Would it be feasible to add a flight of three to six Blue and alternating Red bombers, air-spawning from two or three locations each (so as not to be too predictable), and have these bombers specifically target the airfields where the live pilots get their Spit IIa and 109E4 top fighters?

Ergo, each side has a vested interest in protecting their respective airfields, and in escorting their own bombers to attack their adversary's top fighter base.

Those who wish to continue to raid each others bases can do so, but eventually they might run out of their favorite ride?

I used to be very anti bot.

After Storm of War I'm mostly over it.

Having AI bomber raids would add a wicked dynamic. I love shooting them down that always fun but flying "escort" using them as bait is hilarious. Joining up if you can as a bomber is nice too as you can surprise enemy. The problem we had there was getting enough warning that an AI raid is spawning.

Is there any tutorial on scenario creation? I have some ideas and I would really like to contribute to the community with more than just my donation to ATAG. The new map for example on the Isle of Wight was very similar to an idea I had so I'm so pleased someone was already thinking the same! I actually really enjoy that one. Super flak and all. I fly Red and Blue that map. Flak is lethal both side as it should be. The sun is in a great position for either side to use as well.

You can hook around and bounce 109s coming off the Isle or fly North and catch climbing Spits.

DRock and I plus another pilot I forgot his name where hitting AA emplacements and a Destroyer that cuts down any Blue bomber that lingers. Very fun.




I would like the spawn points on Kanalkamph moved forward.

Missions used to have bomber flights but it can cause server lag with large numbers of players, so I believe that's why they were removed.

It's true it can cause lag, so the AI was taken out. Thing is, on weekends there is sometimes 100 players on. Adding AI to that might give the game issues. But during the week the numbers don't seem as high, sometimes in NA zone there is very few. I'm attempting to add AI in smaller numbers, and with despawn insurance. Over time we'll see how it goes, and either scrap those missions or remove AI. That's my plan anyway. The server (and admins) will be the deciding factors for my little experiment. One thing I like about AI is that it draws people up to altitude, gives players something to hunt for - especially on slow nights (tab-41 for both sides will be included). Like Speed's post says, the AI will be doing something that can affect the mission planeset too. With summer and SoW around the corner, I think the server will do OK with little bit of added stress :D

I learned to make basic missions because mission builders were kind enough to share some of their work with me. From there it's some reverse engineering, asking Q's and trial and error. This community could never have enough people making missions, IMHO. It's quite fun and addictive in it's own way, and interesting to see if it works as intended! I'll send you some stuff if you want to play around with it.

I just wanted to give two cents regard the missions and AI when the servers are able to handle it. I only recently started to go online and have been on several times.

What would be interesting to me for example would be to a small flight of AI bombers at the top of the hour, every hour crossing the channel and bombing a specific target. A small flight of 6-12 would be perfect. (Alternating blue then red next hour?)

Players would know they have to group up against the flight ahead of time 10-20 minutes ahead of the wave. Lone fighters would therefore be discouraged a bit.

I haven't given much thought to AI aircraft for a while, but one concept I had in mind which was an iteration on a previous design I had was to make the AI flights selectable by menu and offer a sort of 'combo builder' system that would allow a pilot to select what airfield they were at, what their intended target was, and then things like altitude, speed and waypoints so that they could generate an AI flight to fly with in a larger group instead of just going out on their own or with whoever they can convince to also fly a bomber. Once the 'mission' was created, they could launch it. Checks and balances could be put in place to make sure only one of these mission was active at a time.

Would take some coding, but a working concept could be made without needing any fancy stuff involved.

Hey Freya,

Been mentioning your new additions to the maps re AI bombers to people on TS when the new messages pop up on the screen and so far it seems everyone has positive views of them and are keen to go shoot them down.

Small sample size but better than nothing re feedback
