Can't help you ingame atm. Working a bit now. But.

As long as you know what way the channel is you will now what's north and south. And by that also east and west.

The bearings is http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/geology/leveson/core/graphics/mapgraphics/circ-360newsx.gif
No matter what way you turn, 180 will always be south and north 360/0

Also remember where the sun is it will help you get your bearings quick if you need to haul ass with a trigger happy guy behind you.

Who would prefer to have to handle with a course setter and a directional gyro? :)

Really enjoyed the video. As I have started to fly some of the British planes lately I am still learning the cockpit. I see what I was doing for setting up headings is much like described in you video. Things get a little messy when you start adding flying at higher altitudes where ground details become more obscure and harder to identify, as well as over areas that have those masses of rivers, where identifying where you are over the tangle is much harder. That along with my nav oriented complaint with this sim, the poor rendering of river groups at a distance. Those swamps in France, plus the famous rectangular river/lake in France are my favorites. Anyways, it is only a sim, can't expect it to be like real life.

Question. In you video, when you bring up your map, the size of the map displayed in the vid is larger than my in-game map size. Is this some result of making the vid or have you adjusted the size of the map in-game? If so, what are the steps in doing this as it seems that the details were easier to see.

Thanks

Hi Weiss,

You can just grab the corners of the map with your mouse like you would a text document etc that's on your desktop. Then you should be able to expand it as big or small as you like.

@ Fransisco.

Aerial navigation is a skill and a science.
Like playing a keyboard.

The videos are great, but practice and reading help lots.

Personally I prefer physical maps, protractors stopwatches etc.
But then maybe this hobby is getting out of hand:

You can get all of this kit from this thread:

And if you're an Aussie, Bob Tait's aviation theory books are kinda the standard: Bob Tait: Commercial Pilot License Navigation Study guide (http://www.flightstore.com.au/books-theory-bob-taits-aviation-theory-c-104_105/navigation-bob-tait-p-95.html)
