Ok so I recently got into this after it sat on my HDD for a while. It's pretty great! A worthy spiritual successor of the Close Combat Series and definitely worth checking out. Battles are 50% planning and 50% action. There is very little micromanagement, soldiers do their own thing and complete goals you set to them in their own fashion. Think Footbal manager rather then FIFA if that means anything to you.

The atmosphere in this game is amazing as well. never seen a game recreate the vastness of the russian steppe and countryside so well. Downside is a bad voicepack - especially for the germans, probably best to turn voices down or off.

As for the actual game it's not that hard to get into; but lack of a good youtube tutuorial and non-standard UI make it look more difficult than it is.

Germans are Red, Soviets are Blue (that's right), UI is not great at all and will leave you confused at first, but it's absolutely worth staying with it.

I'd give it 8/10. If you're into proper strategy games then it would be a 9/10.

Achtung Panzer / Graviteam Tactics is now on sale including all of its DLC's if anybody wants to pick it up its £5.74 right now for the base game. It's a love or hate it affair I cannot lie, but for lovers of close combat and similar games, this is a must, even if you'll tear your hair out the first few days because of the UI. :)
