Announcement: DCS Warbirds Collection

VEAO Simulations Ltd, London, 22nd April 2014.

VEAO Simulations are pleased to announce that we are in contract to develop the “DCS Warbirds Collection” for the DCS World flight simulator.

For the first iteration, the following aircraft modules are being developed:
HA-112 Hispano Buchon
Supermarine Spitfire Mk XIV
F8F-Bearcat
Curtiss P-40F

All aircraft will have the External Flight Model (EFM) and Advanced Systems Modelling (ASM) to DCS fidelity standards. As with all of our modules, we will develop these aircraft to military specifications.

The modules in the collection will be released separately, as they are developed, and will be sold for $39.99 each.

We expect the first module to be ready at the end of this year (Q4 2014) with the remaining modules expected for release up to Q2 2015.

Future aircraft in the collection are being discussed, as well as terrain maps, and further details will be announced at an appropriate time.

A separate team is working on these modules which will not affect development of any current module.

We would like to thank the Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics for their continued support, as well as you, the community, for the overwhelming support you give us.

Chris and the VEAO team.

Interesting! Could help flesh out DCS WWII a bit more, especially if more aircraft are in the works.
Hurricane please ;)

Well... but this Planes will be available in the DCS WW2-Setting too, right? I mean, they can be put into missions together, right? Sorry, i am not that familiar with the DCS-Structure..

One of their devs (Pman) said from the information received from ED that there's no reason their planes can't be incorporated into DCS WW2 - should be "perfectly compatible".

That is good news apart from the Buchon - fugly thing that it is.

But if it's incorporated into DCS:WWII then it becomes pay to win doesn't it? I mean, who will have a Spit IX if a XIV is there to buy?

I want both. The mission designers will determine which aircraft is available to use. Do you expect everyone will be flying 262's as the existing plane set will offer?

Great news! I'll definitely be getting the Spitfire Mk XIV. I'd love to see a Hurricane Mk II, as well. DCSWWII is looking better all the time. :)

WOW!

Also pman confirmed that these a/c should be compatible in DCS WW2:

integration with DCS 1944 possible?

I dont see any reason why not, the information we have is that they should be perfectly compatible.

Can will be integrate / work in cooperation with 1944?
the "future" maps will be centre on England / commonwell maps / scenery?

I answered this above regarding the integration with 1944. It is our expectation that all our aircraft will be fully compatible with DCS WW2. As for future maps, I really cant say at the moment, as/when I am able to confirm regions I will

Glad the Spit XIV is being made - it'll be more equal competition for the likes of the 109K-4.

I'm not too sold on the Buchon personally though I understand their reasons for doing it. But the Spit, P-40 and Bearcat are insta-buys for me. The guys making it are mad about WW2 birds which is bonus - should be a quality product. The Fighter Collection has all these planes so hopefully they'll have good access to data and pilot feedback on flight models.

That I mean, who will have a Spit IX if a XIV is there to buy?

Me. A IX is far more manoeuvrable than a XIV. A XIV is a 'Boom n Zoom' - er. a IX can do it all. Just ask Johnnie Johnson. :)

You can never have too many Spitfires! The more models, the better.
2015 is looking like it's going to be a very good year for flight sims.

Who the hell wants to fly a buchon?

Yeah the choices are questionable as far as why those..? Randomly placed across theaters and timeframes. Obviously not meant to fly together.

Oh well the spit 14 will make things more interesting!

Who the hell wants to fly a buchon?

Wouldn't be a favourite of mine either but for now the guys seem to prefer to concentrate on planes that they have direct access to via Duxford / The Fighter Collection. There's a couple of Buchons there so presumably they'll be able to get good feedback which will help make things more accurate. TFC has a Spit XIV, P-40F and a Bearcat so probably more real life feedback available there too.

Whatever about the Buchon I'll definitely be getting the other three even if they are bit of a mix and mash. Hopefully once they move onto Day 2 development they'll be able to do a theatre specific set.

Spit XIV dev diary : here : http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=335

What to expect for us Spit fanboy ?? A DCS high acurate standard Spit !! a late Spit to fight Dora in high altitude and dives !
can't wait for this. What we mes know about this Spit XIV ?

"I have to wait for one year to get Spitfire XIV in DCS?

Current eta is end of q1 / early q2 2015"

" It is a Griffon 65 that we are doing with 21lbs of boost.

Factory standard for the 65 was just under 18 lbs (17.7) to be precise. "

"will be EFM to PFM standards
• Full ASM
• We will be doing the low back version with clipped wings. "
"It will prob be a E type wing though"
"bubble canopy with low level rear fuselage "
"The Spitfire was designed as a short range, high performance fighter, it's origins date back from point defence.
Some of the later marks had pressurised cockpits et al for high altitude work but it was by no means designed as that from day one.
Clipped wings were more common on MkXIV's then elliptical ones, plus us having access to several clipped wing spitfires helps us with the production process."

"Are sounds going to be recorded from the real aircraft? I'm hoping you guys manage to recreate that griffin snarl!
Yes it will be"
"What I can tell you is that I have 5 real world Spitfire pilots who have agreed to fly our simulator to ensure that we have the highest level of precision in any Spitfire Mk XIV simulator anywhere "

" mk XIV was the best to catch V1 "

11517
Late model F Mk XIV of 41 Squadron with the cut down rear fuselage and clear-view canopy. Germany, May 1945
It could climb to 20,000 ft (6,100 m) in just over five minutes and its top speed, which was achieved at 25,400 ft (7,700 m), was 446 mph (718 km/h).

Here original Pilot Notes to learn it ( you have time to do .... )

I would like to have a B-17 or A B-26 marauder in this game and a DO-217 K . But with the standards in this game it will take two years. Only dogfight does not in my mind sound like lasting fun

B-17, B-24 both or either. Any ground attack aircraft eg. Typhoon, P-47, Stuka etc. All get my vote :salute:

Best regards.

I'm confused, or just didn't read closely enough. Is this Spitfire XIV replacing the Spitfire IX promised the Kickstarter investors?

No - we will be getting both a Spitfire IX (from ED) and a Spitfire XIV (from VEAO).

Me. I want the manoeuvrability, and seriously, who wants to fly a bubble top clipped wing Spitfire . . . And also the IX is coming out before the XIV.

I'm looking forward to both Spits. The IX will be a pleasure to fly, but I believe the XIV will be the Kurfurst and Dora killer. :devilish:

I'll have to check but I think there was a Canadian Squadron that flew the clipped wing XIV with a unique yellow striped spinner.'
