So I watched Battle of Britain again tonight since I have't seen it in awhile and noticed the Bf 109s, don't look like bf 109s at all, they look more like a P-40 with the large nose section and the exhaust radiator? on the underside on of the nose.. the 109 is much more slimmer than it looks portrayed in the movie.

P-40

a screen from the movie, you can see the underside of the nose is extended similar to a P-40

Messerschmitt 109 - you can see the underside of the nose isn't extended like the P-40 or BOB Movie 109

Anyone know anything about this?

Aye, some ageing Spanish Hispano licence built jobbies were used in the film. You'll also notice that the Heinkels have the same 'chin-scoop' radiators, also ex-Spanish airforce as I recall.

You'll also notice various different late war Spits being used, with symmetrical twin radiator/oil cooler housings, which didn't appear until the MkIX.

You'll also notice............

And so it goes on. :)

Still a bloody good film though (apart from the corny Suzannah York bits. Bad wig. Very bad wig!) :D

That was the only part of the movie I didn't understand back then.....and still don't understand to this very day. Christopher Plummer meets up with fetching wife, Susannah York, at a small English pub. She's arranged for a room there. He's annoyed that she hasn't put in for a transfer to be near him at his new posting in Scotland. Fine so far, but here's the difficult part: he leaves all pouty-faced and drives off. He leaves her ALONE, in a pub with a rented room waiting, amongst a bunch of the local Home Guard just finished their drill for the day!!!!

I'm sorry, but even as a pimply-faced 16-year-old I KNEW that was just plain WRONG!!!

Yep. The bit in the bedroom is totally non-sensical too. When the silly mare gets out of bed wrapped in a sheet and tries to spook our Chris - with bombs dropping all around.

I'd have dumped her there and then. Well, possibly the following day. I mean at least she'd agreed not to wear her long nightie. :ss:

I did notice the twin radiators ahha.

Needless to say I dislike the Spanish model 109.

Dreams of a clever digitally remastered Battle of Britain using state of the art accurately recreated CG dogfight sequences.
(rules out using the CloD engine)

+1 Just so long as they don't use the guys that did the CG effects for Redtails! LOL

I was impressed with some of the scenes in Dark Blue World, especially the train attack. Unfortunately, this movie also borrowed footage from the 1969 BoB movie which looked plain ugly.

I bought the Blu-Ray version of BoB (remastered from the original film footage) which looks pretty good compared to my old VHS tape copy. Of course, it doesn't help with the '69 model plane footage -- in fact, makes it look worse, really!

I can lend you my Haji copy...purchased in 2004 on Chicken St. in downtown Kabul. It has Tora, Tora, Tora,; Midway; BoB; & Top Gun all on one disc...$1 and works great :PP

There's a photo worth a thousand words. Your "survival radar" is clearly a full 100% there. Not a smart time to drive an auto or motorbike in your direction!
