Time for a rant.

I have a huge library of video tape stuff. Our video player died last night. If I wanted to waste the rest of my life converting it to digital format, I'd be a happy bunny. But I don't want to do that. I really really hate what people call the 'New Improved' format.

But if I want a new video player, I can have one for Ј300. If I want a DVD player, it's Ј22. The cost of buying a machine to convert one to the other is, well, not worth mentioning.

The most annoying thing is that it's my own fault. All those years I watched them, I could've been converting them to DVD. But I didn't.

Aaaaargh.

No it bloody isn't.

Is 'Google' going to come round to my house and do all the work?

Can I lie on a sunlounger and watch the Google serf do all the work?

Of course I can't.

It's a pisser, and no mistake.

Those sites do the work for you. I don't know their price but all you would have to do is drop the tapes and come back some other day and pick up the DVDs.:D

Now you're just trying to be sensible. I appreciate your level headed, conciencious and methodical approach to life mate, I really do. But at this moment I just want to rant, rave, kill my neighbour and his wife, and run down the street naked brandishing a Katana shouting;

'I just want to play my videos.......................'.

That's sort of it really.

My apologies chaps.

But I really did need a rant.

Very badly.

Anyone know where I can buy a good Katana? :D

I have a VHS player that probably works, I could dig it out and test it should you want to borrow it a while?

Septic.

That's very kind of you Septic old chum. However the replacement has already been ordered. This time, each time I play one, I'll copy it to DVD.

By the way, I should've posted this in 'off-topic'. Sorry about that. :)

What is your solution to this?? Do give details.

I found a Toshiba machine just like the old one which will play the videos whilst recording them to DVD-R.

That's the annoying part. I already had a machine which would do the job of converting them while I watched. I just never bothered doing it. Now that machine is bust.

There is no stronger rage than being enraged by one's own laziness/lethargy/can't be arsedness.

Hmmph.

By the way Colander, thanks very much for the links, and I apologise for my rudeness.

Deacon, perhaps I'll leave out the Katana for now, but thanks to you too. :D

These guys put all our old tapes onto dvd. Cheaper than snappy snaps and also made a pretty cool family film from all the footage. My mum won’t shut up about it, ha : https://www.moreofyourmemories.com/services/video-to-dvd-transfer/
