Hi all folks!

We at Alas de Acero are planning a visit to Duxford flying legends airshow next July. Right now, we are about 7 guys and come from Spain.

We have searched the flights info to arrive to London, and now are looking for some "airfield to land" for the little rest that we can have those days.:)

We don't have very much info about affordable hotels, B&B, or Campings in the zone, so I thought to ask here (I know some of you are from there, or have experience in those Duxford events) to know some specific options for the hosting near Duxford, communications and transports.

Any info and help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Pato

I remember seeing this post long ago, but, like you, i live in Peninsula Iberica, just on your left on the map. The guys that can eventually help live in the "Island", like MysticPuma or the Lewis. Hopefully they will see your post this time. Good luck and "cheerio".

Sorry I missed your post Pato....

We have a small group (5 or 6) that camp in Cambridge every year...its the cheapest way to go to the 'Duxford Flying Legends' airshow and you can usually book 3 or 4 weeks in advance without any problem...The campsite has never been fully booked when we go...Cambridge can be an expensive plave to visit if you go to hotels in the town but there are budget hotels such as 'Holiday Inn' , 'Premier Inn' or 'Travel lodge'...I would certainly suggest staying an extra day and going to Cambridge as its a very pretty and small city...We tend to only go out in Cambridge in the evenings when it is dark...

All the details to the Camp site and our stay is in the link that Dave has posted above...

Its a very worth while event..I think maybe the best in the world...We have been many years and the weather has always been good upto now...

There is a free bus to and from Duxford for airshow goers which is a short ride from the campsite so once you get to the campsite I am sure one of us can give you fellas a lift as its just a couple minutes there...

If you want to camp with us then let me know because I have extra tents and camping gear...Our main tent is massive....I am sure we can fit you guys in..

Keep in touch about your trip..and I hope you join us...We always have a great time...~S~

Wow Lewis!!

Thank You!!

We are about 5 friends (plus 2 more... maybe) but some of them are looking for Hotels or other hostings (One of them have familiars near Cambridge). By now we are 2 (maybe 3) for the Camping.

We will be glad to camp with you if it's possible! that saves us the tenth transport... and will have fun for sure!
we Will need to talk about the payment of our part.

Now we have a question... how to arrive to camping from London Stansted airport... taxi?... any ideas? :S

Will be in touch here!

Tnx!

You will need to catch a coach (bus) to Cambridge from the airport....There is a big coach station at Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London and the coaches run all night from there...The coach company is called 'National Express'....You will need to find out when your flight arrives and then work out your coach to Cambridge...Once you are at Cambridge I/we can pick you up in our cars and take you too the campsite on the Friday...We always have more than one car so that won't be a problem

National Express coaches seem to run every hour to Cambridge from Heathrow...and the journey takes about 2 and a half hours...

http://coach.nationalexpress.com/nxbooking/journey-list

I will be staying at the campsite Friday night and Saturday night but could probably stay Sunday night if you guys need to stay at the campsite another night...

See the 'Jolly Boys Outing' post for info about what our schedule usually is...

As for prices..I think if you allocate £10 - £15 per person for 1 night then that will be plenty....You can actually work it out here....:

Click on the number of adults section to see how much the prices increase per person...

Humm

Good idea the Coach to/from Cambridge from/to London StanstedAirport... the travel takes only 45-50 min by bus.

Our intention is to arrive friday and leave Monday at midday...so we'll need that sunday night... :)

The prices are Ok... hope you catch the electric plug one... :D we'll need for mobile, cameras... mobile, cameras... minicomputer?... :)
