Looks awesome! Some say it's too much like battlefield but I think the gameplay looks similar to the old Battlefronts. The sound effects are amazing! Listen to the big cannons on the AT-AT and the Ion Cannon. This has been the game Star Wars fans have been waiting for for ten years! Now they need to make a new X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter . . .

It looks and sounds great, but this is a very short sequence split up into even more short sequences if you consider the different gameplay (infantry, walker, starfighter, etc.).

I wanted to really like the first Battlefront games but they suffered from something that I think this one will too: the battles just go on too long and in too small an area.

X-Wing and Tie-Fighter succeeded so well because each mission in itself was a tiny little Star Wars story that had suspense, action, drama. Star Wars was always to me about that space opera type stuff. These Battlefront games are kind of like Star Wars without the wonderful characters that we got from the original movies. It's all fast action and the 'wow' factor of it is mostly gone because i think I'd need my toes as well as my hands at this point to count how many times I've played a video game version of the Battle of Hoth.

That said, if they've found a way to tell some interesting stories with these battles, it might be pretty good. But, yeah, it looks basically like Battlefield 4: Star Wars Edition.

Fighter Squadron mode was revealed today at Gamescon. Looking forward to flying my favourite A-Wing! This will tide me over until a new X-Wing comes out.

This game was in the works before Disney.

I'm positive they know what they are doing with Star Wars. Disney will flog this brand to death until we are sick of it and they have to shelve it for a decade.

So far I've enjoyed the books and Star Wars Rebels under Disney. Quite a lot actually.

Well, Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen certainly give hope to a new X-Wing or Tie Fighter type game. That's what I really want, but I'm a sucker either way and already have Battlefront pre-ordered, even if it's not my favorite genre, I always enjoy a Star Wars game, even the terrible ones.

The beta is out until sunday - it's great! really feels like the old Battlefronts in terms of play-style and gunplay. It has it's issues (e.g. Empire almost always wins on Walker Assault) but it's still fun! Will probably buy on release. 8.5/10.

Nice. It looks a bit like the mod Galactic Conquest from Battlefield 1942 (same setting of course), albeit more modern and with more gameplay options. Do you recommend it?

Ya I'm really looking forward to it, but as smoke said we might have to break out the old flight gear. The previous battlefield games only seem to accept one controller, and my warthog doesn't have a twist rudder.... going to have to get the X-52 out and dust it off.

http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/planets This is an AWESOME web page, it's an interactive webpage that lets you explore all the planets through a cutscene of sorts, freezing the frame occasionally and letting you click on and get information on guns/vehicles/heroes/gamemodes etc. There are also loads of videos in there. I highly recommend checking it out, it's great. (even if you're not planning on buying the game.)

Well, it's out! I can honestly say that this is one of the most fun games I've played, ever. It's just a blast! Even the fighter squadron mode, which is very arcadey for a flight simmer like me, was total fun. I got in Boba Fett's ship the Slave one and had a sweet run! It runs very well on medium settings on my GPU which is only the minimum recommended card! I'd say it's totally worth it. Will be posting a video in the next few days.

I'm actually fine with it. It means they had more time to spend on the gameplay and the OT locations and frankly I like the OT the best. And man, Endor is beautiful!

OT is definitely better than the prequels, but the Clone Wars TV series was really good. I'd love to see locations from it, especially Umbara and Ringo Vinda :D

Agreed. First two seasons were meh, with a few good episodes, but the rest was pretty good. Dave Filoni's been doing a great job with Rebels too.

I'd love a Christophsis, Ryloth, maybe Kashyyyk, or Lothal map in Battlefront, Lothal might be more likely as DLC as they can still use Empire vs. Rebels,

People are comlaining about lack of content but it actually has a lot more than you think. There are 10 gamemodes and most are really fun. There are definitely enough gadgets/utilities (probably more than Battlefield) and the only thing it really lacks is more guns, but there aren't really any more guns from the Star Wars universe that they can use without making some up. There are four planets with a fifth on the way in free DLC. Future DLC (paid, probably Battlefield like at $15 each) will add new planets and more guns. The actual gameplay is just plain fun. It's what your ten year old self has wanted for years, to be able to play Star Wars and have it be just like the films. If you remember that the point of the game is FUN, than you will enjoy it. I rate 9/10. (This is coming from a diehard Star Wars fan so if you're not looking for that kind of experience I'd say 8/10 but still worth it.)

I have always been a huge Star Wars fan, and I have always loved the Battlefield series of games which this was supposed to be like, so I thought (and really hoped) that this game would be amazing. I even bought the digital deluxe version on pre-order. Instead it now has the honour of being the first and only game that I have ever returned for a full refund. I could spend a long time typing why, but I found a long review of the game that I feel really points out the many flaws. Do watch it if you are considering buying it and see if it looks like what you want. I was bored of it within the first 24 hour period, and found myself wishing that I was playing battlefield... or anything else really. The graphics and sound are amazing, but the game play is just completely flat or missing. The final straw for me was when I unlocked the blaster that has the highest damage and longest range (read sniper style rifle in most other games) only to find out that it had lower optics than my point blank range pistol. Video link below. If the game was priced at a normal game price I may have kept it just for the odd bit of arcade Star Wars fun and because it does look and sound amazing, but the digital deluxe costed me $94 Canadian which is way more than average, and to get any of the other content you had to get the season pass which is another $50+, and that would barely bring it up to an acceptable content level for a normal game release in my opinion. The pricing for the slim content is absurd.
