It was much later found that the propeller constant speed unit that automatically adjust the blade pitch was sometimes faulty due to a starving oil supply to the unit. Fritz explained by saying it was similar to a vehicle gearing down to first gear while doing 200kph and then the engine will blow up setting off the armed bomb as well.....
