If you've never been there, theChive is a website that posts photo collections ranging from funny to insightful to overflowing with pretty ladies. Today (linked below) they put up the story of a wounded Navy explosive ordinance disposal technician, Taylor Morris, who was left a quadruple amputee by an IED in Afghanistan. They tell the story better than I can, but the short version is that he's a hero from the front lines who has been through hell and back, and that he and his girlfriend had a dream of one day owning a cabin by a lake. The site linked to a fundraising page put up by the Morris family to help, with the goal of getting $30,000 to fund a down payment for their dream home when he's able to leave Walter Reed Medical Center.
That was around noon Pacific time today... over $120,000 has already been donated by people from all across the country to see to it that he and his family have something special waiting when he's back on his new feet. With all the awful news stories out there, it's nice to see something real done for a man who has already given so much for his country.
