Hi guys,
I was on a practice bomb run at high altitude with a Blenny when my engines started acting up. I noticed my engine temps were over 200 degrees but even with rads wide open they wouldn't cool down. Can someone please explain?

thanks

200 degrees is normal for the Blenheim cylinder head temps... not oil temps... see the Wiki page for details.

Just got it...should've reduced throttle but was too busy with the bomb run. Crap.

80deg on the oil gauges is max you want to see , not just temp though, revs too, keep a blenny under 2400 rpm for extended periods, and make sure your not boosting the engines over 6k ft!

In high altitude (may be around 20.000 ft) avoid turns (may be after bombing) with full power. The speed is decreasing during turn and then it may happen, that the engine overheats..due to reduced air flow.

The best is to have a look at the engine temp from time to time...everything over 230 degress is highly dangerous for the engine. Normal is 200 to 220.

In the Blennie - The game will cook your engines if your run them above 230.

Having said that - You can run them at 225 all day and they stay happy.

They seem to be cooler for the same throttle and pitch settings at lower altitude - but I don't know why.
Is that just the game or modeled on some physical property?
Air gets cooler with altitude.
But it also gets less dense. Maybe it can't carry as much heat away from the engine.

These pages are the ultimate. This is how I figured everything out in this game:
