Hi all,
quick question as a newbie..

I've read a few threads on Ground control clearance for Landing and Taking off.. i.e. it doesn't work unless AI is turned on - is that correct?..
Post mission I can never get clearance to land even though I believe I have correctly joined the correct left hand circuit for landing.

There are a couple of threads where it mentions this doesn't work unless you have AI turned on.. however I've mapped a key and tried a joystick button to the toggle AI.. but it just seems to turn it on and immediately turn it off..

Does clearances work at all or should I just ignore that area?
Thanks

Hi Mutley and welcome to the forum! :salute:

I hope you don't mind me moving your thread to the Single Players Lounge. I saw you were getting no responses up in the ATAG Flight School section, probably because that area is geared towards multiplayer training (although there is nothing to indicate that to a newcomer).

Hopefully our vast and knowledgeable cadre of single players will see your query here and provide you the information you need.

In the meantime.....grab a cheap headset with mic, install Teamspeak 3, and join us on The Dark Side online in the ATAG Server! :devilish:

Cheers!

Thanks
believe I've found the solution.. basically the request clearance and landing doesn't working manually.. seems I have to switch AI on - then clearance is given and I switch it off and take off or land from there..

Switching auto pilot on briefly is the simplest solution.

If you are the lead plane of a group it is sometimes/often better to leave it on until after takeoff- when flaps come up is a good point (you will often see a little 'kick' in the plane as it leaves 'takeoff mode' )- then the other planes will follow you and respond to radio commands (as well as CoD's AI allows).

There is another way to do this (1lokos may want to comment on this).

The reason you don't get takeoff/landing messages is apparently due to the message file size (too small:stunned:) which means it is not played bey the game engine (again 1lokos may have more to add).

Landing - autopilot briefly should work if you are within the airfields radius of 'influence'.

One thing to remember is that in CoD planes land in 'reverse order- the last plane in group lands fist and the leader lands last

For these broke messages files you can copy similar one from il-2 1946 - rename with CloD actual name - or even record you own.

To make you "suffer" a little more, :devilish: this is the list of CloD radio messages that should work on release - if not "broken" and later cut down.

If work, you should by able to define - be typing - the new frequency for radio comm, distance for gunners open fire, new altitude for AI flight, type of attack for AI... :(

How would I set up the comms? Is it possible to request vector to home or nearest base?

Hi Sokol1,

I am CLOD beginner and need some help.
You write :"If work, you should by able to define - be typing - ..."
My beginner question: where I should type the commands? in a settings file? in the console when I am flying? Please explain.

Another question: In Options/Controls there are "COMM" commands. Can I use these for communication with AI? How does it work to define a command?

My experience with the Problem wingman does not join Formation after start (Situation I am leader, 1 wingman should join formation):
-You can begin take off directly without autopilot and waiting for messages.
-When airborne you can fly straght forward ca. 10 seconds without autopilot.
-Switch on Autopilot
-After plane starts to roll left or right you can switch off autopilot and wingman will join formation.

Best regards
Kraut1

(Maybe I will not react immedeately to your answer, I am occupied with some other problems at the Moment)
