So I decided, with the new patch and all, to see what the Hurri could do. I jumped in a Hurricane 100 octane and started climbing. This is what I ended up with.
1031
1032
29,000 feet!
I had a nice contrail behind me too, but I forgot to get a screenshot
The only reason it wouldn't go any higher was just that I ran out of airspeed. The engine ran slightly rough, but perfectly manageable.
My oil temps would have been lower, but I was seeing how high I could push the rpm.
Definitely had fun :flying:

Lovely experience.
I managed 25,000 in a DH5-20 and took a pic of the contrails - could have gone higher but wanted to see how it behaved in a long hi-speed return to Ramsgate from St. Omer. Very nice.
I believe that 71st_JTDawg also achieved 29,000 ft.
So it looks like the confirmations are coming in about altitudes in the Hurricane.

What's it handle like up there...the 109 has always been able to go reasonably high but handles like a brick..

At 29,000 feet it basically is a flying brick. Half the reason your going so slow is because you have the nose angled up so much.
At 25,000 it wasn't so bad. Not sure how much of a fighter it would be, but it was definitely manageable.

at 25,000 ft the 109 is barely flying

Yea this is true...
Well I hope they keep refining this altitude problem, I need to test that hurri up high...if it indeed is a better high altitude fighter then I'll leave behind the 109...kind of makes it futile
