Always loved the look of Tomcat... two man crew also a big plus.

MiG-23 not really a dogfighter... especially in the hands of a Libyan trained pilot.

Gaddafi probably told the poor b*stards to go engage and they went, even though they likely knew they were going to get nailed.

The MIG 23 was a high altitude interceptor , only thing going in its favor are speed. Never was designed for dogfighting but to take down the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird ao. The Tomcat was. But no matter speed a AC got

Im no specialist but I had in mind that the Mig23 was the equivalent of the F14 (interceptor/bomber) whereas the Mig25 was the high altitude/ high speed interceptor designed to counter the SR71.

I might be mistaken though.
