Multi-Squadron Campaign I hosted by ATAG - Rules & Registration
The goal of the campaign is to provide a mission environment where squads can cooperate with or compete against other squads to achieve a common goal & have fun. Squads will choose to either participate for the red or blue team. The red team will operate out England and the blue team will operate out of France. The campaign is designed to be simple to administrate/maintain and intentionally lacks complexity.
Campaign Duration: 10 missions. Beginning May 31
Mission Length & Time: 2.5 hour missions every Saturday & Sunday @ 2000 CEST (Europe) / 1400 EDT (North America).
Schedule:
Mission #1 - Saturday May 31
Mission #2 - Sunday June 1
Mission #3 - Saturday June 7
Mission #4 - Sunday June 8
Mission #5 - Saturday June 14
Mission #6 - Sunday June 15
Mission #7- Saturday June 21
Mission #8 - Sunday June 22
Mission #9 - Saturday June 28
Mission #10 - Sunday June 29
All missions start @ 2000 CEST (Europe) / 1400 EDT (North America).
Game Version: TF mod v4.312
Max Player Limits: 50 red pilots, 50 blue pilots
Min Player Requirement: Each team must have at least 20 pilots to start the mission. After the mission starts the min player requirement is lifted. No forced balancing of teams.
Battle Area: Entire English Channel 1940 – Summer map
Objectives:
Red: Destroy (5) blue airfields in France. Defend (5) red airfields in England.
Blue: Destroy (5) red airfields in England. Defend (5) blue airfields in France.
Airfields:
Each team begins the campaign with 5 airfields of their choice located within their territory on the English Channel 1940 - Summer map. These airfields will be the only points from which an aircraft can be created. Several decoy spawns will be added to prevent players on the opposing team from easily seeing the target locations on the map. Players will be unable to spawn aircraft from the decoy spawns. Airfields that are spawn points will feature a windsock at the start of the runway. The presence of a windsock will be the key identifying feature to the opposing team that the airfield is a target. Teams will need to conduct their own reconnaissance to locate the enemy target airfields.
Airfields can be destroyed by placing bombs on the runways and surrounding areas. A bomb hit will trigger a message in the server chat console indicating the damage inflicted. The payload from 15 bombers is required to destroy the airfield and complete the objective. Airfield damage is persistent from mission to mission and does not repair.
Each airbase has local air defense consisting of 1 x air raid siren, 4 x MG (Zwillingsockel36), 8 x light AAA (Bofors or 4cm), & 16 x heavy AAA (3.7” or 8.8cm). Teams are allowed to position the air defense as they please within a 10km radius of the airfield it is attached to prior to campaign start. After campaign start the position of the guns cannot be changed. Air defense assets can be destroyed during the mission but the damage is not persistent. Once an airfield is destroyed its air defense is removed prior to the start of the next mission.
Planeset:
Each team has a variety of single engine fighters as well as a heavy fighter for long range escort. The use of these aircraft is unrestricted. Each team is provided with 1 bomber type of which no more than 20 can be in use at any time.
Blue – Bf 109 E-1, Bf 109 E-3, Bf 109 E-4, Bf 110 C-2, Ju 88*
Red – Hurricane MkI 100oct (Rotol), SpitfireMkIa 100oct, Blenheim IVF, Blenheim IV*
*Subject to agreement. Each side can select their bomber of choice for the campaign.
Refly:
Refly will be allowed in the campaign provided a pilot safely lands at any airfield in friendly territory. The pilot may then respawn in any aircraft available. There is no limit to the amount of sorties a pilot can fly in a mission but each must end with a safe landing at a friendly airfield. A player may spawn a new aircraft in the event of a bad spawn or runway accident. After the player’s aircraft is safely airborne a message is posted to the chat window that details the player by name indicating a successful takeoff. Once you safely takeoff your virtual pilot's life is now at risk. After takeoff if the player’s aircraft is destroyed for any reason (enemy fire, engine mismanagement, launcher crash, etc..) they are eliminated from the mission & must immediately exit the server. This rule will be enforced via the server log file. Failure to follow this rule will result in a warning for first offense, mission ban for second offense, and campaign ban for repeated offenses up to including the removal of the squad from the campaign & future events. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Safe Landing:
When you land at a friendly base look for a message in the server chat "YOUR NAME returned to base" or "YOUR NAME is safe on the ground" you are eligible to refly. You should also see a message from the server confirming you landed in friendly territory, "YOUR NAME landed in friendly territory".
If your sortie ends in a way that does not result in the server chat saying "YOUR NAME returned to base" or "YOUR NAME is safe on the ground", then you may not refly and you must exit the server.
Examples of safe landing server messages:
9./JG52 Hans Gruber landed in friendly territory.
9./JG52 Hans Gruber is safe on the ground.
9./JG52 Hans Gruber landed in friendly territory.
9./JG52 Hans Gruber returned to base.
In basic terms if you do not see the above messages at the end of your sortie you should not refly. When the logs are reviewed to investigate a violation of the rule I will be looking for the takeoff message followed at some point by either a landing message or the player exiting the server. If I see multiple takeoff messages and no landing, then we’ll have a problem.
Rearm & Refuel:
Use of <rr is allowed if it is working on the server.
Missions:
Each mission will be played on the ATAG #2 server, which will be password protected. Passwords will be posted in the campaign forum at least 1 hour before mission start. Missions will begin at 2000 CEST and last for 2.5 hours. After 2.5 hours another message will be displayed indicating the battle is over and pilots should return to base. At this point all targets are locked and any targets damaged will be disallowed. Pilots will then have 15 minutes to disengage from combat and return to base before the server shuts down and returns to its normal map rotation. Each mission will feature random weather and time of day.
Server Trouble:
In the event of a server crash, in which all pilots are removed from the server, the following will apply:
- If the server crash occurs prior to 20:50 CEST*, the mission will restart 10 minutes from the time of the server crash and will run the normal length. Any results prior to the server crash will be discarded and all players are eligible to fly on server restart. If another server crash should occur after 20:50 CEST, the mission will be postponed to the following week.
- If the server crash occurs after 20:50 CEST, the results up to that point will be official and the mission will be considered complete.
A temporary condition where the server stops responding for a few minutes but then recovers does not qualify as a server crash. Pilots should not exit the server if it stops responding and should wait for a timeout message.
Server Rules:
- Participants must be on ATAG teamspeak during the mission.
- Participants must use squadron or group tags during the mission.
- No intentional team killing.
- No abusive chat. Be polite & respectful to all participants.
- No cheating or exploits.
- Skin markings must be enabled.
- Vulching is allowed.
- Follow the refly rule.
Commanders:
It is urged that each team nominate a few individuals to help lead & organize their team. It is especially important that somebody facilitate the rotation of pilots during the mission and communicate with pilots or squads waiting in reserve.
Registration:
This campaign is intended for squads and groups who enjoy fighting & flying as a team. The campaign requires both fighter & bombers pilots from each team to be successful. To register for the campaign please post your squad name, tag, list of members who will be participating, the side you wish to fly for, and acknowledge you have read & agree to the rules. Pilots who are not in a squadron can either find a squad willing to let them fly under their tags or create an ad-hoc group with other lone pilots.
What can you do to help?:
ATAG is generously offering their server & teamspeak for use of the campaign. I am offering my time to setup the missions & administer the campaign. Any assistance in advertising the campaign & finding squads/pilots to participate is greatly appreciated. Your participation on the forums is also needed in formulating a plan for the mission as well as organizing what pilots start the mission or wait in reserve. Please only signup if you plan on participating in the campaign. Finally, attend the missions and have fun. There is no requirement that a pilot/squad participate in every mission or fly in every minute of the campaign.
