Notice the number of women in this photos... The British mobilized women into war service very quickly as well as into industry. Queen Elizabeth... (Princess at the time) served in the Women's Army Corps as a mechanic.

Germany was slow to do this... and it hampered their war effort considerably... large numbers of men who could have been serving in the Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe/Kriegsmarine were instead working in civilians roles which could have been filled by women. Women could also have been manning the AAA positions or the rear area defenses.

The Germans also were slow to fully convert their economy to war production... luxury goods were still being produced in 1942.

The reason for this... Hitler was conservative in regards to women's roles... he felt they should stay at home... he was also afraid of a repeat of the civilian revolts of 1918 as a result of the severe rationing of that time.

The result was Germany was running a very inefficient war production economy right up to mid 1942. They could have had a lot more tanks, aircraft and soldiers in the field than they did... and it made a difference at the crucial time.

The Nazis did like to see their young women getting lots of organized exercise.

Although there was always something bizarre and kinky about the Nazi 'Strength through Joy' organizations. ;)

And no, that's not a historical photo above... it's from a 1958 German sexploitation film.

Nazi female soldier sexploitation films. A mostly forgotten genre these days. :-)
