View Full Version : S! Guys - Issue with Ships on ATAG Server Tonight

S! All,
Just finished flying a Blenheim mission approximately 22:30 hrs eastern timezone.

The ships off the French coast were a couple of hundred feet in the air and upside down. I could only find one single ship to attack.

Would these have been ships that were previously sunk and a glitch? In an earlier sortie I had some ships standing vertical in the water like the empire state building.

Thanks for the great missions.

Hummm you need to tell us what mission you were playing. I know it is not Channel Command as there are no ships in that area. If you see it again press escape to Briefing menu and tell us the mission.

That said, this sort of thing is not a mission issue, more of an online code and lack of dedicated server by maddox issue. You also may have been flying after the end of the mission and the server may have restarted and you were still playing. That is usually when planes and ships go weird.

At that time I believe it would have been Bliss' new "Blue Escort Bombers" mission.

I rarely ever see the ships up in the air, but I see them on their sides and upside-down all the time. It's an issue with static ships.

Yeah it is. I stopped using static ships for two reasons.

1) You can not use them as targets to trigger triggers
2) the go nuts like you describe.

Instead I have to use moving ships. but the good thing is you just set 2 waypoints and on the 1st waypoint put a holding time of 7 hours. So they spawn and sit their like a static.

or you can have them move from port to port stopping for a while on the way. But using them in this way causes loading time issues as Server will keep updating locations for new people joining, even if not moving.

I know that programming or mission building isn't easy (I have some old experiance in basic programming) but good lord. It's like building a house with rubber hammers.

Maybe it is too early in the morning.. but what is your point?

You don't like the missions built or you acknowledge that the mission builders are doing their best with the tools they have?

I think he's trying to say that with the tools you guys have to work with (mission builder/game code) it's a wonder you can do things as well as you do.

I read that the same way as Keller. Basically you guys are maricle workers for giving us what we have given that you really don't have much to work with and that everything that you try to do is a fight against the game.

Yeah, he's referring to the "not using static ships" because of the issues with them.

I got an email from the 1c Programmers last night.

In short with what I can say they are "very impressed with the Channel Command and coding".

I can tell you one of their main focus is finding bugs at the moment and I am setting special missions up and sending them direct to the guys that exploit or show off the exact bugs so it is easy to identify.

I have not done one on the static ships yet. I will dothat tonight.

I do have a special one on the Mesh detials of the Baloons. you would not see it, but in the server missions, sometimes I see a Mesh error in the logs.

It's just as a mission maker I see a lot of bugs that the general user does not see. So it is good to now have a site on the sukhoi forum site where myself Povoxx and Narvy and a few others can all swap coding and mission test scripts over to the programmers for faster resolution.

So the ship issue, and other issues I have I can throw in a dedicated small mission and post the script for them to load and see exact issues for fast resolution.

Better then just making missions and hoping for the best that it iwll be fixed later. :D

This is very encouraging news for all of us Wolf.

Thoroughly deserved recognition of your skill and efforts.

Thanks.

Sorry if I was cryptic .... wasn't meant to be a slight or such. Just that I know how hard it is to program or debug things and when you do not have the proper tools, it isn't any easier. Last time I checked, I was on your side. As for making a mission, well I do not have the knowledge to do so, so I, like many others, enjoy the fruits of mission builders like yourself. Thanks for your contributions.

The following pictures were taken last night. And I do not know which mission it was ....

The problem is not that the ships fly but that the sea is too low

Hi Chief,
This is what I've been seeing. Some are even so high that you can fly under them. They disappear as you approach closser. Winking out just like the ghost flights.
