This http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/huey/ is probably as real as it gets; more so than Cliffs of Dover.

Hello , my good friend and Kameraden in 9./JG52 (The Karaya Staffel) Ziegler was, as a fresh faced youth a Huey pilot in Vietnam.( Yes he really is that old ! ) He has this DCS version of the Huey that others speak of. I shall boot him up the arse and get him to give his evaluation in regards to it. I beleive he flew the dust off version ( Medical pick up) but he can give the details on that side of things if he so wishes.

I have both Take On Helicopters and the UH-1H module for DCS. DCS Huey wins hands down. The flight model is so much more complex and challenging. Take On still feels abit arcadey (slighty better than Arma). Both loads of fun, but if i had to pick one, it would be DCS.

DCS for sure, or check FSX addons from Milviz. They make nice stuff.

I guess i should add a vote for my first simulator love - http://www.x-plane.com/desktop/home/

Get the demo and try it. Some of the recent payware offerings get favourable reviews.

Te kanis my friend.

I have been away for a few days and my Squadron Mate and fellow Vet 9./JG52 Meyer told me about the thread. I would have to cast my vote for DCS Huey (suprize!) as they are what I flew D's and H models mostly and I have a fondness for the old turkey leg. While no sim can replicate the "feel" that one depends on when flying rotorwings the flight model/characteristics are and do feel fairly accurate. Having a good collective set up is key. You have to stay far ahead of the inputs curve. Have fun.

The Mi-8 is fun but it's a big heavy thing and for me the Huey is a lot more enjoyable to fly around. The Huey is more old school too with no flight stability assists like in the Mi-8 and Ka-50 which makes for more interesting flying

Indeed Foul Ole Ron, Exactly why I choose to fly this module rather than the others. I have the Shark which is pretty awesome, but the Huey is pure unadulterated 'fling wing' flying, no fancy electronics, and arguably the best there is out there available to the public, and what better model for this purpose could there possibly be than the iconic Huey.

Just flying it around every now and then puts a big smile on my dial.
