IIRC you need a certain mission script

You can walk into the Huey/Mi-8, it glitches sometimes and the pilot won't be able to see you in the back but you can get a ride back to base on helicopters. There is also a glitch where your pilot can clip into airplane's wings and you can get a SAR lift from a single seat fixed-wing.

Thanks guys, that is great news. I will be getting DCS once I get back from Nebraska... and hopefully there is a 2.0 at the end by then.

As a mission maker knowing that your pilot can jump on a huey and ride back opens up some really fun mission ideas and limits.

There is a script for that and it blocks the players slot until they are back at base and in a new plane. If they crashed on takeoff of course they could just walk back. Not sure if they can hitch a ride on a ground veh or not yet....
