All, one of our chaps is a professional 3D modeller and some time ago embarked on a project to build the Royal Navy K-Class (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J,_K_and_N-class_destroyer) destroyer, HMS Kelly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Kelly_%28F01%29), for import into Cliffs of Dover by Team Fusion. Unfortunately (for us) he got rather busy with work and was unable to continue the project which has been on idle for about a year. I have persuaded him to release this project to a new owner who is capable of continuing the project.

So the model is in good shape, but it has no animation or textures, nor any damage (if that is required). It does include imaged references, it was designed in 3DS but has been exported to LightWave format which Blender can import. If any other format is required please ask and I will get that arranged.

If there are any TF members who would like to take this on then please post here and I will send you a download link for the project. Hopefully we will see this in game one day, it would be a shame to waste it.

Hello Osprey

Thanks for your post.

It is always best for those who want to contribute something to CoD to contact Team Fusion prior to doing the work.

The reason is the process is made much simpler for us if the systems and methods used are to the standards required for the game.

We appreciate the offer of this destroyer, however, because of the methods, we cannot guarantee we will be able to use it.

I will PM you with more details.

Thanks :salute:

We are unable to use this model for the following reasons:

1) The K Class was very similar to the Tribal Class which we already have.

2) For use to modify this model would be more work than to start with our existing Tribal class.

3) The 3D model is only the first step in the process of creating an object in CoD... there are many other stages.

Again, I would urge those who are thinking of creating a project for CoD: Contact us first.

This will save much wasted time and effort.

Thanks :salute:

Looks familiar...was the HMS Torrin one of these by chance...:salute:

(Both lost off Crete ...well technically the Torrin last lost off Sheperrton Studios in London...)

After some more examination, we may be able to use this model...

But we would still ask people who are thinking of starting anything to check with us first. :salute:

Please send to me in 3ds form and maybe blender also. I have 3ds 2015 and 3ds max 8 and blender. I would rather have things given to me in 3ds max 8 format. Also need the skin. I hope there is a basic template skin.

I can have animated turrets and everything else in a bata MOD within 5 days. But I need someone to do the skining.

I am working on a lot of other things but can fit this in.

I'm glad you were able to take a second look at it.. Even though its still in its early stages and still a lot left to do.. Someone has still put a lot of time on her. Would have been a shame to let her sink like that. Thanks Wolf for taking her under your wing, and giving her life in this wonderful game of ours! S! As far as I'm concerned.. we can never have enough models in this game and this would have been a shame to not be included somehow. :)

Ship is far from being finished as it stands, there are a lot of historical elements missing.

It is also not a priority for us... Why? Because we already have a Royal Navy Destroyer of similar capability.

Our priority is to bring new classes of objects into the game, not make multiple types of the same class.

If this was a Royal Navy Minesweeper or a Cruiser class, it would be of much more interest.

So we will see what we can do to bring this into the game, but as it stands, it is not ready and there is a lot of work required.

I understand that with the limited resources TF has that you are trying to stay focused on the TF vision and plan, I just think it was a great gesture on behalf of Osprey and the original creator to offer up his/her work in hopes it could be of some help or someone could complete it down the road. I am just getting my feet wet in 3d modeling, and wished i could produce something like that right now. As far as not being historically correct and might require a lot of work to bring it up to par, that is above my pay grade, and i will take your word for it. :)
