When asked why he landed at the wrong airport, the pilot replied, "Huh?"

Its actually not that wierd to land on a runway thats close and the same direction as the one your supposed to land on: Not that I have first hand experience ya know !!!!!

I reckon it's easy to make fun (like I did) from the comfort of an armchair. I've been known to utter such words as....."Oh, I'm at Lympne, not Hawkinge! Sorry, guys!" :geek:

True story here: I live right accross the street from a large municipal airport (Chandler) I have a scanner where I can hear all the ATC stuff. a few years ago a Howard DGA 15 (Old Radial engine plane from the late 30s) was cleared to land on runway 22 left. After landing the tower advised him he had just landed on the "Taxiway". The funny part was the tower controller that said after that" Just for your information:: the runways are those large expanses of concrete with numbers at both ends. The pilot just said "Roger"

Wow:doh:

If the PIC wanted to test the limits of his C-17 he sure got his $ worth.

In any event, probably not a good career move for a few on that crew. :(
