:(

Snapper's vid 'blocked on copyright grounds', that's the first time that's happened to me.

Sportsbike vid is insane. The most I've ever seen on a public road was 160mph on the clock on an empty dual carriageway in Wales. That was on a ZX6R.

However, here's an anecdote while we're waiting for B6 to post an update;

Back in '87 I bought a Kawasaki GPZ750 Turbo second hand. Being young and reckless, I took it down the nearest motorway to 'see what she'd do mister'.

When I'd got her up to 150mph on the clock, I thought 'ok, that'll do' as I by then had tunnel vision with the speed. I backed off the throttle and the bars started to oscillate, like the onset of a tankslapper.
I had to open the throttle to stop the oscillation. Tried again, same thing. 'Uh-oh, what the hell do I do here?' thinks me. Meanwhile, the end of the motorway was in plain sight and I'm still doing 150mph.
Being a slow thinking but methodical type, I realised that the only other way open to me was to slam on the brakes, and hope for the best that the front end stayed stable. Luckily the theory held true, and I bimbled off the motorway below the legal limit.

It turned out that the previous owner had put non-standard tyre profiles on the thing (why bike owners always think they know better than the factory is beyond me still), so I went straight round to a tyre shop and put my favourite Metzeler ME33/ME99 set on, in standard profiles.

The next time I tested it she was steady as a rock. :)

There's a moral to that story kids!

I'm only kidding Snapper ;-) We know motorcycling and not jet-skiing for you.

Unlimited data and texting packages from mobile providers ruined motorcycling for me. Because when look over and see 17 year old girls driving their parents car down the road arguing with their boy friend via text message I realized that the time has come to put that hobby to rest.

That was hilarious -- I hadn't seen that episode before and it's probably one of their funniest! But, no, the Richard Simmons-jet ski just doesn't do it for me. LOL

(Now, if it was Ev Jolie.......)

Wow, Dutch, THAT was a close call! Good thing you kept your wits about you. I wonder how many have panicked in a similar situation and came to grief as a result? I'm with you 100% on the 'don't second-guess the manufacturers' -- speaking as a layman and casual bike enthusiast. I'm pushing 150K km on the odo, and I've always stuck with the same make & model tires (Dunlop, in my case). I've never widened the back end either for a wider wheel/fatter tire. Reason: I'm more than happy with my bike's handling the way it is. It's no Ducati Monster, but on the curvy roads that I ride my old Softail rides like it's on rails. No shaking, no wobble.....plus the stock tires handle wet pavement very well. If it ain't broke......

Boo! Hiss!!! :PP

Actually, the Jap bikes were the best thing that happened to Harley, ultimately. They forced The MoCo to up its game or die. And they did. First with the "Evolution" ("Evo") engine, then more recently with the even stronger Twin Cam. The Jap bikes continue to get better and more refined, and HD has to keep pace, especially with an engine design that's just a few cylinders shy of what you could once find on a WW1 scout! LOL
