I wish they elaborated more on the turning controversy. I always thought it was widely accepted that the 109 couldn't out turn a Spitfire, but I've heard from various sources that it could, or that it could under circumstances, or it would result in catastrophic airframe damage or all kinds of different crazy things. But they just mentioned it. So I don't know.

Put simply a spit/hurricane has a smaller ULTIMATE turning circle than a 109, it's been proven many times, what cannot be proven is just how hard the opposing pilot was turning when the attacker engaged, so when you hear of 109 pilots out turning a Spit or Hurry, what you are really hearing is the 109 pilot outflew the Spit or Hurricane pilot, there were countless guys in combat in WW2 who frankly had no business being there, they were thrown into the meat grinder before they were ready!

The RAF and especially the Russians suffered at the start of the war with complete newbies dying on their fist few sorties, and the exact same happened to Luftwaffe pilots by the end of 44, people bang on about climb rates, speed etc, but the two most critical aspects in air warfare was pilot skill and tactical situation!
