Hi all,

With the somewhat recent beginning of the ATAG Bomber Campaign, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in something similar to that for DCS. I've included a poll for on what kind of missions we could engage in and I'm open for suggestions on what to do. Nothing is currently set in stone for this other than just testing to waters to see what kind of interest there is in these kinds of missions.

I have a few ideas in mind using a variety of aircraft but I don't know if there is enough interest to do something like this maybe once a month (not same weekends as bomber campaigns).

In replies below, please list what DCS aircraft you feel competent or willing to learn how to.

Cheers,
Eagle

Eagle you are a mind reader. I was thinking of doing the same thing! I think a more casual thing would be fun, just get a bunch of ATAG community members on a server and run some missions for fun. I'd like either WWII dogfights or Jet ground strike. I also have a DCS capture the flag mission we could run if someone set up a server . . .

I've only got the F-15 C, TF-51 D, and Su-25 T at the moment, so preferably something with those planes :D

I'm good for DCS pending aircraft availability . . . after September.

This should be moved to the DCS forums.

Just curious on why you think this should be moved to the DCS forums?

I personally posted the thread here instead of the DCS forums because this subforum gets more views than the general discussion subforum for DCS world and I want to try to reach out to those who don't do DCS as often.

@Cybernat My goal with the missions is to make it accessable for anyone who wants to do it so there probably will be a blend of historical and fictional missions with a mix of eras for some of the fictional missions.

I would love some training in DSC. I currently have P51D, FW190, Saber, and Combined Arms. I will also be picking up the Huey and the BF109 soon.
I haven't spent much time with DCS so I need to get up to speed before I can be effective for group events.

Id love to help out with the 109 once you get a hold of it! You should join Eagle and I (sometimes just Eagle) in the F86 missions with the DCS Korean War guys. Top fun!

Thanks Eagle. I'll get everything set up so you don't need to be bothered going over key mappings and such.

I see you rocking a 71st uniform. Congratz! Great group of guys that are out to have fun and not take it too serious.

I'd like to join in. I have most of the DCS modules, but admit I only have limited experience with most of them.

I've spent most of my time of late with the MiG-15.

I have the Huey, Sabre, Black Shark2, P-51, A-10c(don't play the A-10 much though) and combined arms. My next mod will be the F-18, but that could be a bit of a wait for it to come out. :)

Hi. So I would be interested in participating if it still in the planning stages. I currently have P51d the most time in flying on training and campaign and controls are setup. I also have BF109, FW190 and hardly anytime. In Jets I have A10c, F86 saber,Mig21 and Huey. And Combined arms. And FC3. I have been flying and training in the A10c. But still pretty new to the A10.

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of replies. I've had a lot of family issues that I personally do not want to go into the details of as of late. Most of the issues should be resolved shortly so I'll be around more.

Reading through the list of aircraft that we currently have a good set up for a Korean War situation or a mock "Vietnam War" with several substitution aircraft. I'm personally leaning towards the Korean War with MiG-15's, Mustangs, Sabres, and maybe a few huey's if we can find or create a suitable balanced mission. If anyone is up for helping test and/or set up, please PM me and we can work out the details.

As it appears currently, one of the biggest desires is to have training. I can do my best to set up some training times and if anyone wants to work one on one with some aircraft, just PM me and I can see what I can do to get you on your merry way with flying DCS aircraft or helos. I'll try to find a time that I can set up a group training event where we can go over key binds and basic understanding of the aircraft so I will keep you guys posted for that.

Currently, I am leaning towards the first event to be after the release of DCS 1.5 where performance online will be significantly better than the current environment.

Anyways, I need to get some shut eye. I've been running on a little sleep as is right now. And it won't get better for a while now. Sorry for the brief message and hopefully I'll be able to work out some more details soonish.

I'm always up for testing, you know how to contact me. I'm away until next Thursday or Friday though.

I'm liking the Korean war scenario. Can I be your wingman in the Sabre?

Based on Eagle's post it looks like we may be doing some Korea missions so I have started getting myself up to speed with the Sabre. Yesterday was my first time getting her airborne from a cold start. I will still need some training though as I cant seem to get it flying much faster than my 109. I also tried landing her but think I did it wrong, unless the end result of landing is supposed to include a huge inferno and pieces of my ride scattered at the end of the runway. :ind:

Hi DS,

If you are on later today, or if you want to get on right now, I can help you through those things. And I think I know why you aren't going faster than your 109. Just hop on TS and find me in the Sabre Channel and I can help you.

Cheers,

Interesting. I have A10C, Huey, P51, FC3 and Sabre. More proficient with the P51, so far. Second: Sabre.

I want to thank Eagle for taking time to show me a few things with the Sabre in DCS yesterday. Thanks to his help I am now able consistently take off, handle the throttle properly and kind of land the aircraft(this part will take some practice).

DS

You're very welcome. I still need to go over the weapon systems with you and then I think you'll be set for flying into combat. I might be available later today if you want any help then but I'm not sure if I will be on. Landing will become easier with practice and it is a heck of a lot easier to land than the MiG 21BiS. Good luck in your adventures in DCS.

I have just recently started messing with the F86, so if you want to hop on sometime and embarrass ourselves on a server with me let me know. :)

No TAB 7-1 though. I jest, I jest :-P

The F-86 Sabre is one of the easiest birds I've learned to fly and also learned to use it's simple but effective weapons system. That's not saying I didn't crash a few times trying to land her at first or totally missed with rockets and bombs, but once you do get it, and you should get it within a few days of practice maybe a little longer for some of the less experienced VP's But once you learn her you can come on weeks or even months later and get back on that horse with little to no effort at all. Love that F-86! and the Huey and the Ka-50 and...

Hello all,

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. School has recently started up for me and it will be a hard semester. I have a general mission idea in my head but I need to start working on it.

I'm thinking of doing mission slots as follows:
6 F-86F
6 MiG-15BiS
4 P-51D
4 UH-1H
2 JTAC

The goal of the mission will be for Blue forces (USA) to capture a town while providing CAS and reinforcements. The goal for red forces is to prevent that from happening. If anyone has specific suggestions, please let me know either down below or via PM.

I am also trying to find someone willing to host a server for it in case my computer can not support a server. Flare, check your PM's please.

Meanwhile I work on that, I know this is last minute, I'll be hosting training events for the all the aircraft that will be featured in the event. First training event will be this Saturday at 20:00 GMT (16:00 EST unless I'm mistaken) and I will cover what ever aircraft or helicopter that is in demand for at the time. If you would prefer one on one training, PM me and we can try to work something out. We will meet in the DCS section of teamspeak but I'm not sure which subchannel but you'll be able to see me somewhere in the subsection.

Cheers,
Eagle

Hi Smoke,

The plan is for the NATO forces (everything but the MiG-15's) to be assaulting a town/ airbase and the MiG-15's will be tasked to take them out. I'm currently awaiting the release of DCS 1.5 before seriously diving into the mission creation. If you want help with any of the aircraft that will be flown in the mission, just PM me and we can set up a time.

General note for everyone: I am planning on making the time specified in my previous post (2000 hours GMT) to be a regular DCS training time for anyone that wants to show up. I'll be on teamspeak on that time and we'll decide on what server to go on depending on your skillset. Typically if it is your first time flying, I'll either take you on the aerobatics server or host my own server. If anyone can't make that, PM me and we can work something out. I am also looking for some potential testers for the map, please PM if you are available and let me know what aircraft you are competent in.

Thanks,
Eagle
