IL 2 sturmoviks was used as fighter cover for other sturmoviks, some where aces.

Nice Video, yes.
But the reason for it, as i understand it, was to show that the il2 is not recognized as a target from the ai gunners.

Yes I noticed, but that means the AI coding are more complex than I thought. All others just follow enemy or friend. You can order the gunners to shoot at will or attacking aircraft. might be a coding thing

I up this video just to show the "unconventional" Taran. The "idea" was try hit the rudder or wing with wheels, by luck hit both propellers. :D

I only know what happens watching the track, because during the landing notice something wrong with right landing gear. I was in "cockpit only" mode.
I add the (He 111) gunner bug because he explain how was possible fly close the bomber like I did, since under ~200 meters range the gunners are deadly.
Above they are "absent-minded" (http://postimg.org/image/q9xg2egel/full/). :D

BTW - Gunners in WWII sim's is a complicated matter, the BoS AI gunner in your plane is a little more than a "passenger" (like in others il-2).
The most efficient is the Skuka one, manage to damage fighters 2 or 3 times (in ~10 try), and this because I set the attacking fighters without ammo. :D
And was leaving the plane the more stable possible, if engage the level autopilot the AI fighters collide with your plane. Test this is a bit fun. :D

And, as usual, people attacking AI bombers by "dead 6" are complaining that gunners are "sniper's". :devilish:

What's the bug - that they don't attack the IL2? Or is it something a bit more generic than that? I've seen somewhere that you have to wake the gunner up by a command (seems a bit silly to me).

The Pe2 gunners are also very good. Attacks from a high quarter at high speed usually end up with a shot up engine. I think part of the problem is like the ARMA AI problem at high settings - if you are anywhere within the AI's sight bubble then they see you regardless of where you are. Many times I was head-shot when peering though grass. From dead 6 you get what you deserve!

For whatever reason gunners in AI He 111 don't shoot at player in IL-2 Sturmovik in QM.
If refly the same QM and replace IL-2 for Pe-2 or any fighter, they shoot.

In the "comic" video Stuka Gunner won't shoot at LaGG-3 because the front cockpit was open, this prevent the MG to move for firing position (at least for player),
despite the external animation showing the gunner tracking targets.

These LaGG-3 don't shoot because... don't have ammo. :devilish:

Well nothing wrong with He 111 gunners... The problem is with il-2 Sturmovik, they are "stealth" - Stuka and Pe-2 gunners too don't shoot at him.
