View Full Version : We have the "Boris'sight"!
"Boris'ight" - sight used by Boris, the navigator multitask (is too rear gunner, bombardier) to drop bombs.

BTW - And now Boris receive a packet of biscuits, they dont look hungry at you all the time anymore. :)

Boris'ight functional with today update.
I try bombing a train from 3.500 meters... :D

In general similar to il-2'46, active autopilot level, is possible make small adjusts left/right, but if press and hold the sight destabilizes.
Input altitude, speed in IAS... I dont look if wind correction are working..
Only make adjust with mouse find a bit more awkward... need practice.

Interesting. Do you have a picture of what the bombsight actually looked like in real life?
I loved CloD's bombsights so much... I find this sight with this kind of "hud" pretty underwhelming.
Find these drawings/pics of OPB-1:

The OPB-1 (EDIT- reticle and operation) - is nice modeled in il-2:'46. What the TD are working for TD 4.13 will be the best bombsight implementation see on sim's.
CloD Blenheim Wimperis is the best visually modeled one - due the 3D, but the simplify on operation and lack or 6DOF on bombardier cockpit dont help...
Is difficult to use for the "average '46 Joe Bomber", due deficiencies on frontal vision - I know some that give up... and dont please the "grognards" 100%...
In Bo$/RoF are a simple generic sight - although note easy to use...
Input IAS - so no force players deal with external programs - is a good compromise with the proposal of "easy/accessible" game.
And the train still with luck:

It's just sad that the bombsight is not modelled... Really, really disappointed.

Cool - glad to see some level bombing now.
"Input IAS - so no force players deal with external programs - is a good compromise with the proposal of "easy/accessible" game."
Yes, I actually agree to this - ROF did a fairly good job with this as well.
I'd be surprised if wind wasn't present, since it worked in ROF.
Well, if they calibrate the "Boris'ight" in TAS and make the panel thermometer functional...
