A bit of further information, indeed we would like to support our current 3 staffels of Me109's with an Me110 staffel. Presently we use AI for the 110 roles in our historical campaigns but we would prefer to have human pilots.

Campaigns are on Sunday's @1900 UK time for about 2 hours, they follow historical actions of the BOB and on average we have around 30 human fighters on each side + 40 AI bombers. Squadronless pilots who are interested in joining us, allied or axis, English or German speaking, are welcome to try ACG for a ride and see what it's all about. I'm afraid that Spitfires are a bit off the menu, everyone wants the Spitfire and since we strive to maintain historical balance we are careful in SPitfire recruitment. Hurricanes and particularly Me109's and ESPECIALLY Me110 pilots are most welcome. Standards are irrelevant to us, ACG is about being a good egg.

The link above won't work for non-ACG people but just come into the forums and say hello if you are interested and would like to know more. Info in my signature.

Rrrrrg! Bf 109 and 110, not Me.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109, sometimes incorrectly called the Me 109 (most often by Allied pilots and aircrew), was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt . . .

Sorry. I have aircraft designation OCD.

If you have OCD on this flare then do some research. You'd only have to read wiki on this one though

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt#Reestablishment

And here are a bunch of manuals from Messerschmidt with Me referenced on them.

I sure hope you don't call Dungeness "English point" ;)

Interesting!

According to the Wiki,
The renaming of BFW resulted in the company's RLM designation prefix changing from "Bf" to "Me" for all newer designs that were accepted by the RLM after the acquisition date. Existing types, such as the Bf 109 and 110, retained their earlier designation in official documents, although sometimes the newer designations were used as well, most often by subcontractors, such as Erla Maschinenwerk of Leipzig.

The 109 and 110's official designation was Bf. and those manuals most likely came from the Erla werke, which I don't think produced the 109Es and 110Cs use in the BoB (but I could be wrong about this).

Uh . . . I don't call it English point . . . :devilish: :D

To be completely honest I'd rather fly a 110 as part of one of the ACG campaign missions than go lone-wolfing in a 109 all evening on ATAG.

How sad. Lone-wolfing in a 109 is infinitely safer than flying a 110 in any circumstance.

BF-110 is the only fighter I fly, but I never do it alone. Are you two or more you will always get the chance to have opponents in front of a unbeatable collections of cannons and mg´s , alone you will always find them at your six. In a 110 you have no way to get out of a fight, in a BF 109 that is what you do. Once choosing to go for a kill you are all in.
I find a kill in a BF-110 more valuable than done from any other plane, (with the exception of the Blennie of course. Kills with the Blennie count more)
But discussing what ever please every player most is not something to agree upon.

Infinitely more boring, too. Speaking from experience. And not exactly the historically authentic experience I'm looking for when I play flight sims, either.

MalArky
Sep-27-2014, 19:24
Frankly, I'm not sure if I prefer the 109 or the 110 more. Managing the engines on a 110 seems a bit more complicated, in any case. Though that's probably part of the fun.

As for lone-wolfing it at high altitudes, I suppose it's a matter of preference. Though it probably is more fun to be flying as part of a squad, up there, as opposed to just being by yourself.

I enjoy the challenge of flying the 110 aggressively balancing risk v reward with intruder type missions my favourite. Not historical re bob but kinda historical re the long range intruder missions flown by the -88Cs at night at this stage of the war over England (recommend reading Intruders over Britain by Simon Parry if interested in this interesting but not well known part of the 1940 air war over England).

Re suicidal. Depends on how u fly the aircraft in my opinion. Noting the stats aren't 100% accurate in August I flew 81 missions for 42 'kills' and 13 deaths all in the 110 and the majority lone wolfing. Most kills were Blennies but I did 'kill' a few fighters along the way. Had 36 air abandons (and 28 landings) so I was shot down quite a few times but overall I don't think this is suicidal. Haven't tallied September yet and I don't think I did as well as I was trying a few things. I've posted a few videos that hopefully show the 110 isn't suicidal even in 1v1with spits.

Unfortunately 1900 Sundays in the uk doesn't work for me down here otherwise I might have been interested to give it a go. Hope u find some interested 110 pilots to participate though.

I lone wolf with the 110 all the time and keep about a 1:1 Kill per sortie ratio with it. Even if I get a Spit on my six I almost guarantee that I will be the last plane he shoots at before he heads home or ditches his aircraft.

Just yesterday I attacked a flight of 3 spits alone with a 110 and I managed to bounce one and cut off his tail, and I shot up the other two with my rear gun as they chased me home. #1 went into the channel without a tail, #2 bailed and lost the plane in the channel, and #3 made it home full of holes. I did have to bail out with two engines cooked, but 2.5 spits for one 110 is a pretty good trade.

So far in September I've lost 3 gunners and 1 pilot, the pilot loss was due to pilot error and not enemy bullets; basically a g-locked splash into the channel. Since most of the missions only run 3 hours it usually ends with me still in the air given how much fuel the 110 carries.

Osprey
Sep-28-2014, 04:50
Agree completely. The 110 is very fast and has nose cannons.

I just don't get the mentality of taking the safest aircraft alone in a server loaded with beginners with the intention of scoring high. What a dull experience, is it somehow meant to make one feel like some sort of superpilot? Don't delude yourself. In fact, why bother with tags...

Anyway it's a sidetrack/highjack. Bottom line is if you fancy group historic flight in actual missions then look us up. ACG are forming up 6./JG76, we don't mess about, it will be full sized and active.

@flare, go update wiki if it's wrong. I'm RAF, I call them huns and they fly me109's. That's what everyone in 1940 RAF said.

ATAG server may be full of beginners, but that's because it's the only server people play on; it's also full of great pilots too.

I was just going to say it's full of the best pilots in the game. You should see the chat logs from Osprey when he gets shot down by them :D

Edit: Just looked now. It appears there's maybe 10 new pilots playing and over 70 veterans and their squads. It seems odd to try and recruit new players but say you can't stand flying in a server with them. Yikes!

As much as I do not want to say it but my feeling is that the server/game gets instable as soon as there are more than 90 players online.

Target Reached=The personal targets that I pose myself at the beginning of the month
Advantage = More air kills than deaths suffered
Disadvantage= More deaths suffered than air kills inflicted
Mission= I count a mission from when I start playing until I stop playing
Real air kills= The air kills reported on the online stats minus the aircraft destroyed on the ground
Survival rate= The number indicates the percentuage

ME and Wolf have flown together in several Campaigns in SOW server in 110`s by far the sexiest plane in this game. Yes I am tempted to apply for duty in your squad. But I am currently in one, only 3 of us is active now and then. I have to see how dedicated I can be in near future. I will be in touch if I am sure I got the time. Say hello to Wolf from Jaeger
