Apparently, they're going to start modelling at least some of the damage in the textures/skins, instead of in the meshes. That's pretty darned cool. I wonder if it will ever be possible to do the same for our more traditional flightsims.

This is already in place on some/most/all ships, this article and vid are from march. The damage system is good, now they need to make turning and aiming mechanics better! (Right now you turn WAY too fast IMO.) And aiming especially with gimballed weapons is a PITA. Better off using fixed especially with the latest patch.
