View Full Version : Ships "Fly" into position as approached

At first, I thought they were birds, but the pixels moving from left to right are ships coming into view when flying south just east of Isle of Wight. It's a minor graphics anomaly but I felt that it should be reported somewhere.

Hi Fidget old bean,

This has always been apparent, due to the multi-player environment. It's your client catching up with the server position of the ships.

Septic.

I only seem to see it on the Tangemere spawn / Isle of Wight map. Doesn't occur in my Sea Lion or other maps. Others, anyone?

CORRECTION: I saw one ship fly into position yeterday on the Sea Lion mission.

I seem to get it everytime everywhere. Ships slide into position one by one from nowhere as I approach them. I didn't think it was a server/client error. my ping is usually around 150. But yes I get it all the time.

I think it works something like if you approach the ships from out of the vis range (somewhere around 4-5km) then this effect happens.
It doesn't if you are closer to them.

More irritating for me is that there are definite pauses/stutters when they fly into position.

Always been curious as to how 'efficiently' the models were done for them.
There were some innocuous objects in DCS that caused some problems, like you could have like 100 tanks on a battlefield no problem, just don't fly past a little sailboat :)

All the time and 'stutters' as they slide.

Hi All,

thank you for reminding about this anomaly (bug)! You know, to faciliate and organize bug reports (so they don't get lost in time) we have established a bugtracker here at http://tfbt.nuvturais.de. May I kindly ask you to create an issue with this? And, if you haven't done so already, please do read the guidelines here first: http://tfbt.nuvturais.de/projects/il2clodtf/boards/4.

And please include a link back to this thread in the description, so that people can find the discussion here.

Thank you very much,

This forum is, or at least should be our portal for constructive criticism. So, may I suggest a sticky topic for your "Bugtracker" at the top of our list here. Thank you.

I am awfully sorry to have offended you in our efforts to get bugs and feature requests organized in a way useful for both the developers of Team Fusion and the community. You see, you do not have to participate.

Cheers,

PS: In case you change you mind :- ): The registration link for the bugtracker is on the top right corner of the login screen (please have cookies enabled). This forum here is ATAG's forum, not Team Fusion's. We're just guests here (and grateful to ATAG for this!). This is why we can collect hard data in the bugtracker and have the accompanying discussions here. A sticky explaining all this is at the top of this board: Sticky: Bug Reporting: Please read this first (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9641). A.

Will do it when I get home from work.

Thanks for your tireless work

The TF bugtracker report for the flying/warping ships can be found here (http://tfbt.nuvturais.de/issues/568).

I was very short on words when I created the report. So good that you guys provide more information! The link to this thread is already added.

Awesome, rather than duplicate I will add some clips to this post then seeing as though there is already a bug thingy listed.
Just need the channel maps to come up on the server again.

This bug is as old as the hills, more irritating than anything else.
