Hi,

After almost forgetting about COD, my tech guy took my CPU for 24 hours and now it runs perfectly.

After playing online for a couple weeks, been shot down a million times, and having three or four kills, I´m looking for good rudder pedals, as twisting my Saitek X52 pro is getting old, and I want the Warthog, which has no rudder twist.

Any recommendations? I read Saitek pedals can lock up, but I think I saw them in some of your cockpits. Any advice?

Alex

Market basic options - not considering helicopter pedals without center mechanism or airlines based models of hundred dollars price, and no advantages for CFS usage.

Saitek at moment is not available in major online retailers (seems brand are going south and stop production), so "smart" people are speculating with prices (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000H67DDY/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new). Forget these. Plastic construction, potentiometer, USB controller 10 bits.

Thrustmaster has a new "entry-level" model, the TFRP (http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/tflight-rudder-pedals) for 90$. Plastic construction, Electronics/potentiometers on par with Saitek, USB controller 10 bits.

A bit more expensive - 125$ - the classic (and vintage) CH PRO pedal. Plastic construction, better potentiometer quality than previous models, but electronics obsolete: USB controller 8 bits - only 256 points of resolution.

And the 'high-end" models

VKB T-Rudder Mk.IV (http://www.gostratojet.com/TRudder4Pedals/index.html) - 250$ in USA - all metal, adjustable, ball bearings, contactless sensor, electronics 12 bits.
Unique design and operation, looks more helicopter pedals and works on vertical instead on horizontal, no "toe brakes", but their software allow use a button in joystick to brake both wheels and with rudder movement brake right or left wheel only (similar to Spitfire, Hurricane brakes system - informally called "differential brakes").

MFG Crosswind (http://mfg.simundza.com/products) - 380$ - Queue to buy, frame in composite material, adjustable, ball bearings, contactless sensors, electronics 12 bits.

Slaw Viper (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoE3FdE8rKo) - 550$ - Queue to buy - only small batches are produced - all metal, adjustable, ball bearings, contactless sensors, electronics 12 bits.

I have Saitek Pro Flights. I've had 'em for a little over a year and have been very happy with them. I especially like the wider placement of the pedals. I took the center detent pin out a few months back (several threads here in the forums about it) and my shooting improved dramatically overnight (although it's still the weakest part of my game).

I was happy with my Saitek pedals until the electronics died.
Instead of buying new ones, I bought a cheap joystick and replaced the pedals electronics with it. Now my Saitek pedals are recognized by windows as logitech but they work :D

I've had my Saiteks for nearly 3 years now and they have been problem free. Was running with CH before but I am a chunky monkey and found them a bit to close together so swapped them for the Saitek's and couldn't be happier

BTW - If Saitek Pedals (that have Saitekt "quality") is the choice, in eBay are a seller - AS-IS - with honest prices:

EDIT - Ops, forget this adds, these are defective units. Better, forget Saitek at all. ;)

In my opinion, the best feature on the Saitek Combat rudder pedals is the wider foot spacing. For handymen, the centering spring defect can be easily repaired with elastic bands or by replacing the spring from the local hardware store. After I successfully fixed mine like this, I reported the problem to MadCatz, who sent me a new product without even asking, even though the warranty had recently expired.

That was at least a couple of years ago... no problems since. :joystick:

I have used Saitek Pro Flight continuously for 3 years of near daily use with no problems.

Not noticed any deterioration in their resistance or accuracy and so am very happy with them.

Be prepared to wait a couple of months Alex. Well worth it if you like your flight sims as they are very precise. If you look at the website youll see that some software is supplied to make em work and some folk elsewhere on the interweb (fanboys of another device) have identified this as some form of failing. They are talking out of their bottoms. The software is quick and easy to use and sets up the profile you want on the NVM in the pedals themselves. And when i say profile, this isnt a complex warthog marathon its simply the travel in the brake pedals and i guess some curves if you wanted to change them. I didnt. It only needs to be used once, took 20 seconds and thats it.

Then you can learn to fly all over again - Id suggest the Gatwick air race circuit as a great place to learn (on the Bomber Server).

Slaw is the other option. Cam version.

Not cheap. Full metal construction.

Could club a 109 to death with them by hand.

I got mine for free...

Like this:

A quick scoot around the loft.... and few weeks throwing stuff at ebay / Gumtree / Friday Ad... sell sell sell...

goodbye stuff I didn't want cluttering up the loft...

Then sold the CH pedals i had... which i really liked...

Got Slaw pedals for zero finacial outlay and didnt have to drive to the tip with that stuff in the loft...

Nice !

Absoluetly love them.
