Took off this morning from Manston and got bounced straight away by by a 109 and was killed on the first pass, within a minute a server message came up declaring that my assailant had returned to base. The only time I have got this message myself is when I have actually landed at the base I took off from. Unless this guy actually managed to somehow spawn in a 109 from Manston there is no way he could have done this. Any ideas?

You will get the "returned to base" message for landing at any base friendly or enemy. It's a little known fact that the Luftwaffe has established a secret base at Canterbury. ;)

Maybe we could have a delayed respawn penalty for landing in enemy territory. I have done it myself out of nececessity in the past, but it would give an extra level of tension for those flying over enemy territory, and also prevent unrealistic tactics from those who can't be bothered to fly back home after a sortie.
Some people want to achieve the highest score possible in the shortest possible time because they only allow them about an hour where they have them locked up. They limit their internet use so they just can't be bothered to spend the time flying back.

@Bokon: I know hc_wolf has mission designs in the works that penalize players for not returning their planes back to a friendly airfield. Some players are also known to ditch their intact but ammo-less planes in the sea in order to respawn faster; same idea.
