View Full Version : Joystick Curves: Increase from 10 to 20 data points

I modified my Joystick curve to be more precise by adding 9 more data points with very good results. After playing for a couple of hours, I decided to make the number of data points an even 20.

Before the change, I felt that I was only using half the range of motion of my joystick resulting in overly sensitivity controls.

The game didn't crash after making the changes and it would be nice to know if there is a limit on the number of data points that can be used to adjust the curves.

The red arrow on the graph represents my perceived dead space or unused range of motion.

MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES.

I modified conf.ini file in
C:\Users\<your user id>\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\
or wherever your config files for CoD m

In my case I had to add this section the following lines:

[rts_joystick]
X=0 1 2 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 0
Y=0 1 4 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 0
Z=0 1 4 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 0

;X=0 1 2 3 4 5 7 9 12 16 21 27 32 38 46 53 61 70 81 93 100 0

I have read about utilities that will do this for you, but I haven't used any of them.

I suppose Z is the rudders?

Z is rudder on the joystick.
In my case I have pedals and the rudder should have a different label. This should be labeled in the games config in the axes tab.

In my case, 1RZ is my rudder

IL2JoyControl here don't work with CLoD because look for the folder Users (existing in 1946), the curves are saved in "Username".ini in this folder.

EDIT - OK, find a way.

Is need the folder "User" inside CloD folder with the same structure of il-2'46, because JoyControl look for this folder.
Attached the folder User (from 1946) with the minimal settings in the .inis - only reference for 4 axis.
User: JohonDoe. :D

This allow JoyControl save the curves direct in CloD conf.ini, under [rts_joystick] section.

BTW - Name of axis like "Throttle can" vary accord joystick model (in some is "Z", other "U", other "Slider").

Yup, it doesn't work.. Somewhere on the forum there is post about a virtual joystick app that could potentially address this. However, I don't like the idea of adding more layers of abstractions. Maybe the next generation of game will take advantage of the hardware !?!?

The other option is to build a full size flight stick and increase range of motion like so many other have already done.. Some day.
