question over there?

well as far as I know they must have been cause there's been some response, on our beta testing build about DM, so they are working on it.
