PLEASE NOTE. V4.00 OF THE MOD FILES BELOW IS REPORTED AS HAVING A VIRUS. IT IS A 'FALSE POSITIVE' AND THE FILE(S) HAVE BEEN CHECKED MY MULTIPLE USERS (AND DOWNLOADED AND USED BY THOUSANDS).
Due to this you may need to disable your anti-virus when downloading or installing. Please be aware we know about this, it has been reported, and the file is clean.

In a bid to tidy up the threads a little here are the links to the installers for the Team Fusion MODS.

Team Fusion v3.00 (the first Mod):

Hi everyone,

The patch is finally ready. Below is just a snippet of changes found within the Team Fusion v1 3.00 release. An absolute incredible amount of work has been done in very short amount of time. We hope you enjoy it. This is the just the start of what we have planned for the future. There are very good times ahead.

**Special note for Russian users:**

Edit the "confuser.ini" file under "my documents" and add the following two lines:

[MOD]
GameLanguage=Russian

**This will give you the Russian version localization files**

AIRCRAFT
All Aircraft Reflections
* Added reflections from the sky and clouds to all aircraft surfaces (the effect depends on the weathering setting. 100% weathering=no effect, 0% weathering=brand new propaganda poster looking shiny aircraft. Set the weathering slider to your personal liking).
* Added reflections to canopy glass surfaces.
* Lowered the whitening effect from sun reflections in the propeller.
* Increased reflectiveness for distant glass surfaces (the effect seeks to simulate the real life phenomena of sun reflections in glass surfaces being very easy to spot at long distances).

All Cockpits
* Altimeter algorithm revised and more accurate on the new default setting of 1013mB.

Blenheim Cockpit
* Corrected compass markings.
* Decayed radium paint corrected back to 'as new.'
* Oxygen gauges now show 'contents.'
* Starboard throttle controls corrected to green.
* Heir file edited to remove old oxy gauge needle.

Hurricane Cockpit (All models)
* Replaced 37 gallon spitfire fuel gauge with 33 gallon hurricane fuel gauge.
* Corrected course setter ring cardinal point coloration.
* Added compass correction card to holder.
* Positioned oxygen gauge needles to simulate oxygen in the tank (gauge remains non functioning).

JU87 Cockpit
* Corrected incorrect Kraftstoffrest label.

Bf110 Cockpit
* Corrected German "Prebluft-Druckbehalter" tooltip.
* Corrected incorrect Bombenzunder label.
* Corrected incorrect "drucken" label.
* Corrected incorrect Kuhlerklappen label.
* Corrected incorrect "Pumperprufung" label.
* Fixed Bf110 fuel switching mechanism.

Spitfire Cockpits
* This mod creates separate pits for 3 'classes' of Spitfires, MKI, MKIA and MKII.
* Changes have been made in the MKI/IA pits to better reflect the evolution of the Spitfires cockpit. through the Battle of Britain period. MKII is left 'standard' with the exception of corrections to compass markings.

Tiger Moth Cockpit
* 'Grey' needles now white.
* Instrument faces corrected to '40 era types.
* 'football team names' replaced with correct markings in T&S gauge.
* Compass markings corrected.

BALANCING
This is always the bogey man with flight sims. No attempt at balancing per se has been made. The intention was to achieve documented performance with each type. If this could not be achieved (due lack of Sim coding capability and or knowledge of that code) then the relative performance between comparative types was the goal. We wont ever get it perfect. Ceilings are a case in point.

Huge amounts of work have been done here to eliminate or minimise the CLOD altitude bug. Varied methods have been used to achieve this (and the methodology will be kept to those that need to know) . In the end we set a baseline minimum altitude capability of 30,000ft/9133m for most single engine fighter types and this has been achieved. Some types (for you to find out) can fly a bit higher than this.

NEW TYPES
BF109E4N is now included. This is basically a 109E4 with DB601N running C3/100 octane fuel. Its a suitable adversary to the Spit IIA.
Introduction of 100 octane variants of the Spit MKI and Hurricane MKI 2 pitch types.

STRUCTURAL G
We have implemented Structural G based on Ultimate load to all flyables. This does not take into account weight reduction due fuel and or a stores expenditure. At this stage blanket Ultimate load values of +10/-4 have been applied to all single engine fighter types. Heavy Fighters BF110 +8/-3. Exceed the ultimate load and you will lose a wing. Few if any types have sufficient elevator authority to exceed the negative G limit. No deformation due to minor over G occurs. At this stage it is beyond the game engine capability. Heavy/Medium level bombers (HEIII,BR20, +4/-2), Medium DB (JU88)Blenheim IV , +6/-3, JU87B +10/-4 Values not added to AI types until we are sure of their reaction. You may decide that a specific Key binding is required for the bombers to set up their elevator pitch sensitivity to minimise the risk of Overstress. These were big aeroplanes with significantly higher stick forces than the fighter types.

TRIM CHANGE WITH FLAP
This has been corrected so that a nose down trim change will occur with flap deployment. It is most noticeable in the Spitfire with its simple two position flap system. It is barely noticeable in BF110. IRL the BF110 had a fairly strong natural tendency to pitch up with flap selection, this was countered by a mechanical interconnection with stab that moved automatically to compensate the trim change. This mechanism is not modelled in CLOD. We have represented this by a very slight up trim change with flap selection.

TRIM CHANGE WITH LANDING GEAR
Most aircraft types with longitudinally operating landing gear (Blenheim,HEIII,BF110,BR20,JU88 etc) experienced some trim changes with Landing gear extension. There are two reasons for this C of G change and a raising and or lowering of the drag line. These 2 factors generally operate against each other, however the C of G change tends to dominate. In those types with longitudinally operating landing we have incorporated a Nose UP trim change with gear extension, and vice versa.

ATMOSPHERE
-All maps now start at Standard ISA conditions 1013mb/760mm/15C
-Propeller icing removed so in-cloud flight possible
-Default Wind now zero (previously a hidden wind was present).

Altitude (M) V Temp (C)
0............. 15C
1000......... 8.49
2000......... 2.01
3000......... 4.47
4000......... 11.0
5000........ -17.58
6000....... -24.18
7000...... -30.75
8000....... -37.21
9000....... -43.5
10000...... -49.35

ALTIMETERS
All Flyable aircraft altimeters are now set to an initial or default Sub scale (QNH) setting of 1013mb or 760mm. Given the new standard map sea level pressure you shouldn't have to adjust the altimeter setting. Full ability to vary the setting is unchanged. So if you like to fly on QFE you can do so. Altimetry routines have been extensively re written. This has affected all aircraft ceilings and Vmax at altitudes from those achieved in the stock game. Cockpit Altimeter and No cockpit altimeter should now be in close agreement. RAF Altimeter minimum subscale setting is now 940mb. In addition a conversion factor related bug between Metres and feet in Wonder Woman view has been corrected.

100 OCTANE and C3
100 octane versions of the Spit I DH 2 pitch and Hurricane DH 2 pitch have been introduced. The 87 Octane 2 pitch aircraft versions are still available. Having 100 Oct versions available to all RAF types accurately reflects the situation in BOB. In addition C3 100 Octane BF109E4N is in this release.

OVERHEAT ROUTINES
Basically the Cooling capability is defined by being able to run for 5 minutes at the 5 min rating at Full throttle Height (FTH) with Rads Fully open at Climb IAS. This represents the worst possible scenario of max engine heat output with minimum cooling due to lower mass flow (Density and climb IAS). Increased altitude does provide some beneficial cooling but the effects of lower mass flow dominates. In the end the rationale is if the system can achieve the 5Min Rating in this scenario it will handle most other (less limiting) scenarios such as high speed Vmax runs (Though at FTH this is only just at any other altitude no issues) or sustained operation at lower levels with lower RAD settings. You should be able to push things a little harder in the lower altitudes than previously.

In addition we have also utilised some additional tweaks to alter the temperature rise profile. This results in much better and consistent rise of coolant temperatures. This can now be used as a reliable indication of just how far you can push it. However, remember the other limits like time for a given power setting etc. Stay inside the limits and you will be safe. The single most dominant factors in the TF Overheat module are radiator position and Mass Flow. For a given radiator position mass Flow is the MOST IMPORTANT factor. Mass flow is a function of Altitude and IAS. In very basic terms low Altitude is best, High IAS is best. High Altitude and low IAS is the worst combination. Sustained max turn performance fighting is very demanding cooling wise. On the other hand straight lines and high speed are the least taxing of flight regimes on the cooling system. Intelligent "management" of your cooling system will reward you with the best performance.... get slack with it and you will get burnt or get sub optimal performance for your tardiness.

FMs are not perfect and never will be. BF109 Spin Departure characteristics are now gentler. It will still flick but immediate relaxation of back pressure will prevent departure. You will notice more attention to prop pitch is required. Prop pitch blade angle rates are adjusted to documented figures. Auto setting works but is not quite as good as manual. You will achieve slightly better performance with manual.

Prop pitch on the HEIIIH/P and JU88 were previously Hybrid Constant Speed systems that were very loose. Historical data indicates that the HEIIIH and P had straight out Variable Pitch (VP) props. These have now become the standard prop for these two aircraft. Directionally the mechanisation is the same as the BF109 and BF110. The JU88 is a special case. Documents indicate that the JU88A1 had a special limiter mode that limited RPM to 2350 and was designed for Take Off and Dive deliveries but it was not a conventional Constant Speed system. In other Flight regimes a Manual mode was selected and then the prop system was a standard VP system. At this stage it is not possible to model the Limiter Mode accurately. In RC4/RC5/RC6 after extensive rework the JU88 is now also a straight out VP system. There were some issues at altitude with the JU88 and getting the pitch coarse enough to hold 2100RPM at 5000m. This had been addressed in RC6 and should no longer be an issue. Directionally the new JU88 VP, HEIIIH/P VP system is the same as the BF109. The only odd man out in the German side of the house is the JU87. Its CSP system is directionally the same as the RAF types. Because of these variations it may be better to have dedicated Key binding Files for the JU87. You can copy Key bindings and save to a specific name and chop and change these even in mid-flight. A simple way is to have a Master key binding file. Then use this as the basis to make alterations required by individual types. Save the new file with the types name.

GENERAL
* Disabled the mirror rendering. It was discovered that, besides looking to a side instead of back, it was the cause of some game crashes. An attempt will be made in the future to correct it.
* Server no longer gives 'murder' messages with kills.
* AI Pilot and aircrew head movement restored.
* Additional crew animations restored.
* Gun Convergence issue where labels in the setup were reversed now fixed.

SHIPS
* Added British flower class Corvette.
* Added Hospital ship.
* Additional cargo ships skins.

SKINS
* Accurate high quality uniforms.
* High quality faces.
* Removed the enforced weathering on all marks of Spitfire, Hurricane and bf109.

Please note that the QM weathering slider is slightly bugged: 0% weathering does not work, so choose any value above that and you will be fine.

Hotfix v3.01

This mini patch addresses the following items:

1.HEIIIP/H and JU88 reversal of Prop pitch Lever animation.
2.DB601 inability to over rev even with Full Fine Pitch selected.
3. Spitfire 2 Pitch Prop Limited VP operation
4. elevator Authority adjustments at high speeds for HEIII and BR20

HEIIIP/H JU88 PROP PITCH
Propeller Pitch Levers and on screen lever helper icons will now move in the correct direction with propeller pitch changes. That is Prop pitch levers will move forward as Prop Pitch is "fined up" (clockwise movement of Pitch clock)
Prop pitch levers will move rearward as Prop Pitch is "coarsened down" (Anticlockwise movement of pitch clock)
This fix also returns the "directionality" of the prop pitch system. So HEIII,JU88,JU87 are all the same and in the same directional sense as other types in the Sim except the BF109/BF110 that remain as previously coded. In other words its the same as its always been in directional terms. Props remain as VP props without governing.

DB601 OVER REV
DB601 will now over rev beyond 3000RPM in manual. Any exceedence of 3000RPM will result in severe engine damage in <15 seconds

SPITFIRE MKI 2 PITCH VP ADJUSTMENT
The Spitfire MKI 2 pitch system could in fact be used with limitations as a Variable Pitch system. Though not exactly designed with this in mind it was found by pilots that careful 'jiggling' of the Prop pitch control allowed them to set any desired RPM rather than just Coarse or Fine pitch setting. This did not provide the complete flexibility of a dedicated VP system but did allow intermediate RPM control. This was good for certain flight phases like climb and Cruise. Due to limitations in the Pitch plunger design it does not really lend itself to combat flying. In this patch we have enabled the pilot to select a desired RPM. Blade angle change rates are still the same as was used in the original 2 Pitch system. We have not changed the 3d modelling of the Pitch lever, this will be done at a later stage. In the real aircraft the Pitch Change control was of a plunger or Push Pull type control.
Note: Their is no documentary evidence to suggest that this Prop pitch quirk was applicable to the 2 Pitch set up in the Hurricanes. Hurricane 2 Pitch types therefore remain unchanged.

ELEVATOR AUTHORITY FOR MEDIUM BOMBERS
We have adjusted elevator sensitivity for the HEIII and BR20. Actual G limits remain unchanged.
This Tweek now reduces Elevator authority as a function of IAS. In effect this stiffens or increases the Stick force per G as IAS increases. This closely approximates the higher stick forces found in the larger aircraft. It is still possible to overstress these aircraft but only at high IAS and with full elevator applied. If Elevator trim is also combined with a really good "yug"then the G limit will be reached at a slightly lower IAS. In broad brush terms you should be reasonably safe in the HEIII up to 400Kmh and in the Br20 up to around 370Kmh IAS. You will notice that manoeuvrability in the pitch axis is a little more laborious now ... they are medium bombers after all not Fighter Bombers.

Patch v4.0

Team fusion would like to thank you for your patience.

As you will notice, TF 4.0 is a big one. The team has spent numerous hours working on it and the Beta testers have done a great job offering their spare time to test over and over and finding many obvious and not so obvious bugs.
Still, with such a big size, surely some bugs have avoided detection. Since the team can't test forever and we all want the release out, the F5 time is now over...

Before you proceed with the install, you might find these threads useful:

----------------------------------------

Well, here it is. Team Fusion patch v4.3

After many more months than was expected, initially it was designated v4.01 as a 'hotfix', the patch steadily grew and now comes to you as v4.3

There are a huge amount of fixes and features added but rather than repost them all here, please visit this page where the v4.3 readme is listed:

http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9250

v4.3 is most likely the only update team Fusion will release until v5.0, which will then take us into another theatre of war.

I could post much more, but we realise that you'll most likely already have skipped past this and have the file downloading.

At the same time as releasing v4.3 we are starting a complete new Bugtracker with the help of community member "Artist" and we'd like you to consider adding bugs that you find using that system rather than a completely new bug thread. This will make it easier for us to visit the page (which we intend to do as a Team and regularly) and the intention is to tick off the bugs as they are fixed and corrected.

Please report bugs and/or request features at the new official Team Fusion Bugtracker:

http://tfbt.nuvturais.de/projects/il2clodtf

but please read the guidelines first before posting:

http://tfbt.nuvturais.de/projects/il2clodtf/boards/4

You may need to register to post a report, but please, once you have logged in, read the guidelines above before adding a new bug. We will be monitoring this now much more closely and although we can't promise to fix everything....if we know about it, there is now a chance it can be looked at ;)

For information on how to install this and previous patches please visit the following link and please be sure to follow the instructions...it always helps when you do that!

Please note you must have all the previous patches installed before installing v4.3

If you have already managed to get to v4.00 on your own, these are the instructions to install v4.3:

http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9352

This next link takes you to the FAQ with video tutorials on how to install all the previous patches including v3.00/3.01 and v4.00 along with many other previously reported features, like how to get it working with Windows 8/8.1 or why graphics anomalies are occurring, plus so much more:

http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...ead.php?t=6431

There is also the Beginner's Guide to help the novice pilot as-well as more seasoned flight-sim enthusiasts, after all, we're never too old to learn!

http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...t=5058&p=52711

Please remember, once you install the patch, go to your MyDocuments/1cSoftclub/ il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD, open it, find the folder called 'cache' and delete the entire contents. If you don't, you will see issues!

So, for now, here are the download links for v4.3 including multiple file hosts and a torrent link too. Enjoy the patch...we're going to enjoy the break!

Cheers, Team Fusion.

Launcher has stoped working!

my bad luck with this game proceds :D

Go to your Redis folder in program files/ Il2 clod and run through all the programs there - directx update/ net frame work / and any other. That should get you sorted.

Also make sure you give it time. The 1st launch will rebuild the game and take longer to get into. After that, it will be normal.

Hey Pupo,

Unless your sound is turned down, you may have a corrupt install of the game. Verify integrity and reinstall the patch.. Make sure you clear cache on the mod folder before running again.

First glance.

The good...
Aircraft skins big improvement! The aircraft reflections up close very nice, England at last looks like England, very very well done, cockpits great, clouds great, visually it looks much better ...have not tested flight models yet as not got stick set up tonight

The not so good...

Stuka siren would not turn off, the reflections from aircraft at distance are way over done with aircraft looking like they have lights blinking on and off all the time, most off putting...that all i could find that was not so good.

All in all a great effort, most impressed, a very very well done from me.

reflections on canopy and reflections in general look stunning. I don't share the opinion that they are overdone. Turning the weathering slider to the right tone the reflections down I guess.

I had the same problem at first. Problem is: There is no Mod folder at first. You have to start CloD after installing the mod and the Mod folder in "My Documents" creates itself. After launching the game, just exit and voila there is the Mod folder where you can copy your .ini files

Hope this helps!

When i say i dont like the reflections, this is what i mean...

The aircraft up close look great, its the far and mid distance reflections that seem over done, they seem to blink on and off all the time, which makes them look like flickering lights.

here is a few screen shots...

Again up close the aircraft look fantastic

Its the aircraft on the ground that blink on and off all the time at almost every angle.

The rest of the visuals are a big improvement and are very welcome.

Understand I only use the ini files from the cocuments/1cSoftclub folder. Question really is, do I copy those two files ONCE to the new folder that the patch creates, the new "MOD" folder and THEN copy those two files back to the CLoD standard Main folder, so in essence, Im copying those two files TWICE..OR just ONCE to the new mod folder, if that makes sense...sorrry for the confusion.

In the documents it gives me 4 files:

1. Conf
2. Confs
3. ConfUser
4. User

Just copy them to the Mod folder.. The folder that doesn't say mod is for the default steam version of the game, which I doubt many will be using anymore :)

No need to recopy them back.. You just need to move your configs over because the -Mod folder creates configs as if you had just downloaded/installed the sim from scratch. Hope that makes sense.

Big thanks to TF! - I look forward to being able to try this out. Perhaps next weekend: real life can be so annoyingly time-consuming sometimes... - Who knows, maybe the white blobs track-file problem has sorted itself out! - Otherwise I strongly suggest that ATAG removes the "locked-view" in the track files generated when online on the ATAG servers.

Hi Blitzen,

1.) When you run the patched sim it will create a new folder in your documents/1csoftclub folder named "IL2 Cliffs of Dover - Mod" You need to put your saved/copied .ini files in the new Mod folder. But again, this only shows/gets created after you run the sim 1 time. Just remember that when you enter the game after you have copied your config files that you will still need to go to controls and "load" your config file for your controls. Think of the new - Mod folder as a fresh version with no skins, missions, and default config settings. That's why anything you need from the vanilla version (missions, skins, configs) needs to be moved over from your original docs/1csoft/IL2 folder.

2.) I don't have a FFB so I can't tell you how that works in game. Is there a FFB config somewhere or is that tied to your controls? If there's a config, then it needs to be moved into the new IL2 - Mod folder as well.

And thanks for the kind words.. All these guys have been working their butts off on this. I think it's fantastic.

It's going to be a quick one this as my bladder is bursting, and it's Team Fusion's fault! I've sat playing the new mod for around 3 hours straight, and it's bloody fantastic! The climbing, the reflections, the clouds, the contrails...need I go on? Yes I do! The subtle horizon fogging, the muted colours, the gun sounds in the Hurricane, the Merlin idling sound, the new gun fire...

...more?

The really, really, REALLY BIG thing for me, personally, is the responsiveness of the game. I run an i7 2600K @ 5GHz, a 2Gb GTX 560Ti graphics card, and yet, when I panned left and right in the old version the game would stutter, as if loading something into something. Now. I can look anywhere I like and it's silky smooth - I.DID.NOT.HAVE.ONE.STUTTER all game! I upped the levels of detail - nothing could phase it. I turned on shadows. Not that. I don't know what the bit-boys did to the code, but I am one happy (No.501_) Bunny!

I can't thank you enough, but here goes. Thank You :) It really is appreciated.

Salute!

I just would like to take this oportuniy to thank every single member of Team Fusion for your untold hours of blood, sweat and tears in bringing this patch together.

Things in the WWII Combat flight sim genre were fairly grim after the demise of Madox Games, but Team Fusion's comitment to COD has been a bright light on an otherwise dark horizon.

I would also like to thank ATAG for their ongoing support of Cliffs of Dover and Team Fusion. You have created a fantastic and vibrant community.

I wish you all the best now and always!

Thankyou!

Understand Bliss..last question, I think..which of the four (see below) files do I copy over? All? or which ones specificially thansk.

In the documents it gives me 4 files:

1. Conf
2. Confs
3. ConfUser
4. User

If you made any changes to the file rcu copy that too.

e.g. in mine I have a couple of extra aliases for keyboard shortcuts to save all that typing:
@a f0 fps HIDE START
@a f1 fps START SHOW
@a dr mp_dotrange

The download took me about half an hour (I'm in Austria), which felt slow. But then maybe I was just impatient!

(Ditto to all the expressions of thanks! After just one flight, I love the modified colours of the English countryside, and the fact that the midday sun feels dialled down a bit. Much more like a UK summer day. Hats off for everything.)

Was fine for me Bliss. 9 or 10 minutes or so I think? It only seemed like a few minutes.... I was reading the readme details while the file downloaded.

I'm based in UK, and was downloading at the same time as the rush last night.

Downloaded fine, tested a bit more and apart from the flickering planes and stuka siren, this looks like a superb effort. Sim looks and sounds how it always should of done.

I would also like to know the answer to that question, I dont know if it has to do with settings but planes that are mid to long range look jagged as hell making it really difficult to identify them.I havent tried the patch though,I hope I can get it running tonight after I get home from work.At 1920x1200 so much jaggies are not normal unless the AA isnt working properly.Anyways I plan to upgrade to 1440p resolution which should improve the experience in that regard, but we know not everyone will be running the sim at that resolution, so please keep that in mind for future graphics improvements if possible.

hello,

I don`t know if this already posted, but I have problems with the patch and the campaigns of Desastersoft. Since I installed the patch I cannot start the campaigns any more. In the single player menu all other options are available but clicking on the Desastersoft campaigns has no effect.

In free flight over LeHavre with 109 and 110 I had several game crashes within 10 sec. after starting the flight.

Maybe the patch is not optimized for single players?

Went on line for the first time and was very impressed with being able to spot aircaft. Also the climb rate of the IIA is very impressive.

My only issue was after my first mission I changed some video settings and then had a launcher crash when I tried to spawn. I then exited and deleted my cache file and the problem went away. No big deal.

Looking forward to many more hours of fun on ATAG with the new patch!

Hi Blitzen,

No it's not, but the static markings should be fixed within the patch. Are yours not showing up?
ATAG Bliss:
No they aren't showing up on any of the aircraft so far as I have been able to tell.Swastikas do show up on some of the flights of AI aircraft but not all ( this was true before the patch as well.) Do you think I should re-install this utility..if so where should I direct it to install?
After playing (& enjoying ) the Mod patch for a while ,I have found two other glitches( let me hasten to add they may well be because of the way the sim is installed on my PC and therefore somewhat unique to me...not the fault of the mod patch..I just have no way of knowing.)
1.) All my pilot careers in Campaigns are gone. This was a problem even with "Official "patches - they would wipe out campaigns & pilots unless I was careful to save them(Campaign folders that is,) & patch them back in.This time I didn't & now am at a loss as to what to do or not do.This isn't a real biggee since flying them again with the new mods has its benifits!:D
2.)The 3rd party campaigns that typically are found between "Single Missions" and "Campaigns" on the menu screen now no longer work.Desastersoft campaigns that I paid to download are still on the list ,but clicking on them results in a momentarily frozen screen and I have to hit "Back" to get things going again. As you might imagine it hurts a bit to see these especially to be not working.Any ideas?
Which brings me to a small question -how are we to install bits and pieces in the future? The old way in either the 1Csoftclub folder &/or the Steam folder,or use our new "Mod Folder"? I also have a JSGME utility..could it be causing some problems -should I try to disable it & any of the mods I have attmped to install using it? I'm not sure any of them worked anyhow...:stunned:
Finally let me say again ( so you don't think I'm whining:) this is a terrific step forward. As mentioned in my first post I just loved the new screens - I was so sick of the originals...but now with a couple of hours of play under my belt I am really smiling ear to ear..You know what i really like?the canopy sun reflections- its such a little thing but a beautiful eye candy touch...Wonderful!
Must take a screen shot of this some day...I bet its tough to catch tho!:-)

My Desastersoft Camapigns are found in Steam/steamapps/common/il-2 sturmovik Cliffs of dover. Here i have two Desastersoft folders:Desastersoft ( which holds the two purchased campaigns) & Desastersoft_Co_Op. They aren't in a Missions folder- this is where they installed .You mention a Mission & Missions_Folder ...not sure which one you mean from1C SoftClub folder or the Mission folder over in Steam/steamapps etc.? Copy them into the newest Il-2 etc...Mod folder I assume? I have a slow brain could you take a moment & explain? Have you found a way to get your old careers back & working?

ATAG_Bliss
Mar-18-2013, 13:50
Yep - copy them over to the new docs/mod folder.

Think of it this way. Anything you want to play on the vanilla game stays in docs/IL2 and anything you want to play using the patch must be in docs/IL2mod.

It was done this way to be able to switch back and forth without the stored cache between 2 versions interfering with each other and causing problems. So you copy anything you want from the old to the new (besides cache)

Kodoss
Mar-18-2013, 13:54
For Desastersoft campaigns:

Go into your Documents-folder.
Search for 1CSoftclub/il2 - cliffs of dover/
There you copy the "mission"-folder
Go to 1CSoftclub/il2 - cliffs of dover - MOD/ and paste your mission-folder into it(overwrite the existing).

All other folders of desastersoft exists in your steam/steamapps/.../CLod/-folder and don't need to be moved.

Do the same for the PaintSchemes/Skins-folder if you have an own collection.

Hi Septic,

at 1st thx for your answer! Dickes Dankeschön!:)

I found out that all my mods were workin if I change to the old "maddox.dll"...

But to be honest, the only mod I am really missing with TF-Mod 3.0 is the swastika-mod, as it really adds to the immersion...
Untill now, I only used one swastika-mod, it is the one which is activated via the kegetys.dll...

You said I should try reinstalling the mod, but as its only dropped into the main-folder of CoD I dont know what you mean by reinstalling.

Maybe I should try another swastika-mod...(Is there any?)

Do you have any suggestions? or a DL-Link maybe, please...

And finally, Is there any way to get the other mods back in the TF-Mod 3.0/CoD-Installation, except via the "kegetys.dll"??

That would really make my day aka would be really awesome...

Thx in advance.

Yoi should know when you start the sim. It's very different looking from vanilla.

This is wrong and is not entirely accurate. BR-20M is not a heavy bomber and the average (as opposed to JU88) and should not have br-20, with an overload of more than 4 to fall off the wing. Must be corrected.
And so thank you very much for the patch. Was all very nice. Fortune.

I've had a limited amount of time to play with the patch installed.

In answer to the earlier question about download, I'm in the UK and downloaded it yesterday evening local time and had a download speed of around 1.3mb/s.

Visually I can see the great improvements made in the patch.

I'm wondering however, if there is something either not installed properly or a tweak I need to make with the sound. Others have commented about the improved spit/hurri engine and gun sounds but on my system the engine sounds like a tractor and the guns sound like the gatling gun on an A10. I'm not meaning that to be inflamatory, they are the closed sounds I can think of.

I checked the integrity and cleared the cache before the intial install and have repeated the process again running the install as administrator the second time. I've also increased the in-game sound volume incase I wasn't getting the full effect.

I'm sorry to not be listing lots of positives but I as I said above, I've not had the time to really appreciate all the improvements you guys have made and I'm sure I will be letting out lots of oos and ahhs as I get the opportunity to explore further. It is just that this sound issue hit me between the eyes (or should I say ears) as soon as I fired up the first quick mission.

Absolutely amazing work guys!

It looks, sounds and most importantly flies so much better! And suddenly I could shoot down two He 111:s in a pass at that quick mission with my Spitfire IIa... And did you actually see the gunners shoot back earlier?

Just imagine if CloD would have been like this on the release day... Then MG would still be alive...

Looking forward a lot to what you will be able to achieve in the future, and I sincerely hope that 1C/777 studios will let this hard work get into the release version and leave the original source code to you guys to develop like they did with the old IL2 code to team Daidalos :)

Good luck with future patches!

Thanks for the reply Buzzsaw. What files do I need to delete/reinstate to do that?

As I said in my previous note this was not meant to be a rant or a downer on the great work and effort that has been put in. It may be that the quality of my system isn't making the most of the new sound files.

Malc,

I've heard that if you don't have the ingame volume to 100% and adjust it in windows as desired, the sounds don't sound right.
You might want to try that.

If that doesn't work, you can copy the sound files from the "parts\bob\fsamples" to "parts\bob\fsamples\mod" to get the stock sounds.

I don't know what that person is talking about above. Just imagine what a 24 liter V12 is going to sound like. It sounds way more beasty than stock, surely right? Hopefully it's just something you need tweaking in your settings. Over here it's sounding real beasty.

And 8 guns firing at full tit? It is going to sound just as, if not more ferocious than a GAU8 gatling gun. The gun sounds are a totally awesome and much needed addition in my opinion. Thank you TF!

These vapour trails and aircraft reflections are amazing for immersion, I wouldn't have even thought the stock game needed it but far out, I am not going back!

I was surprised to find that the hurricane still rolls faster than the spitfire? Or is this intentional? Great to see the 109 stall tamed.

Out of interest, how would this be done? Manually copy which files back? Edit: just saw answer above thanks. Shame it appears dependent on settings. On my PC the .303s in the mod sounded like someone going brrrrrrrrrrrrrr with their lips! I havent had a chance to play with sound settings since reading this.

Can the same customisation of the mod back to some of the old settings be done (and how) for

- contrails
- reflections of cockpit glass
- factory fresh non weathered look
- new landscape colours

If a player does not like those? It would be ideal if they could keep all the flight model improvements but 'opt out' of some of the other changes if they dont like them (eg via config.ini).

Will going back to old sounds or disabling these new effects impact ability to play online with the mod?

Thx

This has been explained by Colander above.

Again, as in the mission files, but this time in your main IL-2 folder, not 1C Softclub, you go back to your original files, copy them and paste them into the 'Mod' file folders.

Copy the files from the "parts\bob\fsamples" to "parts\bob\fsamples\mod" to get the stock sounds.

Yes but what about the other new effects like contrails or the strobing cockpit glass. Can they also be turned off or wound back?

In most cases the effects included are not changeable.

We did extensive testing of these various mods, had quite spirited debates in our private forums before coming to consensus, and while some of the effects are not perfect, we felt they were the best for improving the overall game.

For example, we had lots of discussion of the reflection mod. Was it overdone? Was it realistic? Etc. etc.

We did a lot of research on this issue. The fact is, reflections off wings or cockpit glass were a huge part in historical pilot's abilities to spot their enemy.

Eliminating the effect would return the game to the situation we had before, ie. aircraft simply disappearing at close ranges when the dot LOD's turned into larger LOD's.

Some may not like the flashes, the game is not perfect in replicating real life, but glass reflecting light can be seen at astonishing ranges.

Here are some real life examples of

Another, (just a few seconds in from the start, upper right)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xoBaQa-3tfE

The game effects may not be to the liking of everyone, but in our opinions, they are the best compromise which can be implemented considering our present understanding of the CoD engine.

That is not to say we may not change the effect in the future if we find a better solution. This Mod is all about finding improvements.

But as these effects stand now, we feel we are at the best compromise.

This applies for all of the mods we implemented.

The sound is meant to emulate the reported "tearing of heavy fabric" that pilots heard when sat in-between 8 browning .303's firing simultaneously, rather than the sound of just two guns firing.

Also, the outside view Browning .303 sound emulates the one that was recently dug up and test fired after 70 years. There is a recording on Youtube somewhere. You will need a good sound system set up with appropriate bass and mid-high tones to hear the full range of the sound effect.

Hey LetChik, If you are having problems clipping your wings in hangers, make sure that you centre the aircraft right in the middle of the door. You dont have to be straight on to get out without damaging your plane. Just keep the nose centred. IIRC there is a slated window above the door right in the centre use it as a guide

+1 and a big well done for TF after 3h flying last night.

I think the reason CloD has suddenly jumped so much in this patch is having people work on the sim that not only have the technical ability to mod the sim, but the desire to fly as hardcore historical flightsimmers, along with the patience/resources to test the result for unintended consequences of change. It seems a shame that the original development had to cease before this could occur.

Taking off yesterday I noted the reflections were fairly obvious and a bit intrusive at first sight, but not worryingly so. Then I was in the typical fight where I had merged with advantage and I was looking at the patch of ocean where I knew he MUST be. He was effectively invisible at his LOD and normally I would have chandelled up to hopefully re-acquire him when he turned back into a dot. Instead I saw a little glint and could stay in combat. Fantastic! The reflections had overall increased the quality of simulation.

In the end we are are all flying in office chairs, with token or no flight surface feedback, looking at 2d flat panels that do not extend into our peripheral vision, and not experiencing g-load unless your loved one gets mad and tips you off the chair. A common sense approach that works out the best solution to build a "realistic" simulation into this limited situation is a good one.

Sorry....but...A dumb question:

What do these instructions mean?
1. Verify integrity
2. Clear cache

1. In the Steam GUI, go to the Library, then the game. Right-click > Properties > Local Files Tab > "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". It checks your game for corruptions and missing files, and will replace them as necessary.

2. In your Documents, go to the "1C Softclub" folder, then the "il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder. Within is a folder labeled "cache". Delete the contents, specifically of a folder labelled "shaders". You can dump the whole folder and it will be rebuilt after verification and game start (in my experience).

If you are worried that deleting an entire folder is bad news, just change the name on the "cache" folder to something else, and verify and restart the game. You'll see it is rebuilt, and if not, you still have the original folder.

Good description that I think the original post should be updated with!

People that have never used any beta patches for CloD will hopefully get here when the rumor spreads that the game is playable now! Most of us here can clear the Clod cache with a blindfold after the two years of agony, but now maybe new people that have passed on CloD will buy it!

First up, thanks so much for all the work. I never imagined this would really be possible- to develop the game this way. It's just fantastic. Thank you.

Second, I'm having a few issues with the patch installation instructions which I hope someone can help me with.

Points 1 and 2 (Verify integrity/clear cache) I understand. Then we come to the third point about saving your personal configuration files. I've looked about but I can't find any files that appear to incorporate ini. The only files I've found that look as though they contain my configuration settings are located in the 1cSoft Club folder. These are just marked 'config' etc and they appear to contain various settings that I've saved from time to time. Are these the files I'm supposed to save?

I also have a difficulty reconciling points 5 and 6. Point 5 seems to suggest that I place my saved configuration files (as mentioned above) into the new mod folder. That seems fine if that's what's supposed to happen. But then point 6 states that I'm to copy the ini (???) files over again to the main folder. Main folder?? What does this mean? Am I supposed to place these saved files in two separate locations? If I am, what /where is this main file?

Any help appreciated.

Hi Wulf,

Essentially you are taking your configuration files from the Documents/1cSoftClub/IL2 Cliffs of Dover folder and copying them over To the Documents/1cSoftClub/IL2 Cliffs of Dover - MOD folder.

Things like the conf.ini (your graphics settings) or confuser.ini (your control/joystick settings) can be copied over to avoid having to redo them. The reason I initially said to copy those files was as a safe guard to the patch somehow installing over them. With the amount of time it takes to bind your controls, it's a good idea to at least have that .ini file saved. Then you copy those files back into the main MOD folder in Docs/1c/il2 that the game has created after the 1st time it has been ran.

Sorry to sound confusing. If someone would post a separate detailed install thread with pictures etc., I would sticky it. I'm just so used to the sim, I completely forget about all the stuff I take for granted when trying to explain something to others.

The TF-patch uses the "IL2 - Cliffs of Dover - MOD"-folder only.
What he meant is that you copy your *.ini files from the original IL2 - Cliffs of Dover-folder to the new one with the MOD ending.

But if you have also some skins and additional campaigns (like from Desastersoft) you need to copy the paintschemes(skins) and mission(campaigns)-folder.

Same goes for music- and records-folder.

Is it needed to keep the old "conf.ini graphical tweaks" like meshlod=1 and etc., or better if we use the original one?

I would use the original one. It's really easy to cause game crashes and graphics bugs by using a setting such as water=5. And it's really easy to redo your graphics settings from scratch (while in game). Just my personal preference.

I'm wondering however, if there is something either not installed properly or a tweak I need to make with the sound. Others have commented about the improved spit/hurri engine and gun sounds but on my system the engine sounds like a tractor and the guns sound like the gatling gun on an A10. .

Guns in the patch sound to me almost exactly like... well... brownings...

Yes est.Poprobuyte on the BR-20 topmacht.Pri transfer to climb and turn on the next ship flies off the wing. Impossible at such a low speed to create more congestion 4.:(

I don't understand what you are getting at. ? Are you saying this limit should be higher or are you saying that the aeroplane flies so slow it cant generate the G ?

If you have this manual then can you post a link to it ?

Hi,

does anybody know how I get my swastikas back??? it seems none of my mods were "activated" via the kegetys.dll after TF-Mod installation:(

Am I missing something?? Everything else works like a charm but the mods dont get "activated"...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thx in advance

You should not be able to activate other mods with the TF patch. This was done deliberately to ensure onlime MP integrity.

The stock game had little/no security for online MP players, basically anyone could go online with any mod activatated & there was no security checks. This leads to people (rightly or wrongly) claiming others are 'cheating' or otherwise gaining an unfair advantage using modified files in their gameplay. Now you can rest asured that everyone in the online MP environment is playing on a 'level playing field'.

Except he can use this optional mod for the TF release without worry. It turns the historical tail markings on for the German aircraft.

Stuck at work and only able to read patch notes...can anyone elaborate on "-All FM's extensively reworked." and what this includes? Hoping for a semi-detailed-ish kind of description. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty curious about the RAF fighters and how they're performing now.

Ok Now I understand, you are saying it should be +6G -3. Ok if that is documented we can fix that in the second patch.

Just put up a jpg image of the page from the manual that clearly states this limit. If the the limt is +6 -3 its not a problem but we need the documentation.

In the meantime I will try and download the manual.

Spasiba.

Now pilot technique wise just ease on the g rather than a last minute snatch pull :)

I'd like to add something, now that I've put in a few hours on Team Fusion's patch on both the ATAG and the ACG dog fight server.

At first I admit I did find the sound of the Hurricane at high RPM a bit obvious with the piston firing, each beat sharper than expected, and yes, a few of us did joke about lawn mowers. Not the cheap and nasty lawn mowers of course, but something like a Suffolk Punch, something that would leave lovely stripes in your croquet lawn.

However, I am never one to assume I know better (unless I do actually know that I know better in a given situation, which has happened on occasion, to mine and everyone else's surprise). I do realise that whilst I have watched a multitude of Merlin-equipped fighter planes pass overhead at air shows, and whilst sitting in the garden with a welcome cup of tea, I have never actually sat in the cockpit of a Hurricane, Spitfire, P-51 or any other aeroplane equipped with a Merlin engine, whilst flying.

So my curiosty was picqued. It led me to this video on YouTube of a P-51 Mustang where a rather lucky chap recorded his back-seat flight in said aeroplane.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-ORMBVgbjg

Yes, you can indeed hear the 'punch' of each cylinder - very clearly. I am sure a bystander outside of the cockpit will hear an entirely different noise, once all manner of audible vibrations from engine panels, doppler effects and other factors known only to boffins are taken into account. And yes, I imagine much depends on the camera used. But to me, our new cockpit sound is closer to this than before. I also beg everyone, absolutely EVERYONE, to climb in a formation of at least 8 aircraft, to around 23,000 feet, level off, and then open that bloody cockpit. If your heart does not weep with joy at the sound then you are made of stone.

And on to the gunfire sound. I had no doubts that this sounded more 'real' than before. The new sound gives the impression of many bullets being fired at once, and it helps me, in-game, to self-limit the time on the trigger as I now have audible feedback of the rate of fire. Before I only had my tracers to rely on and the slower audible rate of fire to provide a rate of fire feedback, which often meant holding the trigger down longer than needed.

But again, looking into the rate of fire for 8 .303" Brownings led me to this website stating that the sound you are hearing is 160 rps! That is fast. That would sound like someone blowing a fairly insistent raspberry.

http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/BoB.htm

In short, I assume the chap who worked on the sound has done far, far more research than any of us has done, and if he or she says that this is what a 160rps raspberry sounds like, then I shall believe them, even more so as it fits in with the very basic figures I know.

To summarise; I like the sounds I hear. No, actually, I LOVE the sounds I hear. Thank you sound person/people for putting in sounds that you believe to be as accurate as possible with the given resources and time available, so that we may all enjoy the game that much more. I won't quibble, I really have no right to quibble. I haven't paid for your time, but if/when I do meet any modders I shall buy beer.

Great work!
Just a question for german planes: shift-F1 to turn on the gunsight does'nt work anymore? I can't align the sight to the aim, just move head the view.
