Ok, so here's the deal. This post is hopefully going to help us learn something about the problem I'm having and who knows, maybe it'll help others.

So from an earlier post over on the 1C Forums ( http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?p=440078#post440078 ) we have determined that I seem to be the only person that has problems with flying a He-111 with a human bombardier. I have done a complete re-install of CloD and the issue still remains.

Well this same type of error occasionally comes up when trying to use commands in the menu system of Wolf's Channel Command mission. I'm going to post my mission log below.

Also of note, the server went wonky today during this log but I douby the log will reflect the server issues.

Now I hope that Wolf might be able to make some sense of this as he seems to speak the language of Cliffs of Dover.
I know others have used the [Vector to home base] command with success, but for some reason something is messed up
or different with my copy of the game.

My copy was purchased through Steam.

The server is not messing up. The pings sky rocket and will have slow downs when the mission has too much in it. Too much AI for instance. That's one of the reasons you have long load times, when the mission is too extreme. I would wager a guess this happened during Wolf's mission? On my missions I have an exact timed amount of AI in the air at any single point in time. It can never go higher. They are timed to de-spawn in that cycle so nothing ever builds up or lets down - virtually always the same amount of moving objects etc. This is why, as I've tried to explain to some people on the banana forums and here several times, why we have to run missions a certain way. Wolf is fairly new trying to manage this for a populated server and has already stripped out quite a bit to try to start on the right track. With some of the complaints and loading times, there needs to be a much stricter limit on how many AI are in the air, and probably needs quite a bit lower object number as well. Even the amount of airfields can cause severe performance issues.

Basically the game can only take so much right now. Once you go over that edge it goes to crap. Sadly the mission may have to be removed until they actually fix the game. You either have 5 players that can enjoy it, or 25 players that can't connect to it (after it's running and people are calling out missions). Sadly that's just the way it is in Cliffs at the moment.

The "missing sound" errors are wrong. Let me explain...
CloD looks for files on the SFS files first and if not there, on the real folders.
For example, "Thank_you_for_the_escort.ogg" is not found on the SFS files (hence the error) but after that, it finds it on "Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\parts\bob\speech\de\Actor1" and it plays.

I agree with both bliss and colander's comments.

I released channel command with the hope the patch would come in and address the ai and online issues. That has not happened yet. So I am coding at the moment to apply more restrictions, less objects and less Ai at once moving to remedy the current situation.

May take a week or so.

Wouldn't it be wise to wait for the imminent next patch before all that work? Or do you already know that the new patch won't alter these things?

I am wondering if maybe the Internet connectionrate could help? Like in old Il-2 where it was common to set it to 28kb/s ( or so:recon: ).

I've set mine to ISDN, even if i have a better one. But it should be tested by a larger amount of people.

Thanks for the explanation Bliss, I thought the server was about to fall over, pings were hitting upto 800 and my fps was 40 then a few seconds later was down to 1 and then back again, as people left or dropped it got better, with only 5 or 6 of us left on normal service resumed. :thumbsup:

Well gents, once again the braniac that is Colander has solved another problem. I didn't realize that the game had two locations for stored config files, so I deleted my conf.ini file and confuser.ini from both locations. conf.ini holds all your video and audio settings, and confuser.ini I believe holds only your keyboard and joystick binds. Since I have a system of naming my keyboard and joystick config name as the date I save it, all I had to do was load the last config once I started the game up again.

Deleting the conf.ini files will force you to set your video and audio options again. I actually had to verify game files with Steam and reinstall the beta to get the game to start though; CloD didn't like that the config files were missing from the Steam folder.

Since deleting these files I am now able to fly with a human bombardier without any problems, well we did have one problem; a damn Spitfire found Torian and I way off the coast of Ramsgate before we could actually drop our bombs! :grrr:

Either way though, promblem solved!

Thanks for the explanation Bliss, I thought the server was about to fall over, pings were hitting upto 800 and my fps was 40 then a few seconds later was down to 1 and then back again, as people left or dropped it got better, with only 5 or 6 of us left on normal service resumed. :thumbsup:

I have made an update to the mission and put in CAP limits on AI and removed most of the extra Ship AI's I had in game.

The CAP system is dynamic and reacts to the volume of people joining or leaving the server.

Supply ships = If 6 or more people join, Supply ships will be removed; Supplies will switch to Air operations with supplies flown in. It is quicker and less taxing on CPU and load times.

Patrol Missions = if 6 or more people join, Patrols will be reduced with each member joining and phased out once the volume of people join the server of a designated amount.

Interceptions = If 6 or more people join they WIL NOT stop, however, they will be prevented from spawning IF the Maximum amount of AI are already in game or there are x amount of humans online.

Introduced 2 new mission types and some elements that decide when they run depending on volume of Humans and AI already in game.

Blitzkrieg = 2 missions up to 25 AI Bombers with Escorts at 5,500 meters. I will leave their targets as a surprise. They vary and if you are over the channel following them as they approach England, you are in for a treat.

British Bombing Attack = 1 Mission up to 18 Wellingtons and escorts at around 3,500-4000 meters (to be adjusted, maybe up). Multi targets and again a bit of a surprise as they cross the French coast.


Added a special call in the Menu to call one of these missions Based on volume of AI and other players already in mission. example, if there are 10 people in game and multi AI then this mission will not trigger nor can it be called up.

There is also a timed check on the server every 20-30 mins that will trigger one of the above missions depending on volume of players, AI and some other variables.

These changes (reduced ship AI and CAPs on AI objects should reduce load times maybe improve FPS for some.

I left the mission running on my PC for 4 hours last night, sorry for cutting people off the server this morning, I had to go to work. The mission upgrade will be past to ATAG server guys tonight and will be put to main server when they have time in next couple of days..

Thanks for all your hard work Wolf, the stuff you are getting into them now is showing huge potential for the future, hopefully 1C will give you a stable platform to work with soon and Clod can really take off :flying:

I was very surprised how well it went.

We need to coordinate a tight 5 bomber formation to stay tight and drop on queue to see if we can wipe out targets in one pass!
