Come out this month to learn all about Bombers. No experience necessary!
UK and Australian Classes added this month!

All mission maps and campaigns on the ATAG server center around the bomber.
Find out how fun it is to be at the heart of that!

ATAG's InvaderZim, ATAG_Dave, 69th_Turn, and others will be hosting live training sessions on TeamSpeak and the private ATAG campaign server covering everything you ever wanted to know about the Bristol Blenheim, Junkers Ju-88, Heinkel He-111, Ju-87, and others. It'll be geared towards beginners, but all experience levels are welcome.

These are complicated machines. Come out and learn in two hours what could take weeks on your own! We'll start off with a brief ground school covering all the basics, then takeoff, practice navigation and, yes...even start bombing stuff.

Highlights:

Bombsight mastery
Tricks of the Turret
Secrets of Teamspeak and teamwork
Loadouts for success
Compasses and Autopilots de-confusified
Keyboard mappings - what's important...and what's NOT!
and much more...

*** Check back here regularly as classes may be added or changed throughout the month ***

Sign up by posting in this thread, or PM 69th_Turn.

Sign up early because all classes are subject to demand.

If you'd like to attend, but can't make the scheduled offerings let me know - perhaps something can be arranged.
NOTE: we expect classes to last about 3 hours. Please be on time.

TeamSpeak ATAG Channel Meeting Place: 'ATAG BOMBER CAMPAIGN: Ready Room' channel (under 'Server 2')

* We will be flying in the ATAG Bomber Campaign private server (subject to availability).

IMPORTANT:

To get the most out of the class, you must prepare by reading these guides to set up your keyboard and joystick ahead of time. Truthfully, there is just too much to cover otherwise, but instructors will confirm your work and answer all questions in this area.

DRock's Blenheim Key Controls (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8556)
** DRock's JU-88 Key Controls (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8558) (99% the same as the above)
DRock's Bomber Gunner Controls (http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10158)

** If you get your mappings set for the JU-88 (recommended) you'll automatically be ready for classes on any other bomber.

Thanks for your interest!

This is great!

The N.A. G.M.T. time needs adjusting.

For anyone wanting to do the JU87 class you will need the below:

Throttle, prop pitch, switching gunsight on, fuel on/off, flaps, fire guns and so on work just the same as in your regular ride.

Radiator is just like a 109, you move the control to open or close it to a setting you want (60% is a set and forget setting once airborne, use 100% for take off) and release the control once its at your desired setting - there is a handy dial in cockpit (top right) - pointing to 5 o clock position is fully open, 1 o clock fully closed , 3 o clock = 50%. Picture here

From the VIEW menu:
- 'lean to gunsight' (you need this somewhere handy to use repeatedly in a fight). Some folks swear by it, others swear about it - optional.

From the AIRCRAFT (KEYS) menu add:
- Drop Ordnance (somewhere handy of course) - drop your bomb(s)
- Toggle bombs armed (used once per flight) - somewhat embarrassing if you forget this bit before dropping your bombs...
- Select previous bomb bay (somewhere handy) - this allows you to drop the large central bomb separately to the 4 wing bombs so you get to bomb two rather than just one ship Central bomb is bomb bay 1, wing bombs are bombay 2 (all 4 bombs will drop together for the wing bombs , you cannot drop them individually). Default is 'All' ie drop central and wing bombs all bombs at once.
- Select next bomb bay (somewhere handy) - see above
- close oil radiator (occasional use)
- Open oil radiator(once per flight) - set it at 60% and forget about it basically.
- #1 Supercharger previous step (occasional use)
- #1 Supercharger next step (once per flight) - unleash the full & er 'awesome' power of the stuka engine. Operates on/off automatically - above 1500m its on, below 1500m its off
- close side window (occasional use) - see below
- open side window (once per flight) - opens the aiming window between your feet in the cockpit
- Toggle airbrake (occasional use) - comes with free siren sounds and an alarmingly steep flight towards the earth/sea & see below
- Increase sight altitude (occasional use) - this allows you to set the height at which your automated bomb release and autopilot dive recover will operate at when using the airbrake for an attack
- Decrease sight altitude (occasional use) - see above

General CEM guidelines
- 2150RPM, 1.3Bar ata, oil and water rads at 60% will allow you to fly pretty much all day long at what passes for a decent speed in a Stuka :D

OK Milo, gotcha for the 18th. You were sure a quick study last time. If you can do that hungover I'd hate to see what you can do sober!
