Geschwaderstab size and insignia

I'm making a mission at the moment, and I have a question to ask. Was a Geschwaderstab a whole Staffel, or just a Schwarm? And did in the case of a Jadgeschwaderstab, was it only the Geschwaderkommodore who had identification markings that weren't numbers, or was it the whole Geschwaderstab?

In most Luftwaffe front line units the hierarchy went.

Geschwader --> Gruppen (I./ JG1 or II./JG1) --> Staffel -->Schwarm

Geshwader: 90-120 aircraft
Gruppe: 30-40 aircraft
Staffel: 12-16 aircraft
Schwarm: 4 aircraft

There was no completely set in stone number like there was in the allied air forces, due to the availability of men and materials at the front.

In most Geshwaders or Gruppe there would be a staff flight of 3 aircraft with the echelon markings you are talking about on the officers personal aircraft.

usually there was the Gruppenkommandeur, Gruppe adjutant, & technical officer in most cases.
