Hey everyone,

Thought I would post a bit of what I have learned about Blender's texture paint tab.

[Edit] Make sure you are in "Blender Render"

First I deleted the material. I'm sure you can import the texture from in-game, I just didn't take the time to look for it.
21244

Add new material.
2124521246

Click the "Texture Paint" tab,(left) and choose "GLSL"(right).
21247

Click texture(top) and make a new one.
2124821249

Make sure in the material tab you have Transparency checked.
21251

Click "Face selection" so you only paint on highlighted parts.
21252

Texture paint brushes.
21253

You should be able to draw on the model now, and make sure to save image.
21254

Now you can add more layers in the same way you made the first one.
2125521256

Now to make a stencil. Click on the brush tab. Add what ever you want to use as a stencil.
212572125821259

In the tools part of the texture paint under the brushes, click "Texture"
21260

There is a few way to apply the stencil, but I will just show the "Stencil" one.
21261

Click "Image Aspect" so your stencil is the right shape.
21262

You will need to add a light to see what you are doing. Also under "View Port Shading" click "material"
21263

Next you will need to "tab" into "Edit Mode", then open your second layer from where you saved it.
21264

Tab back into "Texture Paint". Under the slots tab make sure you have the right layer highlighted, and also on the left in the texture tab. Then start painting away.
21265

You can move and resize the stencil with the right mouse button.
21266

I hope this can be of some help to any one that needs it.

Awesome! Any way to do this in cycles render instead? I find cycles looks way nicer.

Yes it works in cycles, just a few different steps.

Yup, but Blender render lets you have more control over the layers.

Dont forget to uv unwrap correctly first. Else you wil probably end up with distorted textures and you wont be able to edit in an external editor.

How did you try and join? That's right you will have to uvmap it to a texture if you are starting out from nothing. This was to show a guy in TF how he could use it to make skins with Blender. So this is a model from the game and has been uvmaped already.

Thanks for the notes guys.:ilike:
