Following on from the first of these sample missions (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10795), here's another I did in a bit of a rush as a stress test - to see how frame rates might suffer in a low level combat over Central London (my squadron's BoB campaign is approaching the Blitz, basically, so we have to know what our guys' computers can take). Sooooo, if you like 5 fps, then it looks great. The 5 fps is only for a few moments (the initial merge, primarily) but I'll include a high-level version (exactly the same, except all the enemies had their waypoints tweaked - in the text editor, took a couple of minutes, literally - to put them at 10,000 ft) which is kinder to frame rates, at least initially. The price is that you have to climb first: a scenic tour over Barnes, Hammersmith and Shephard's Bush, before turning westward towards Westminster and the Isle of Dogs should do it.

There's nothing new in the .cs file. It's recycled from before. But there might be a couple of things to interest people...

Points of interest:

1) Being lazy, the main mission file is almost exactly the same as the previous one. Spawning points on the same airfields, same ground objects, etc. I did have to change the trigger location. Instead of Maidstone, the trigger (which spawns in the enemy) is now over Bermondsey (just south of the Isle of Dogs - the raid spawns east of the Isle of Dogs, flying westwards towards Westminester). [For the high level mission, I enlarged the trigger area and moved it a bit, because you can come at the Isle of Dogs from several angles. But for the lazy mission builder, this kind of "modularity" is worth bearing in mind...

2) I couldn't be bothered to have the escort spawn in separately, so they're now part of the bomber mission.

3) The bombers are going for the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. These are "Buildings" baked into the map. As such they are undamageable. However... you can put lots of, say, fuel trucks on the map inside the buildlings (a common IL2 '46 ruse) and then add a trigger, so that if a certain percentage of them (I chose 5%, I think) are destroyed), it'll spawn in another "mission" - another smoke mission actually, which will generate smoke billowing from these world-famous monuments (RANT: Where, oh Luthier, is St Paul's?????). It works, and since the latest TF magic, the smoke looks just great.

4) I think I left the return to Croydon trigger which spawned in the second raid from the previous example. But only because it showed how easy it is to add triggers and "Here's one I did earlier!" missions. This will, naturally, only work if you've got that particular submission, which was part of the previous example (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10795).

Anyway, as I said, there's nothing much new in the .cs file, but it's quite a fun mission if it doesn't turn your graphics card to a smouldering lump of molten silicon! The high level Heinkils are a Beetch.

Both missions can be downloaded here (https://app.box.com/s/kdicuf6olzllmkzpuji3), in one handy zip file. As with the previous effort, unzip the file to your mydocs/1c SoftClub/Il2 Cliffs...mod/missions/Multi/Dogfight folder. The main missions will be there, in the dogfight folder, while the submissions will be tucked away in the "all-submissions" folder.

Thanks for your efforts here, for now i'll have to try them in SP mode till i'm sorted for a smooth ride online

I have to wonder what the reaction would be if those important landmarks were rendered to be destructible, and included St Paul's Cathedral, don't you ? :recon:

I wonder if the original vision in the game was to give the permanent "buildings" on the map a DM and some destructibility. I remember seeing screenshots of rubble-filled half-demolished buildings in developer updates, back in the mists of time. For me, damageable houses are a fairly distant second to meaningful trees in the map, but even so... TF 6.0 perhaps.

(I didn't do an SP version of these missions. But it would be easy to do so - copy the main mission (and briefing and script files) into the Singles folder and then edit it in the FMB to swap out spawning points and airdromes for flights of friendly AI. If they're routed more or less straight for the Isle of Dogs (low level) or over west London before turning eastward at 10,000, they'd do fine.
